  • The subject of the paper is to discern the validity of the translation theory put forward by the ESIT(Ecole Sup?rieur d'Interpr?tes et de Tranducteurs, Universit? Paris III) and how it differentiates from the other translation theories. First, the paper will analyze the theoretical aspects put forward by examining the equivalence that may be discerned between the french and korean translation in relation to the original english text that is being translated. Employing the equivalence in translation may shed new insights into the unterminable discussions we witness today between the literal translation and the free translation. Contrary to the formal equivalence the dynamic equivalence by Nida suggests that the messages retain the same meanings whether it be the original or a translated text to the/for the reader. In short, the object of the dynamic equivalence is to identify the closest equivalence to the suggested source language. The concept of correspondence and equivalence defined by theoriticians of translation falls to the domain of dynamic equivalence suggested by Nida. In translation theory the domain of usage of language and the that of discourse is denoted separately. by usage one denotes the translation through symbols that make up language itself. In contrast to this, the discourse is suggestive of defining the newly created expressions which may be denoted as being a creative equivalence which embodies the original message for the singular situation at hand. The translator will however find oneself incorporating the two opposing theories in translating. Translation falls under the criteria of text and not of language, thus one cannot regulate or foresee any special circumstances that may arise in translation of discourse, the translation to reflect this condition should always be delimited. All other translation should be subject to translation by equivalence. The interpretation theory in translation (of ESIT) in effect is relative to both the empirical and philosophical approach and is suggestive of new perspective in translation. In conclusion, the above suggested translation theory is different from the skopos theory and the polysystem theory in that it only takes in to account the elements that are in close relation to the original text, and also that it was developed for educational purposes opening new perspectives in the domain of translation theories.

  • This thesis aims to analyze the political, social, and cultural activities of the Acehnese ethnic group living in Jakarta, Indonesia. Based on analysis, this thesis examines how their ethnicity and national identity have been formed and expressed. For this purpose, this study deals with Taman Iskandar Muda (hereinafter referred to as TIM), a group of Acehnese transmigrants living in Jakarta. The immigration of the Acehnese to Jakarta started in the 1950s and the number of Acehnese people living in Jakarta persently amounts to 100,000. TIM, which was organized by the first generational of immigrants, functions to group Acehnese immigrants of various generations and class. Forum Keprihatinan Untuk Aceh(hereinafter referred to as Forka), an organization designed to solve the political problems of TIM, undertook various activities to maintain the peace of Aceh as the representative of TIM. Through those activities, TIM and Forka were able to confirm the feeling of homogeneity among the Acehnese who were living in their hometown and also strengthen their identity within the organizations. However, the fact that TIM and Forka put their focus on humanitarian activities paradoxically shows the political limitations that they sustain. TIM and Forka take care not to make their humanitarian activities seem as if they intend to openly strengthen their Acehnese identity and deny their Indonesian one. These political characteristics of Forka's identity are commonly found in groups that practice long-distance nationalism, as transmigrants in diaspora circumstances do. In the organization of TIM, there exists the menasah, which is a space where discussions of the ethnicity and the nation are practiced. As it is the space for local exchange, menasah reveals the identity of TIM through educational/social activities and public services. Menasah functions as the public arena where people practice ethnic identity on the basis of national integration. As a minority ethnic group living in Jakarta and its neighborhood, they are accustomed to double and selective political activities, social activities, and cultural practices. In order to adapt themselves to the double circumstance that they are faced with, they should live extemporaneously, and this life may be the fate that minority ethnic and transmigrants should endure.

  • This study aims to analyze the visual modeling process of pre-service elementary teachers on the reflection of light. The analytical framework was developed from three aspects; coherence, correspondence, and commensurability of the modeling thinking proposed by Halloun (2004). 20 pre-service elementary teachers participated and were randomly paired to observe the reflection of light. They were asked to construct the visual model individually at first and then collaboratively. Comparing personal and cooperative models, the level of correspondence and commensurability in some groups has increased, despite the lack of special educational treatment. In addition, three main features were found in their reasoning process. First, the level of commensurability to apply the law of reflection continued to change fluidly depending on the circumstances and often the verbal and visual explanations did not match. Second, in the process of visual modeling, correspondence was often given priority over commensurability and coherence. Third, in a situation where correspondence and commensurability are at odds with each other, participants resolved this conflict and developed reasoning through review and revision of the auxiliary hypothesis. Several implications have been discussed for effectively guiding visual modeling activities.

  • This study is about the direction of how to compose the information domain curriculum in the domestic subject matter centered curriculum system. To this end, subject-centered and competency-centered curriculum were compared and analyzed, and how the information domain was organized in two types was suggested. In spite of emphasizing competency, the domestic curriculum was judged to be inclined to the subject-centered curriculum because it emphasized the presentation of national-level educational goals, a subject learning model, and textbooks. As examples of the information domain subject-centered curriculum, the information domain of the elementary practical subject and the middle school information curriculum were presented, and the SW convergence curriculum was presented as an example of a progressive curriculum. Under such circumstances, it was emphasized that in order for the learner to lead a life in an intelligent society in the future through the information domain including SWAI content, it must be explicitly described in a subject-centered perspective with computer science as the parent study.

  • The most important property for coming up to the global change and leading the knowledge-based future is human resources who has capacity to make a high value-added knowledge. For whom teaching knowledge and experiences related to the managing medical organization, it is very important and significant to make efforts to reflect educational goal, contents and teaching methods satisfying the new era's demands in the curriculum quickly. To develop a hospital management curriculum which is receptive to the change of medical industry and educational circumstances, analysing syllabuses of 19 departments of the year 2007 and surveying of professors, students and persons in charges of hospital administration are used. The syllabuses of 19 departments of 22 colleges were opened for this study. The medical record and other subjects take the most part of curriculums, while the number of subjects related to management or administrational practice are relatively small. The short of these subjects are obstacles to cultivate capacity and quality of students medical organizations look for. As the result of satisfaction measurement, hospital-management professors gave 3.41 points, students gave 3.29 points to the current curriculum and administrators who has been experienced to employ graduates majored in medical management gave 3.06 points.(5 points = full mark) Alternative ways are suggested to complement these problems as below: Strengthening and deepening study such subjects as strategy planning, management, marketing, managing medical disputes, quality improvement, PR, advertisement; changing informations and establishing cooperative programs between school and industry.

  • Teachers are the primary agent of didactic transposition. In the process of transposing mathematical knowledge presented in mathematics curriculum and textbooks to mathematical knowledge for teaching in a classroom, teachers are significantly influenced by not only teachers' personal factors but also circumstances and constraints existing inside and outside of classrooms. Therefore, to understand teachers' didactic transposition, we need to analyze influence of institutional and socio-cultural factors on teachers' didactic transposition process. Identifying factors and constraints influencing teachers' didactic transposition provides important opportunities to have a deeper understanding of teachers' didactic transposition and develop their classroom practices. This study analyzed secondary mathematics teachers' perspectives on didactic transposition by exploring factors influencing their didactic transposition process using their reflective journal about their classroom practices. As a result, we identified the five factors influencing participating teachers' didactic transposition. We also found that different teachers had different extent of influence of five factors on their didactic transposition. Based on the results, we discussed ways to help mathematics teachers' didactic transposition.

  • Computational chemistry is one of the chemistry fields that deals with the theoretical chemistry problem using computer calculations and can be described as the chemistry lab moved on computer space. In line with recent enhancement of processing capability of computers, utilization of high performance computer cannot be overemphasized in the field of computational chemistry in performing complex calculation of huge molecular structure and simulation. While they have to use commands and consoles for high performance computer to execute complex calculation of huge molecular structure and simulation, most of students in natural science and engineering, who are not experts in computer technically, are likely to be unaware of UNIX. Under the circumstances, web-based educational support system for computational chemistry is needed to enable them to practice computational chemistry, even not knowing UNIX command. In this study, e-Chem, one of such educational support systems, is developed by using Liferay portal platform, which is a Java open source more oriented to standard and outstanding in its content management and collaboration function than other web portals. By using this system, even students who are not familiar with computer, are expected to take part in lab classes and save time learning Unix command and also enhance the learning efficiency by using familiar interface.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine and analyse factors related to the actual status and practice of breast-feeding during an infant period to grasp elements detrimental to breast-feeding and, therefore, provide basic information useful for its effective practice and encouragement. Method: From April 1 to June 30, 2001, this study was carried out with the mothers of 337 who were 6 months old, as of the surveyed date, of infants born in 2002 and registered in Seongju-gun Public Health Center, Gyeongsangbug-do Province. The method for its survey included both of the visiting and telephone interviews, and questions were mainly about the mothers' general characteristics(3 questions), infants' general characteristics(3 questions), environmental characteristics of infant delivery( 4 questions), support to breast-feeding(4 questions), understanding of breast-feeding(5 questions), and feeding type during the 1 to 6-month period after birth. Result: 1. The feeding type during the I-month period after birth showed that the breast-feeding accounted for 42.4%, which was higher than dry milk-feeding(30%) or mixed milk-feeding(26.8%). However, it began to be lower than the dry milk-feeding from the 2-month period after birth. During the 6-month period, the breast-feeding accounted for 28.6% which was lower than 56.5% of the dry milk-feeding. 2. The mothers who were encouraged by their delivery clinic to and were educated to breast-feed infants accounted for 55.4% and 41.4%, respectively, which were relatively low. The understanding of breast-feeding indicated that the responses were positive from the view point of mother & infant health, but negative from mother's physical form. 3. It was shown that the lower the educational background of mother(p〈0.05) and the higher the unemployment of mother(p〈0.001), the higher the positive understanding of breast-feeding, and that the higher the entire support to breast-feeding, the more positive their understanding. 4. It was also shown that the lower the educational background of mother(p〈0.05), the higher the unemployment of mother(p〈0.001), the more the experience in breast-feeding at a delivery clinic(p〈0.01) and the faster the initial feeding(p〈0.001), the higher the rate of breast-feeding. 5. The factor having an effect on breast-feeding included a delivery clinic's encouragement to breast-feed(p〈0.001), understanding of breast-feeding(p〈0.01), father's comment on feeding method(p〈0.05) and mother's employment(p〈0.05). Discussion: In order to encourage the breast-feeding, as shown above, it is required, fist of all, to offer pregnant women an education about importance and excellence of breast-feeding and its appropriate method before delivery in advance to result in a positive comprehension of the breast-feeding. To do that, both the publicity activities and program development designed to encourage the breast-feeding must be performed in advance at the government level. In addition to that, the mother-infant space as ‘rooming-in’ available for breast-feeding immediately after delivery must be prepared on the basis of legal and administrative support. Finally, female employees' leave after childbirth must be performed for the purpose of productive welfare and circumstances also be prepared for breast-feeding, such as a children's home at work.
