프레팅 피로균열 영향을 고려한 항공기 맞대기중첩연결 구조 손상허용성 연구 (A Study on Damage Tolerance Assessment for the Butt Lap Joint Structure with the Effects of Fretting Fatigue Cracks)

  • 항공기 주구조에서 맞대기중첩연결(Butt Lap Joint) 구조는 저속균열성장 개념의 손상허용설계를 한다. 이러한 연결부 구조는 볼트나 리벳 구멍 가장자리의 부재간 접촉면에서 프레팅에 의한 피로균열이 발생되어 다지점 균열성장 거동을 하는 경우가 많다. 본 연구에서는 초기 모서리균열을 내재한 볼트연결 맞대기중첩연결 구조시편에 프레팅 조건을 달리하여 비행하중스펙트럼 하에서 피로균열 성장거동을 실험적으로 분석하고 잔여강도를 비교하여 프레팅이 균열성장과 손상허용성에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. 또한 기존의 응력강도식으로 모서리균열의 성장패턴을 예측하고 실험결과와 비교 분석하였다.

  • Spot welding is very important and useful technology in fabrication of an automobile body structure. Because fatigue strength of the spot welding point is however considerably lower than parent metal due to stress concentration at the nugget edge, accurate stress analysis and fatigue stength evaluation of spot welded lap joint are very important to valuate the reliability and durability of automobile body structure and to establish a criterion of long life fatigue design. Many invetigators have studied so far onsystematic fatigue strength evaluation with various methods. It is however necessary to verify their reliability and abailability for practical application to fatigue design of spot welded structure, Thus,in this study, fatigue strength evaluation methods of spot welded lap joint. which are the maximum principal stress method. the fracture and availability with the Weibull probability distribution. From the results, it was found that reliability and availability withe the Weibull probaility distribution. From the results, it was found that reliability and availability of the suggest fatigue strength estimation methods methods were higher than $\Delta$P-$N_f$ relation. However, among them , reliability of the maximum pricipal stress method was the highest.

Fatigue Design of Various Type Spot Welded Lap Joints Using the Maximum Stress

  • Recently, a new issue in designing spot welded structures such as automobile and train car bodies is to predict an economical fatigue design criterion. One of the most typical and traditional methods is to use a ΔP-N$\sub$f/ curve. However, since the fatigue data on the ΔP-N$\sub$f/ curve vary according to the welding conditions, materials, geometry of joint and fatigue loading conditions, it is necessary to perform the additional fatigue tests for determining a new fatigue design criterion of spot-welded lap joint having specific dimension and geometry. In this study, the stress distributions around spot welds of various spot welded lap joints such as in-plane bending type (IB type), tension shea. type (TS type) and cross tension type (CT type) were numerically analyzed. Using these results, the ΔP-N$\sub$f/ curves Previously obtained from the fatigue tests for each type were rearranged into the Δ$\sigma$-N$\sub$f/ relations with the maximum stresses at the nugget edge of the spot weld.

A Strategy for the Simulation of Adhesive Layers

  • The high accurate simulation of very thin glue layers based on the finite element method is still connected to many problems which result from the necessity to construct a complicated mesh of essentially different sizes of elements. This can lead to a loss of accuracy, unstable calculations and even loss of convergence. However, the implementation of special transmission elements along the glue ling and special edge-elements in the near-edge region would lead to a dramatic decrease of number of finite elements in the mesh and thus, prevent unsatisfactory phenomena in numerical analysis and extensive computation time. The theoretical basis for such special elements is the knowledge about appropriate transmission conditions and the edge effects near the free boundary of the adhesive layer. Therefore, recently proposed so-called non-classical transmission conditions and the behavior near the free edge are investigated in the context of the single-lap tensile-shear test of adhesive technology.

Shear Strength of an Aluminum Alloy Bonded with a DP-460 Adhesive: Single Lap-shear Joints

  • Single lap-shear joints (SLJ) specimens with and without partial round fillets were fabricated to measure the average shear strength of adhesives. The effects of the length of the adherend on the SLJ specimens were also investigated. An epoxy adhesive was used to bond aluminum alloy. Tensile tests were performed on the adhesive bulk specimens to measure the mechanical properties. The finite element analysis (FEA) method was used to measure the adhesive stress distributions, i.e., the peel and shear stresses, on the bonded part. The experimental results revealed that the specimen consisting short length of adherend and without the partial round fillets exhibited the smallest average shear strength of adhesive among the investigated specimens. FEA revealed that the low average shear strength for the specimen with a short adherend length was caused by high stress concentrations on the adhesive at the edge of the bonded part.

경량 차체용 고장력 강판의 Spot 용접과 피로설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Spot Welding and Fatigue Design of High Strength Steel Sheets for Light Weight Vehicle Body)

  • The recent tendency in the automobile industries is toward light weighting vehicle body to improve the problems by environmental pollution as well as improving fuel cost. The effective way to reduce the weight of vehicle body seems to be application of new materials for body structure and such trend is remarkable. Among the various materials for vehicle body, stainless steel sheet (for example, 301L and 304L), TRIP steel and cold rolled steel sheets are under the interests. However, in order to guarantee reliability of new material and to establish the long life design criteria of body structure, it is important and require condition to assess spot weldability of them and fatigue strength of spot welded lap joints which were fabricated under optimized spot welding condition. And, recently, a new issue in the design of the spot welded structure is to predict economically fatigue design criterion without additional fatigue tests. In general, for fatigue design of the spot-welded thin sheet structure, additional fatigue tests according to the welding condition, material, joint type, and fatigue loading condition are generally required. This indicates that much cost and time for it should be consumed. Therefore, in this paper, the maximum stresses at nugget edge of spot weld were calculated through nonlinear finite element analysis first. And next, obtained the ${\Delta}P-N_{f}$ relation through the actual fatigue tests on spot welded lap joints of similar and dissimilar high strength steel sheets. And then, the ${\Delta}P-N_{f}$ relation was rearranged in the ${\Delta}{\sigma}-N_{f}$ relation. From this ${\Delta}{\sigma}-N_{f}$ relation, developed the fatigue design technology for spot welded lap joints of them welded using the optimized welding conditions.

복합재료 Single-Lap 본딩 조인트의 파괴 특성에 대한 실험 및 수치해석 연구 (Testing and Numerical Analysis on the Fracture Characteristics of Composite Adhesive Bonded Single-Lap Joints)

  • 본 논문에서는 이차 본딩으로 접착된 복합재료-복합재료 Single-Lap 조인트 시편에 대해 인장 시험 및 수치해석을 통해 그 파손 특성을 조사하였다. 시편시험에서는 시험 중에 CCD 카메라 및 AE 센서를 이용해 초기 균열의 발생 및 진전양상에 대한 시험적인 관찰을 수행하였다. 시편에 대해 기하비선형 유한요소해석 및 VCCT(Virtual Crack Closure Technique)기법을 이용해 시편의 거동 및 변형율에너지방출률을 계산하고 세 가지 관찰된 초기 균열 모드에 대해 파손강도를 계산하였다. 인장시험에서 초기 균열은 모서리 계면 균열, 측면 계면 균열 및 층간 분리 균열의 세 가지 형태로 최종 파손의 60∼90% 하중에서 발생하였다. 주된 파손 모드는 접착제 계면 파손(adhesive failure) 및 적층판의 첫 번째 및 두 번째의 층간 분리 파손이었다. 두꺼운 접착제 층을 갖는 시편들은 초기균열이 낮은 하중에서 발생하였지만 균열진전에 대한 저항성 및 파손하중은 높게 나타났다. 층간분리파손은 주로 두꺼운 접착제의 경우에 발생하였다. 세 가지 초기 균열 모드에 대해 변형률에너지방출률은 Mode I의 G값이 Mode II의 G값보다 크게 계산되었다. Mode I 및 전체 G값은 측면 계면 균열, 모서리 계면 균열, 층간분리 균열의 순서로 크게 계산되었다.

고분자 접착제와 금속 피착재의 접착강도에 미치는 피착재 두께의 영향 (Effects of Adherend Thickness on Adhesive Strength between Organic Adhesive and Metal Adherend)

  • 고분자 재료인 접착제와 금속 피착재 사이의 정량적인 접착강도 측정은 중요하다. 고분자 재료인 접착제와 금속 피착재 사이의 접착강도 측정 시, 피착재의 종류와 두께 변화가 접착강도에 미치는 영향에 대해 연구하였다. 금속 피착재의 종류로는 알루미늄과 스텐리스강 2종류가 선택되었으며, 접착강도의 측정에는 돌리테스트와 전단시험이 사용되었다. 인장응력 방식의 돌리테스트로 고분자 접착제와 금속 피착재 사이의 접착강도 측정 시, 금속 피착재의 두께 변화는 접착강도의 크기에 거의 영향을 미치지 않았으나, 피착재의 종류에 따라 접착강도는 다르게 나타났다. 반면, 전단시험으로 고분자 접착제와 금속 피착재 사이의 접착강도 측정 시, 금속 피착재의 상대적 두께 변화는 접착강도의 크기에 영향을 주었다. 이유는 전단시험 시 접착부의 모서리 부분에서 발생하는 피착재의 휘어짐 현상은 접착부에 추가적인 인장응력을 발생시켜 접착강도를 낮추는데 기여하기 때문이다. 이 연구의 결과, 돌리테스트는 피착재의 두께가 변해도 접착강도의 변화가 거의 없기 때문에 고분자 접착제와 금속 피착재의 정량적인 접착강도 측정 시 널리 사용될 것으로 예상된다.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the repaired joint strength among several edge profiles after denture repair. For this study, eight edge profiles were used for repair methods and five self-curing resin brands were used for repair materials. Break away loads were tested after 1 hr., 24 hrs. and 1 week. Instron was used for testing the transverse strength of repaired specimen. The results were as follows. 1. Repaired joint strength was about 35-65% of that of original specimen. 2. Joint strengths of round, inverse knife, inverse rabbit, lap ogee joint were higher tnan that of traditional simple butt joint 3. Joint strength of the simple butt joint was low significant. 4. Joint strengths after 1 hr. specimen were lower than those of 24 hrs. and 1 week specimens in joint strengths. 5. There were no significant differences between 24 hrs. and 1 week specimens in joint strengths. 6. It look more than 24 hours to gain satisfactory physical property after repairing the fractured denture base when self-curing resin was used for repair.
