The research method is a literature review on conscious fashion based on relevant professional and academic books and articles, designer collections, and campaigns from 2010 to the present, when conscious fashion as eco-friendliness and sustainable fashion became a trend. The concept and characteristics of conscious fashion were examined them in terms of environmental, ethical, social, and cultural aspects and the concept and characteristics of zero waste through previous studies and case analysis. Through this, the trends of zero-waste design in conscious fashion were categorized into: first, an eco-friendly design orientation that utilizes reuse and reduce methods of clothing and fabric; second, a variable design orientation that practices zero waste designs by using diversity of patterns through deconstruction, disassembly, and various cutting methods. Third, long-term circulation of design through the recycling of resources by second-hand trade, the utilization of stock clothing, resale, and availability of eco-friendly materials through the development of new technologies. As an active practice for the sustainable fashion industry expands, it is expected that continuous research will be conducted as a future core value to realize the possibility of long-term circular zero-waste design through social responsibility and conscious recycling, reuse, and reproduction.

  • This study aims to explore the perceptions of MZ's on eco-friendly consumption and their preferences for eco-friendly souvenirs. The top reasons for buying upcycling products include design, price, differentiation, and environmentalism, with design having the most influence on product purchase. Design is also a top consideration when buying upcycling souvenirs. Regarding environmental issues, they were most aware of the seriousness of environmental pollution and thought that recycling of fashion products was necessary. When it comes to eco-friendly fashion purchasing behaviors, the most common choice is to buy clothes that will last longer than those that are in fashion. Upcycling products are more likely to be purchased when there is a concern for the environment or an interest in eco-friendly products. In addition, those who have purchased upcycling products are more likely to be aware of and interested in eco-friendly fashion products and recycling of fashion products. Women are more likely than men to be concerned about environmental issues, and women are also more likely to be aware of upcycling souvenirs. In future research, it would be useful to study the relationship between upcycling products, environmental issues, consumer behavior, and upcycling souvenirs.

I studied and analyzed the survey which targeted on highschool students whether the recognition of low-carbon green growth can be effected to the eco-friendly clothing attitude or not, and school education effect. The research shows the green growth recognition affects significantly to the eco-friendly clothing attitude. Also the study proves the education of green growth awareness and the eco-friendly clothing attitude informs the realizations of environmental and green growth concepts. The education of clothing habits affects our eco-friendly clothing attitude. Therefore this education is necessary for school curriculum and it must be expanded in any areas both in 'environment and green growth' course and 'home economics' courses in secondary education. The education of Eco-friendly clothing habit should be keep researched specifically and develop further and further.

  • This study aims to investigate determinants that included personal values, pro-environmental beliefs, and proenvironmental norms for enhancing consumers' purchase intention of eco-friendly outdoor wear exploring Stern(2000)’s the value-belief-norm theory. A survey was conducted with females and males between the ages of 20 and 60 who have experienced buying outdoor wear products. A total of 300 responses were analyzed by descriptive analysis, factor analysis, a reliability test, an independent samples t-test, and regression analysis. The results of this study were as follows: 1) The results of exploratory factor analysis and reliability test on the personal value clearly showed factorial structures including the social power, ecologic value, openness, equality, and altruistic value. 2) There are significant differences in personal value sub-dimensions, pro-environmental beliefs, pro-environmental norm, and purchase intention of eco-friendly outdoor wear products according to respondents' gender and age. 3) Personal values, but not social power, affect pro-environmental beliefs; in turn, pro-environmental beliefs affect pro-environmental norms, which then affects purchase intentions of eco-friendly outdoor wear. The findings support the conclusion that there is significant causality among personal value such as ecologic, openness, equality, and altruistic, pro-environmental belief, and pro-environmental norm. This study suggests pragmatic implications to understand outdoor wear consumers' socio-psychological and demographic factors and to augment purchase intentions of eco-friendly outdoor wear products.

  • The purpose of this research is to suggest diverse directions for eco-friendly knit designing through analyzing the characteristics of Stella McCartney's knit designs. The first stage of the research was to explore the characteristics of eco-friendly fashion design based on literature review. The next stage was to categorize the characteristics of eco-friendly design found in Stella McCartney' knit fashion based on the precedent analysis. The data collected showed 274 examples from 40 Stella McCartney collections, including Spring, Resort, Pre-Fall, and Fall Ready-to-wear collections between 2013 and 2022. All information was collected using www.vogue.com. As a result, the characteristics of Stella McCartney's knit design were classified into four directopms: 1) Perpetual Naturalism, 2) Cultural Complexity, 3) Practical Functionality, and 4) Subcultural Reproducibility. The first characteristic, 'Perpetual Naturalism' values the continuous symbiosis between animals and human beings, thereby protecting global environmental value. Stella McCartney's knit design continuously showed a longing for nature's beauty through fashion design, which allowed people to enjoy the meaning of symbiosis between human beings and animals. Second, 'Cultural Complexity' is the characteristic that appears in Stella McCartney's knit fashion design when collaborating with various artists and/or mixing traditional knit motives inspired by traditional cultures and retro moods. Third, 'Practical Functionality' is the design characterisitic that allows items to be worn for a long time as it is comfortable, simple, and practical. Stella McCartney's knit designs pursue easy-to-wear designs that are comfortable and have practical designs with simple details. Lastly, 'Subcultural Reproducibility' showed in Stella McCartney's knit designs reflect Hippie culture, which pursued a rejection of conventional values, and promoted sustainable energy. This culture peaked in the 1960s and 1970s, when 'Beatles' were mainly working. Additionally, retro styled knit designs inspired by other various music genres from the 1980s and 1990s appeared in this category as well.
