Railway wheels in service are regularly checked by ultrasonic testing, acoustic emission and eddy current testing method and so on. However, ultrasonic testing is sometimes inadequate for sensitively detecting the cracks in railway wheel which is mainly because of the fact of crack closure. Recently, many researchers have actively fried to improve precision for defect detection of railway wheel. The development of a nondestructive measurement tool for wheel defects and its use for the maintenance of railway wheels would be useful to prevent wheel failure. The induced current focusing potential drop(ICFPD) technique is a new non-destructive tasting technique that can detect defects in railway wheels by applying on electro-magnetic field and potential drops variation. In the present paper, the ICFPD technique is applied to the detection of surface and internal defects for railway wheels. To defect the defects for railway wheels, the sensor for ICFPD is optimized and the tests are carried out with respect to 4 surface defects and 6 internal defects each other. The results show that the surface crack depth of 0.5 mm and internal crack depth of 0.7 mm in wheel tread could be detected by using this method. The ICFPB method is useful to detect the defect that initiated in the tread of railway wheels

Knowledge of the manufacturing process of semiconductor devices in order to obtain a copper pattern using chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) planarization using a Wafer polishing process is applied with a thickness of the copper measured in real time, which need to be precisely controlled by, where the acquisition the actual thickness of the sensor value with the calculated value in terms of error can occur in the process. Approximated the actual measurement values so as to obtain a method using a simple average, moving average, compared to the results using filters onggo Strom real-time measurements of the thickness of the units of the control system to reduce the variation in the implementation of the method described for the.
Major cause of defects in steam generator tubes at nuclear power plant is the accumulation of magnetite and other byproducts of corrosion in the crevice gap between support plates and tubes. Since damaged tubes result in contamination of the secondary coolant by the radioactive primary coolant, they represent a safety hazard. Early detection of magnetite buildup is, therefore, imperative in order to take remedial measures such as chemical flushing. Although the eddy current testing is being used for the inspection of steam generator tubes, the interpretation of resulting signals is generally a difficult task. This paper uses the phase of sensor coil emf as the test signal to find a way of easier signal interpretation. Numerical study using FEM shows that the shape of resulting signal is good for identifying the relative position of the probe to the support plate, and for discreminating the different shapes and degrees of magnetite buildup in the crevice gap region.
In general, it is known that the wear rate of the abrasive and the removal rate of the metal bond of the grinding wheel should be balanced to maintain the depth of the insulating surface layer to an appropriate level. In order to accomplish, the high quality ELID grinding, therefore, it is necessary to measure the depth of the insulating layer in real-time and then to control the electrolytic conditions to keep the depth to a certain level. In this study, an in-process measurement system of the insulated layer using two gap sensors - a capacitor type and an eddy current type - developed and the change of the status of the insulated layer during ELID grinding is detected. And from the experimental data, we have chosen the best mathematical model to predict the depth of the insulating layer.

Hemisphere shapes were machined for different tool paths and machining conditions with ball endmill cutters. It was also found out how feedrate affect the precision of the machining and also tried to study the most suitable feedrate in specific cutting condition. Tool deflection, cutting forces and shape accuracy were measured according to the inclination position of the sculptured surface. As the decreasing of inclination position angle, the tool deflection was increased due to the decreased cutting speed when the cutting edge is approaching toward the center. Tool deflection when upward cutting IS obtained less than that of downward cutting and down-milling in upward cutting showed the least tool deflection for the sculptured surface. For down-milling, the cutting resistance of the side wall direction is larger than that of feed direction. It was found that the tool deflection is getting better as tool path is going to far from the center for convex surface.
This paper deals with the development and application of an inner corrosion detector for the ACSR(Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced) power lines. The detector runs on an ACSR power line and inspects the inner corrosion of the conductor using the technology of the nondestructive eddy current test. It is consists of an ECT sensor, signal processing units, a RF transmitter/receiver, and etc.. The experimental result through field tests shows the detector can efficiently find both the zinc and aluminum loss of ACSR power lines.

Eddy current induction is used in a wide range of electronic devices, for example in detection sensors. Due to the advances in computer hardware and software, the need for 3D computation and system comprehension is a requirement to develop and optimize such devices nowadays. Pure theoretical models are mostly limited to special cases. On the other hand, the classical use of commercial Finite Element (FE) electromagnetic 3D models is not computationally efficient and lacks modeling flexibility or robustness. The proposed approach focuses on: (1) implementing theoretical formulations in 3D (FE) model of a detection device as well as (2) an automatic Volumetric Estimation Method (VEM) developed to selectively model the target finite elements. Due to these two approaches, this model is suitable for parametric studies and optimization of the number, location, shape, and size of PCB receivers in order to get the desired target discrimination information preserving high accuracy with tenfold reduction in computation time compared to commercial FE software.

A portable mould oscillation analyzer with an integrated computer, developed by POSCO, records the movement of the mould in every spatial direction. The system uses the gap sensors to measure the mould movement (displacement) in two horizontal directions according to the mould narrow and broad faces and the vertical strokes in the four corners of mould. The gap sensor is a non-contacting minute displacement-measuring device using the principle of high frequency eddy current loss. The mould oscillation diagnostic system integrates the gap sensors, their converters and the industrial portable computer with plug-in data acquisition boards. In an own expert module, which is included in the diagnosis program, one can obtain much information about the mould oscillation equipment.
