국내 옥수수 재배적지 예측을 위한 R 기반의 기후적합도 모델 병렬화 (R Based Parallelization of a Climate Suitability Model to Predict Suitable Area of Maize in Korea)

  • 기후변화에 대응하기 위해 다양한 작부체계 구축이 시도될 수 있다. 변화하는 기후조건에서 작물들이 최적의 재배지에 배치될 수 있도록 기후적합도를 평가하는 것이 중요하다. EcoCrop 모델과 같은 월별 기후자료를 사용하여 여러 작물의 재배적합도들 계산하는 모델을 사용할 경우, 고해상도의 전자기후도를 사용하여 우리나라의 복잡한 지형을 고려한 재배 적합도 계산이 가능하다. 그러나, 방대한 기후자료의 처리를 위해 여러 전산자원들을 동시에 사용할 수 있는 병렬처리 기술 개발이 선행되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 공개용 통계분석 도구인 R을 기반으로 EcoCrop 모델을 병렬로 구동할 수 있는 스크립트를 개발하고, 이를 격자형 기후자료에 적용하여 옥수수의 재배적지를 예측하였다. 병렬 처리를 시도한 결과 CPU 코어 개수 증가에 따른 처리 시간 단축이 선형적으로 이루어지지는 않았으나 처리시간의 상당부분을 단축할 수 있었다. 예를 들어 16개의 CPU를 사용하였을 때 이상적인 시간보다 1.5배가 넘는 시간이 소모되었으나 총 시간이 90%정도 단축되었다. 이러한 기술들을 작물 생육 모델들이 개발되지 않은 작물들에 적용할 경우, 기후변화 조건에 적응할 수 있는 작부체계 설계를 지원할 수 있을 것이다. 또한, 본 연구에서 사용한 기술들은 CPU 코어가 많은 워크스테이션에서 작동이 가능하나, 여러 컴퓨터를 연결한 중형 컴퓨터에 사용할 수 있는 MPI 기술을 적용할 수 있는 기술개발이 필요할 것이다.

제주지역 도로결빙 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on Prediction of Road Freezing in Jeju)

  • Road freezing caused by snowfall during wintertime causes traffic congestion and many accidents. To prevent such problems, we developed, in this study, a system to predict road freezing based on weather forecast data and the freezing generation modules. The weather forecast data were obtained from a high-resolution model with 1 km resolution for Jeju Island from 00:00 KST on December 1, 2017, to 23:00 KST on February 28, 2018. The results of the weather forecast data show that index of agreement (IOA) temperature was higher than 0.85 at all points, and that for wind speed was higher than 0.7 except in Seogwipo city. In order to evaluate the results of the freezing predictions, we used model evaluation metrics obtained from a confusion matrix. These metrics revealed that, the Imacho module showed good performance in precision and accuracy and that the Karlsson module showed good performance in specificity and FP rate. In particular, Cohen's kappa value was shown to be excellent for both modules, demonstrating that the algorithm is reliable. The superiority of both the modules shows that the new system can prevent traffic problems related to road freezing in the Jeju area during wintertime.

Pot Life Assessment and Mechanical Property of Fast Curing Polyurethane Developed with Eco-friendly Pre-polymer

  • 4,4'-Methylenebis(2-chlorobenzenamine) (MOCA)-free fast curing polyurethanes were prepared. In this study, the processibility of a fast curing polyurethane system was characterized by assessing the pot life. The obtained pot life of the polyurethane was 6-8 s, indicating that this prepolymer-curative system is appropriate for ribbon flow casting. The influence of the NCO index on the viscosity and mechanical properties was evaluated. The viscosity, tensile strength, tear strength, and hardness of the as-prepared polyurethanes showed an increasing trend, with an increase in the NCO index, whereas the elongation at break increased initially and then decreased with an increase in the NCO index. The gel fraction and crosslink density showed a direct correlation with the NCO index, which substantiated the improved mechanical properties at the higher NCO index. The coefficients of friction and abrasion deteriorated with an increase in the NCO index.

공동주택단지 생태면적 적용 특성 분석 : 생태면적률, 생태면적 다양성, 생태면적 연계성을 중심으로 (Analysis of Eco-Area Application Characteristics of Apartment Complexes : Focusing on Eco-Area Ratio, Eco-Area Diversity, and Eco-Area Connectivity)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 국외와 국내 생태면적 관련 제도의 평가지표 항목 차이를 고찰하고 분석지표를 도출한 후 준공된 공동주택단지를 대상으로 생태면적률이 전체 적용되기 전과 후, 최근 준공 공동주택단지의 생태면적 분석지표로 구분하여 생태면적 특성 적용 차이점을 분석하고 그 시사점을 제시하는 것이다. 연구의 공간적 범위는 준공이 완료된 수도권과 비수도권 공동주택단지를 대상으로 하였다. 준공된 공동주택단지 36개소를 분석 대상지로 선정, 생태면적 기초자료를 구축 후 그 자료를 활용하여 생태면적률, 생태면적 다양성, 생태면적 연계성의 세가지 분석지표로 구분하여 수도권 지역, 비수도권 지역의 지역별, 분양주택단지・임대주택단지 등의 공동주택단지 유형별, 대규모・중규모・소규모의 단지 규모별로 분석하였다. 분석 결과 생태면적률과 생태면적 공간유형 다양성은 비수도권 지역보다 수도권 지역이, 임대주택단지보다 분양주택단지가 더 높고 다양한 것으로 나타났다. 공동주택단지 규모가 소규모보다는 중규모, 대규모일 경우가 생태면적률이 더 높고 생태면적 다양성도 더 다양하게 반영되었다. 생태면적 연계성의 경우 수도권 지역이 비수도권 지역보다 생태면적 연계 개소와 연계 유형이 더 많고 다양하게 나타났다. 본 연구의 시사점은 생태면적률과 생태면적 다양성을 확보하기 위해 공동주택단지 개발시 중규모, 대규모 개발을 고려할 필요가 있다. 생물다양성 향상을 위해 공동주택단지 내부와 외부의 생태면적 네트워크 연계가 필요하다. 향후 단지내부의 생태면적 네트워크 연계 후속연구가 필요하다.

기술녹색도 평가모델 개발 및 적용사례 (An Evaluation Model Development of Technology Green Index(TGI) and It's Application to Defense R&D Projects)

  • In this paper, we have developed an evaluation model of technology green index(TGI) which includes 3 evaluation factors and 13 indicators. Furthermore, as presenting the degree of relative importance among evaluation factors and indicators for all R&D evaluation stages and all green technology areas, and applying the proposed model to 5 defense projects, we have found applicability of the model to evaluation of defense R&D projects. The results of evaluation using this model can be used to monitor the performance of project life cycle and develop R&D investment strategy of green technology using portfolio analysis.

철도전철화 효과 계량지표 개발에 관한 연구 (A study on development of measuring index about railway electrification effectiveness)

  • High speed and large transfer capability of railroad has been an important issue in Korean since KTX opening at 2004. Improvement projects for railway electrification are progressed in the conventional line as well as high speed line because various operation plan is performed such as interaction between high speed line and conventional line and operation of tilting train etc. Especially, railway electrification has many advantages which are cost effective and eco-friendly. But it also has some problems such as construction costs and accidents due to electrification. Therefore this paper developed measuring index of electrification railway benefit. By comparing between diesel and electrical locomotive, the operations of before and after the electrification and measurements quantitative index such as energy efficiency, enlargement of transfer capability, environmental pollution and maintenance and efficiency of operation is presented. In the future, Overall benefit and cost of railway electrification will be analyzed.

Rapid ecosystem services assessment of Mundok Ramsar wetland in Democratic People's Republic of Korea and opportunities to improve well-being

  • Background: The understanding of ecosystem services can be quantified and qualitative to assess the impacts of changes in the ecosystem to support human well-being. In the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, sustainable use of ecosystem services has attracted the interest of a range of decision-makers. However, although there is a concern for biodiversity, natural ecosystem, and their services, linking ecosystems with conservation planning remains challenging. Results: This study assessed the first qualitative ecosystem services provided by the Mundok wetland with decision makers of the West/Yellow Sea region. Furthermore, this study applied the Rapid Assessment Wetland Ecosystem method to support natural resources management, improving living conditions. We identified that cultural and supporting services index are highly provided, but preparing a plan to increase the provisioning and regulating services in Mundok wetland is necessary. Conclusions: The assessment results can provide helpful information for ecosystem services assessment, habitat conservation, conservation planning, and decision-making at local level.

  • 최근 들어 경제 운전 및 친환경 운전 즉 에코 드라이빙에 대한 관심과 필요성이 사회적 이슈로 등장하였다. 에코 드라이빙을 위한 요인 중 가장 중요한 요인은 바로 운전자의 운전 성향이다. 본 논문에서는 에코 드라이빙을 위한 운전자의 운전성향분석을 위한 주요 요소들을 도출하고 이를 이용하여 에코 지수(Eco Index)를 산출하는 방법에 대하여 기술한다. 에코지수는 주행중인 차량으로부터 실시간으로 주행 정보를 수집한 후 이를 분석하여 계산되고 차량에 장착된 단말기를 통하여 운전자의 경제운전 및 친환경 운전 성향이 제공되며 서버로 전송되어 운전자의 장기적인 운전 성향 분석에도 사용된다.

고속철도는 고속도로에 비하여 저탄소 친환경적인가? (Does High-Speed Rail Have Superiority over Motorway in Terms of CO2 Emission?)

  • PURPOSES : The aim of this article is to compare and identify eco-friendly competitiveness between (regional) motorway and high-speed rail(HSR) from the perspective of $CO_2$ emission in the Republic of Korea. METHODS : In order for an analysis of low-carbon competitiveness between the two modes, $CO_2e$ emission, $CO_2eppk$ (equivalent $CO_2$ gram per passenger kilometer), is employed as a comparison index. As for HSR, the index is calculated based on the passenger transport data and the gross of $CO_2e$ produced by Kyungbu high-speed line in 2013. Additionally, the gross of $CO_2e$ is computed by the greenhouse gas emission factors of domestic electricity generation mix. Regarding the index of motorway, it is directly calculated using both the official $CO_2e$ emission factor and the passenger-car occupancy of motorway. RESULTS : The results revealed, in the case of inter-regional transport, that the $CO_2e$ emission of displacement-based cars is 54.9% less than that of HSR, as the domestic electric power systems heavily relies on the thermal power plants over 66%. Note that internal combustion engines commonly used for vehicles are more energy-efficient than steam-driven turbines usually utilized for thermal power generation. CONCLUSIONS : It can be seen, at the very least in our study, that HSR has no superiority over motorway in the case of $CO_2e$ emission under the situations of domestic electricity generation mix. In addition, advanced eco-friendly vehicles have strong advantages over HSR. Therefore, all-out efforts should be made to develop and harvest renewable energy sources in order to achieve low-carbon HSR, sparing fossil fuels.

Experimental and modelling study of clay stabilized with bottom ash-eco sand slurry pile

  • Clay soils are typical for their swelling properties upon absorption of water during rains and development of cracks during summer time owing to the profile desorption of water through the inter-connected soil pores by water vapour diffusion leading to evaporation. This type of unstable soil phenomenon by and large poses a serious threat to the strength and stability of structures when rest on such type of soils. Even as lime and cement are extensively used for stabilization of clay soils it has become imperative to find relatively cheaper alternative materials to bring out the desired properties within the clay soil domain. In the present era of catastrophic environmental degradation as a side effect to modernized manufacturing processes, industrialization and urbanization the creative idea would be treating the waste products in a beneficial way for reuse and recycling. Bottom ash and ecosand are construed as a waste product from cement industry. An optimal combination of bottom ash-eco sand can be thought of as a viable alternative to stabilize the clay soils by means of an effective dispersion dynamics associated with the inter connected network of pore spaces. A CATIA model was created and imported to ANSYS Fluent to study the dispersion dynamics. Ion migration from the bottom ash-ecosand pile was facilitated through natural formation of cracks in clay soil subjected to atmospheric conditions. Treated samples collected at different curing days from inner and outer zones at different depths were tested for, plasticity index, Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS), free swell index, water content, Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC), pH and ion concentration to show the effectiveness of the method in improving the clay soil.
