  • The article describes the results of experiments conducted on pigs to determine the effect of plutonium, which is the most radiotoxic and highly active element in the range of mixed fuel $(U_{0.8}Pu_{0.2})O_2$ fission products, on living organisms. The results will allow empirical prediction of the emergency plutonium radiation dose for various organs and tissues of humans in case of an accident in a reactor running on mixed fuel $(U_{0.8}Pu_{0.2})O_2$.

  • The importance of ICT is being emphasized in this information-oriented society. In the 7th curriculum, it is necessary to use ICT more than 10% in teaching every subjects to keep pace with this trend. The distinctive feature of the curriculum lies in the introduction of various gradations and levels of the individual students. In this paper, by designing and applying the teaching idea based on educational contents, we analyzed how it has an effect on achieving of studies. As the results of this research, we found that teaching based on educational contents made students the meaningful increasement of interest in the controlled group and according to the increasement of the achievement in studying, the improvement of teaching are confirmed.

  • This study investigates interior and exterior environments and arrangement forms of school buildings from elementary to high school which were recently built in Daegu since the 7th Educational Curriculum. In addition, this study analyses how outside noise affects inside environment of schools. This study found that the noise level criteria of school facilities(such as exterior learning sites and outer walls of school buildings) adjacent to street of one side satisfiedly corresponded to the level and criteria, 65dB(A), of school health law. However, the noise level and vibration criteria of school facilities adjacent to street of two sides did not satisfiedly corresponded to the level or criteria, 65dB(A). In case of classrooms, the inner noise of educational facilities with windows closed and also close to both the street of one side and of two sides satisfiedly corresponded to the level or criteria. 55dB(A), of school health law. In spring and tall, the windows are more open them usual for ventilation, and leaving windows open can lead to noise from outside. Thus, it is urgent to prepare for this situation.

  • Recent demands from construction industry have emphasized the capability for graduates to have improved skills both technical and non-technical such as problem solving, interpersonal communication. To satisfy these demands, problem-based learning that is an instructional method characterized by the use of real world problem has been adopted and has proven its effectiveness various disciplines. However, in spite of the importance of field senses and dealing with real problem, construction engineering education has generally focused on traditional lecture-oriented course. In order to improve limitations of current construction education and to satisfy recent demands from construction industry, this paper proposes a new educational approach that is Failure-Based Learning for using combination of the procedural characteristics of the problem-based learning theory in construction technology education utilizing failure information that has the educational value in the construction area by reinterpreting characteristics of construction industry and construction failure information. The major results of this study are summarized as follows. 1) Educational effect of problem-based learning methodology and limitation of application in construction area 2) The educational value of the information on construction failure and limitation in application of the information in construction sector 3) Anticipated effect from application of the failure-based learning 4) Development and application of the failure-based learning model

  • This study was conducted to examine the relationship between pre-service early childhood teacher's motivations of choosing a teaching profession, educational belief, and self-directed learning readiness. The sample included 308 early childhood education major students, and the data were collected using the Modified Orientation to Teach Survey (MOTS), Teaching-belief type scale, and self-directed learning readiness scale. A statistical analysis included correlation analysis and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The results were as follows: 1) analysis of the relationship between pre-service early childhood teacher's motivations of choosing a teaching profession, educational belief, and self-directed learning readiness conveys that intellectual stimulation and self-directed learning had the strongest relationships while nature of work had the weakest. For educational belief and self-directed learning readiness, maturationism and interactionism showed significantly positive correlations while behaviorism displayed a negative correlation. Behaviorism had a significantly negative correlation with openness for challenge, a sub-factor of self-directed learning. 2) Analysis of the effect of pre-service early childhood teacher's motivations of choosing a teaching profession and educational belief on self-directed learning readiness indicates that pre-service early childhood teacher's motivations of choosing a teaching profession had a stronger effect on self-directed learning. These results suggest the following: successful performance as an early childhood teacher not only requires receiving institutionalized education but also self-directed learning while working as an early childhood teacher.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors that affect the educational service of school libraries and to seek effective ways to revitalize the services following an analysis of the influence size and the cause and effect of each factor. For this, after deciding the variables through a comprehensive investigation based on documentary research, the variables were operationalized. These variables are school members' recognition and support, teacher librarians' expertise, cooperation between teachers and teacher librarians, the school curriculum, a shortage of teacher librarians' time, the educational environment and educational services. Fourteen hypotheses on the cause and effect among the seven variables were analyzed by applying SEM (Structural Equation Modeling). The result is that the key factors of educational services are teacher librarians' expertise, cooperation between subject teachers and teacher librarians, and the school curriculum. As a result, active methods for the educational services of school libraries were sought.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a framework to analyse the educational effects and outcome of the boarding middle school established following the merger and abolition of small schools in rural area. According to the decrease in birth rate and reduction of population in rural area, primary schools have brought about many problems for decrease of number of student, and environment of education have became deteriorated. Accordingly, primary schools be required improvement, and it should be altered placement of schools because it change number of student, distance and time of attending school, and formation of school zone are changed by alternating of human and physical environment. Merger and abolition of primary school is inevitable for change of placement standard to primary school and qualitative improvement of environment of education in rural area. This study suggests 1)educational effects and outcome, 2)changes and benefits of student's living conditions, 3)social effects to local community, and 4)economical efficiency analysis as a new framework to evaluate the validity of establishing a school. It sets up a hypothesis that the students, parents and community satisfy the boarding school in rural area, a school record be improved and the abolition of schools have little effect on community. Finally, it emphasizes that in order to success the policy of the merger of small schools and the boarding middle school, it be attributed to the social-cultural environment based on local residents and community and required provision of a variety of utilization plans reflecting local specifics and guarantee of local residents' participation and selection.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the actual conditions, satisfaction towards, and effects of children's cooking activity programs held at children's cooking schools, which have recently been gaining interest as an effective integrated educational method. Also, based on the results, the study provides information on good teaching-learning methods, which can be applied to kindergarten and elementary schools. The results of the evaluation showed that 84.1% of the respondents were satisfied with the educational aspects of the programs. People were most satisfied with the teachers' "teaching ability", and were least satisfied with "the educational fees". The satisfaction scores for the children's cooking programs were higher when they were performed in a school class environment as compared to a cultural center environment, and children who had participated for more than 12 months were more satisfied than those who had only participated 1 to 3 months. Quantitatively, of the 24 measured evaluation categories grouped into 6 fields that measured the effects of participation in the cooking programs, the greatest effects were found on the children's self-confidence and sense of achievement in the social emotion field, and the lowest effect was found on their writing ability in the language field. In addition, scores were higher when the cooking activities were performed in a private cooking school environment as compared to a cultural center environment. Scores were also higher when the educational program lasted 7 to 9 months as compared to only 1 to 3 months.
