  • The rapid growth of instructional videos repositories and their widespread use as a tool to support education have raised the need of studies to assess the quality of those educational resources and their impact on the quality of learning process that depends on them. Khan Academy (KA) repository is one of the prominent educational videos' repositories. It is famous and widely used by different types of learners, students and teachers. To better understand its characteristics and the impact of such repositories on education, we gathered a huge amount of KA data using its API and different web scraping techniques, then we analyzed them. This paper reports the first quantitative and descriptive analysis of Khan Academy repository (KA repository) of open video lessons. First, we described the structure of repository. Then, we demonstrated some analyses highlighting content-based growth and evolution. Those descriptive analyses spotted the main important findings in KA repository. Finally, we focused on users' interactions with video lessons. Those interactions consisted of questions and answers posted on videos. We developed interaction profiles for those videos based on the number of users' interactions. We conducted regression analysis and statistical tests to mine the relation between those profiles and some quality related proposed metrics. The results of analysis showed that all interaction profiles are highly affected by video length and reuse rate in different subjects. We believe that our study demonstrated in this paper provides valuable information in understanding the logic and the learning mechanism inside learning repositories, which can have major impacts on the education field in general, and particularly on the informal learning process and the instructional design process. This study can be considered as one of the first quantitative studies to shed the light on Khan Academy as an open educational resources (OER) repository. The results presented in this paper are crucial in understanding KA videos repository, its characteristics and its impact on education.

  • The study analyzed the result of a survey on educational programs after the provision of professional development education in textile-based industries, with the aim of suggesting a method of evaluating professional development education, by shedding new light on the educational contents and environment required by industries and on the components required to strengthen competence based on an evaluation of the outcomes of such educational programs. Methods of analysis included frequency & average analysis, ANOVA and portfolio analysis, and a questionnaire containing seven questions on satisfaction with 'educational contents,' six questions on satisfaction with 'educational environment,' three questions on educational effect and questions on overall satisfaction with education was used as an analysis tool. Data used in the analysis was obtained through a survey of the attendants of lectures given from January 2014 to September 2014, and the respondents included 30 persons enrolled in CEO courses, 167 persons enrolled in employment courses and 101 persons enrolled in employment & start-up business courses. The results of the research are as follows. 1. Looking at frequency distribution by educational course, it was shown, from highest to lowest, to be Incumbent Courses (167 persons, 56%), Employment & Start-up Courses (101 persons, 33.9%) and CEO Courses (30 persons, 10.1%). Looking at average analysis by question, the value of most questions on Employment & Start-up Courses turned out to be lower than Employment Courses and CEO Courses. 2. Through a variance analysis on questions related to educational courses (Employment & Start-up Course, Incumbent Course & CEO Course) and post-verification, it turned out that Employment Course is in the same group as the CEO Course in most questions, and that Employment & Start-up Course was a separate group. 3. Overall satisfaction with education turned out to be as high, at 4.1 out of 5. 4. • Women are unlikely to receive an equal education, compared to men, in rural Korean society despite the equality in labor sharing. To address this issue this research aims to (a) analyze the educational needs for farming skills and daily life management in rural communities, and (b) develop a model for educational programs reflecting regional characteristics for the female farmers in order to make them experts in agriculture. A structured questionnaire was administered, using a group interview method, to 366 female farmers from the Jeonnam, Chungbuk, and Gyeonggi provinces with help of agricultural agents. The major components of the questionnaire dealt with individual peculiarities, educational environment, and curriculum and training subjects wanted by the female farmers. Educational program content was classified as daily life management, scientific farming and agricultural management skills to create systematic and effective programs. It was found that the critical factors for developing educational programs for the female farmers are as follows: a. It is necessary to develop a program combining daily life management skills and farming skills to make the female farmers experts in agriculture. b. Statistically significant differences were found in the female farmers' educational program participation and needs based educational level, age, educational expenditure, farm type, farming experience, and farm scale. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a program considering the fore-mentioned socioeconomic status and farming characteristics. c. It is important to establish an educational system for the female farmer to improve their quality of life as a minority group in Korean society. In addition, it is also necessary to develop public relations program to ensure that female farmers recognize the importance and necessity of the education.

  • The purpose of this study lies in touching the study trend of Chinese education technology through the analysis on present situation of the study in Chinese education technology, and is to suggest the direction for the its further study and development. In order to achieve these kinds of study purpose, the frames have been set to grasp the features and trend of Chinese educational technology in such as 4 aspects of educational technology definition, curriculum and the cultivation of genuine individuals, study zone aspect and the method, and in order to grasp, in the comparison with the countries of advanced educational technology such as Korea, America etc., the progressive features and the trend of development of Chinese educational technology have been analyzed. As a result of the analysis, it has been found that Chinese educational technology has the different features in the study and development of educational technology of Korea and America in the abovementioned 4aspects. First, in the education technology comprehension, it differs from Korea, Japan and America, and understands the technology as a skill. Consequently, in either study or actuality, it seems puts more emphasis on skills (moreover, the aspect of hardware). Second, in the aspect of curriculum and the cultivation of the genuine individuals, gives preponderance to science aspect, and the unclear distinction between the education technology and the computer science makes that the true character of educational technology is not clear. Third, when speaking of study fields and study methods, those of china is a little behind of the advanced nations of the educational engineering, Korea, America and so on. And in the range of study, China is following the international tendency but when it comes to the depth of study and quality is very far from perfect. In the aspect of study method, the theoretical study, design study and development study are occupying mostly, and it is hardly to see the existence about actual proof study, and in this aspect, it is quite different than that of Korea and America. And it is judged that it is related with the traditional educational ideology and the academic study tradition, the cultural air and the features of economical development of China.

  • As a part of the status report of all the libraries of Gyeong Buk Province, the libraries of the higher educational institutions in the province were first examined in this study. The following methods were employed for this investigation: 1) questionnaires were sent to the libraries to gather necessary data and 2) the library standards as set by the government were applied for the analysis of the data and other related statistical studies and reports were consulted. Eighteen libraries in the 22 higher educational institutions in the province were examined as of August 1974. For the convenience of the study, the 18 libraries were classified into the following four categories: four-year college library, two-year normal school library, two-year junior college library, and three-year nursing school library. Paul Buck contends that the library is the center of academic life and that the quality higher education is not possible without a quality library. This is so because all the research activities have to be supported by good library facilities. Moreover it is difficult to justify the raison d'etre of an academic community if there is no active research activities in it. If the proposition is accepted that the library plays one of the most important roles in research and that research is one of the most important aspects of an academic community, it cannot be helped but observe that the role the libraries in the province play today is irregular and is far from the educational ideals the higher educational institutions envisage. The present study revealed that there was not a single library in the province which could truly support the research and classroom activities of the higher educational institutions. The college and the normal school libraries, nonetheless, had some facilities to be analyzed. The nursing school and the junior college libraries unfortunately had virtually nothing. It is hoped on the basis of the present study that the libraries should reorganize themselves and look for new directions for active support of research activities.
