The purpose of this study is to estimate the economic value of boat fishing experience marine tourism activity in Jeju Island's Chagwido. The economic value is estimated as consumer surplus using count data models including the truncated Poisson model and the truncated negative binominal distribution model. This study collects the effective 504 questionnaires from boat fishing experience tourists in Jeju Island's Chagwido. The truncated negative binominal distribution model was statistically more suitable and valid than other models. The truncated negative binominal distribution model was applied to estimate consumer surplus as economic value from boat fishing experience tourism activity in Jeju Island's Chagwido. A consumer surplus value per trip was estimated as about 209,900 won. The annual economic value from boat fishing experience tourism activity was estimated as 273,700 won in Jeju Island's Chagwido. Consequently, boat fishing experience marine tourism activity has a very large economic value in Jeju Island.

The global economy has been very difficult due to the recent impact of COVID-19. Korea is also pushing for strong quarantine policies such as K- quarantine and social distancing, but the economy is hardly recovering. In particular, the economic situation began to change rapidly depending on the export and domestic market, the public's interest in the economy increased, and companies became more sensitive. In order to estimate this rapidly changing economic situation, major advanced countries have also developed models that can periodically monitor the economy at the government level. Through this, by periodically reporting the economic trends, the public and companies can be aware of the economic trends to some extent. This study analyzed the cases of weekly business trends in advanced countries and developed a model of weekly economic activity suitable for Korea. To verify this, indices closely related to the economy such as mobility, industrial activity, face-to-face consumption, and psychology were discovered and estimated. As a result of the study, the weekly economic activity index was judged to be very useful in capturing short-term real economic activity. In the future, in order to secure the robustness and stability of the index and to increase the reflection of reality, model improvement and parameter estimation should be performed regularly.

Purpose - This paper is an empirical investigation of the mediation effect of innovation activity in industry transformation considering the relationship between the semiconductor industry and high-quality economic development. The research questions are whether the semiconductor industry drives high-quality economic development and if so, what is the semiconductor industry's role in high-quality development? We found that the semiconductor industry has clearly improved the quality of economic development, and its comparative advantage has significantly increased per capita national incomes. Furthermore, innovation activity proved to be an intermediary factor for the semiconductor industry to promote high-quality economic development. The world economy should aim to reasonably develop the international semiconductor industry and cultivate innovation markets. Design/methodology - Our empirical model considers the relationship between the semiconductor industry, innovation activity, and high-quality economic development. We constructed an analysis framework based on data from 199 World Bank economies between 1995 and 2019, and we used a mediation effect method to calculate the total effect of the semiconductor industry on promoting high-quality economic development, the indirect effect of the semiconductor industry on promoting innovation activity, and the mediation effect of these innovation activities on the promotion of high-quality economic development. Findings - The results show that the semiconductor industry has significantly promoted high-quality economic development. This is true even after the robustness test of grouping and alternative variables was applied. An analysis of the mechanism shows that promoting patents, scientific research, efficient government, and urban management innovation are important mechanisms for the semiconductor industry to release high-quality development dividends. Originality/value - Although it has been shown that specific industries like semiconductors can affect high-quality economic development through industrial upgrading, few researchers have attempted to empirically test the impact of the semiconductor industry on high-quality economic development. In this paper, we use a mediation effect model, alternative variables and a grouping test to find the internal mechanisms of the comparative advantage of the semiconductor industry in high-quality economic development from the perspective of innovation activity.

Theoretical literature agrees on the interaction between financial instability and economic activity but explains it's dynamic in two points of view: one is that the transmission mechanism occurs in one unique regime and the other reckons a shift of regime leads to the alteration of the transmission mechanism. This study aims to find evidence of the multi-regime transmission for ASEAN developing countries. The author employs the technique of Threshold vector auto regression using the financial stress index standing for financial instability. Monthly data is collected, covering a period long enough with many episodes of high stress in recent decades. There are two conclusions: (1) A financial shock has a negative and stronger impact on economic activity during a high-stress period than it does during a low-stress period; (2) the response of economic activity to a negative financial shock during high-stress periods is stronger than it is during normal times. The findings point to the importance of the financial stress index as an additional early warning indicator for the real economy sector, as well as the positive effect that a reduction in financial stress may have on economic activity, implying the importance of "unconventional" monetary policy in times of high financial stress.

The purpose of this study is to estimate the economic value of skin scuba marine tourism activity in Jeju Island. The economic value is estimated as consumer surplus using count data models including the truncated Poisson model and the truncated negative binominal distribution model. This study collects the effective 369 questionnaires from skin scuba marine tourists through three times in Jeju Island. The truncated Poisson model was statistically more suitable and valid than other models. The truncated Poisson model was applied to estimate consumer surplus as economic value from skin scuba in Jeju Island. A consumer surplus value per trip was estimated as about 4,081,633 won. The annual economic value from skin scuba marine tourism activity was estimated as 8,428,571 won in Jeju Island. Consequently, skin scuba marine tourism activity has a very large economic value in Jeju Island.

The purpose of this study was to identify the factors determining the participation of the poor elderly in economic activity. This study analyzed secondary data of the second wave of Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing. Binary logistic regression was used to identify the factors that are associated with the economic activity of the poor elderly. The results of the analyses showed that age, gender, region, public assistance, education, health status, chronic illness, contacts with acquaintances, and support from children were associated with participation in economic activity. The study's findings have several implications for policies and services. The study identified the need for an age- and gender-specific approach to promoting participation in economic activity among the poor elderly. Regional differences should also be considered in the creation of work opportunities for older adults. In terms of human capital, the positive effect of good health indicates that strategies are needed to address the needs of older adults with health issues. In addition, there is a need for more jobs for elderly job seekers with high levels of education. Finally, policy makers and practitioners should explore interventions for enhancing the social network involvement and community support for the elderly living in poverty.

본 연구의 목적은 농촌 노인의 사회활동, 여가활동, 그리고 삶의 만족도 간의 영향관계를 분석하는데 있었다. 60세 이상의 농촌노인들로부터 324부의 구조화된 설문서를 수집하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인구사회학적 특성 중 건강상태와 경제상태가 농촌노인의 삶의 만족에 영향을 미치고 있었다. 둘째, 농촌 노인의 사회활동에서 경제활동, 종교활동 및 지역사회 참여활동은 전반적 삶의 만족에, 종교 활동과 지역사회 참여활동은 주관적 건강만족에, 경제활동은 주관적 경제만족에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있었다. 셋째, 농촌 노인의 여가활동에서 취미활동, 학습활동 및 사교활동은 전반적 삶의 만족에, 취미활동과 사교활동, 소일거리가 주관적 건강만족에, 취미활동과 사교활동이 주관적 경제만족에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있었다.

The article proposes a method of modeling a comprehensive indicator for evaluating the effectiveness of regional management of innovation activity. This will make it possible to assess the effectiveness of personnel, financial and credit and foreign economic activity of the regions from the standpoint of an integrated approach. The modeling technique is proposed to be carried out using the tools of taxonomic analysis and the calculation of a complex indicator of the effectiveness of the innovation activity management.

The purpose of this study was to explore socio-economic effects of participation in weekend farming. This study was carried out through review of literature and descriptive survey. The data for the study were gathered from 135 randomly sampled urban people who participated in the weekend farming activity. Small scale weekend farming activity of the urban people led them to better quality of life in terms of educational and socio-economic conditions. The major findings of the study were as follows; 1) Weekend farming supplied fresh vegetables to participating urban households, however, showed relatively low economic effects. 2) Participating urban people have experienced new relationships with other participants and could better understood their family members of weekend farming activity. 3) Participating urban people responded that they could improve their quality of life through weekend farming activity. 4) Weekend farming activity proved to be a useful educational experience for children and youth.

본 연구는 경제활동자의 구강 건강과 자살 생각과의 관련성을 알아보기 위해 우리나라 국민건강영양조사의 자료를 바탕으로 연구하여 경제활동자의 자살 예방과 구강건강 증진을 위한 기초자료로 활용하고자 한다. 자료분석은 복합표본 빈도분석, 복합표본교차분석, 복합표본 로지스틱 회귀분석을 통계프로그램 IBM SPSS Statistics 20.0으로 사용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과, 구강 건강과 자살 생각과의 관련성은 저작 불편 있는 경우 2.49배로 유의하게 높게 나타났다. 따라서 경제활동자들의 자살생각을 감소시킬수 있는 요인으로 구강건강관리가 필요함을 알 수 있다.
