The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the speaking rate on the duration of syllable before boundary. The materials used were four types of syllable-boundary sequences(Go-'Ga' Boundary-Gu) in a paragraph. The duration of 'Ga' syllables before 4 level of boundary was measured, and all of the measurements were taken from signals and spectrograms made by the $Signalyze^{TM}$ 3.04 for Power Mac 7200. Subjects were six female speakers who read the materials at fast, normal, and slow speed five times. The results show that (1) the slower the speaking rate becomes, the longer the duration of syllable before boundary, (2) the duration rank of syllable before each boundary does not correspond to the level of boundary, eg. at fast speed, = < #, + < $ ; at normal speed, +, #, = < $ ; at slow speed, + < =, #, $, and (3) the syllable before sentence boundary is less influenced than syllable before another boundary.

The aim of this paper is to elucidate ancient Chinese philosophy and linguistics through the concept of the Dao. Ancient Chinese thought had developed together with ancient Chinese theories of language and the linguistic features of Classical Chinese. The concept of the Dao served as an intermediary among them. The Dao which ancient Chinese philosophers sought for has several characteristics: ethical normativity, wholeness, dynamicity, non-reducibility. Linguistic studies also revealed them. The following linguistic features of Classical Chinese are the cause and/or the effect of such Dao-based philosophy and linguistics: No explicit subject-predicate sentential structure, no parts of speech, heavy reliance on the word order and context for meaning determination, no explicit distinction between compound words and a sentence, the pictographic or the ideographic features of Chinese graphs, and non-existence of a copula.

Social media platforms have become prominent channels for e-commerce, and the role of social network sites' (SNS) content marketing is expanding as a strategic marketing communication approach to attract and retain consumers and increase sales. In this study, we focused on South Korea market and explored the influence of linguistic complexity and informality on consumer engagement. In particular, we identified the importance of complexity, focusing on its negative effects, as well as the moderating effect of commerce features to minimize these effects. Specifically, content length, hashtags, long words, and average sentence length significantly and negatively impacted consumer engagement. The influence of emojis, an informality variable, was not statistically significant. Shoppable tags, a commerce feature that provides both advertising explicitness and shopping convenience, were a moderating factor in the influence of complexity. Our findings provide new insights for content marketing researchers, and have practical implications for social media managers and content developers.

In this paper, 1 will try to examine the aspects of formants, based on the LPC analysis. In this analysis, five Japanese vowels (a, i, u, e, o) will experience two kinds of experiments: vowels in isolated forms, and vowels in carrier sentences. The analysis results of Japanese vowels of the Japanese natives show a peculiar feature that Japanese vowels form respective vowel groups. Each Japanese vowel makes a statistically significant difference. In the Fl analysis of the vowels grouped by the informant's sex, Japanese vowel (a) shows the greatest standard deviation without regard to the informant's sex. In the F2 analysis of Japanese vowels, each vowel has a statistically significant difference. The fact that the male's [u] shows great standard deviation means that there is a great difference of the frontness of the tongue among the Japanese males in articulating [u]. Isolated vowels and carried vowels show statistically little significance between Fl and F2 frequency values. In another contrastive analysis between the isolated vowel group and the carried vowel group, whether a vowel is articulated in isolation or in a sentence appears to have little effect on its formant frequency.

The 121 five-year-old Korean subjects of this study were divided in 3 groups based on their experience in learning a foreign language (English). A battery of tests was administered to measure spoken and written language ability and the 3 metalinguistic domains of phonological, semantic, and syntactic awareness. Spoken language ability was positively correlated with semantic and syntactic awareness. The relative importance of each metalinguistic domain varied with level of written language development. Phonological awareness was the only predictor of decoding. Syntactic awareness and phonological awareness were significant variables in sentence comprehension. Metalinguistic ability was a better predictor of written language development than spoken language ability. Foreign language learning experience had an effect on syntactic awareness: low experience was superior to no experience, but high experience was not superior to low experience.

The current study reports the results from a cross-modal naming experiment investigating the effects of a prosodic boundary location on the comprehension of ambiguous dative NPs in Korean (Yeongmi-ka Ceonghi-eykey norae-rul pwulecwu-n pwuin-ul ${\cdots}$). The underlined dative NP, Ceonghi-eykey, can temporarily be attached to the embedded rel-marked verb, pwulecwu-n ('sing-rel') or to the matrix verb to appear later. Participants heard sentence fragments manipulated for the location of Intonation Phrase boundary (the biggest prosodic boundary in the model of Seoul Korean) and right after that, had to name visually presented naming targets, which resolve the ambiguity of dative NPs. The prosodic manipulation did not result in difference in naming time, suggesting that the location of a prosodic boundary failed to influence the way Korean listeners interpreted ambiguous dative NPs. Possible reasons for the null effect were discussed.

This paper researched and compared the Jangsam religious costume, of Buddhism in Yeongsanjae with that of Shamanism in Gutgeori. Jangsam is a full length, flaxen hemp dress used in both religions. (Ed-please amend this sentence as necessary but note that it is essential to give some description of the costume here for non-Korean readers) The religious point of view can cause Jangsam's features to differ Jangsam's meanings are as follows. First, the purpose of wearing Jangsam in both the Buddhist priest's and Shamans' costumes is to gain power from the Almighty in order to maximize the religious effect. Second, Jangsam in the Shaman's costume features universality mixed with Buddhism and folk religion and becomes symbolic in Buddhism. As society disregards Shamanism, it has become combined with Buddhism. Third, Jangsam for Yeongsanjae or Chukwon Gut has kept its religious specialty as a Pyoeui despite various modifications.

The advancement of Internet technologies has provided a new and effective way to cultivate international talents. To investigate the effect of native English teachers' online synchronous classes on Chinese primary school students' oral English improvement, an 18-month quasi-experimental study was conducted on 300 primary school students in China. The experiment and control groups were provided biweekly synchronous online classes with native and non-native English teachers. SPSS was used to conduct Paired Sample T-Tests and analyze performance differentials. The results showed that online classes taught by native English teachers perform better than non-native English teachers in three areas: vocabulary accuracy, average sentence length, and phonological intonation.

There has been a study about the effective multimedia education using a computer following the appearance of a virtual space. Also, there has been an effort to connect the information & communication technology with education. The popular on-line lecture systems are mostly on English lecture sites. However, they just offer the VOD(Video On Demand) services ignoring students' convenience. To improve these week points, we design and implement the multimedia leaching system focusing on an efficient repeat-effect in order that students can control the Media Player by clicking a sentence on a web page. This paper presents the Editor and Player considering students' interest and the effective learning fruits. So users can easily make multimedia materials and use them to improve their English listening skill.

본 연구는 도메인 특성이 강한 HR 평가문장을 BERT PLM 모델을통해 4 가지 class 로 구분하는 문제를 다룬다. 다양한 PLM 모델 적용과 training data 수에 따른 모델 성능 비교를 통해 특정 도메인에 언어모델을 적용하기 위해서 필요한 기준을 확인하였다. 또한 Unlabeled 된 HR 분야 corpus 를 활용하여 BERT 모델을 post-training 한 HR-BERT 가 PLM 분석모델 정확도 향상에 미치는 결과를 탐구한다. 위와 같은 연구를 통해 HR 이 가지고 있는 가장 큰 text data 에 대한 활용 기반을 마련하고, 특수한 도메인 분야에 PLM 을 적용하기 위한 가이드를 제시하고자 한다
