단 채널 GaAs MESFET의 속도 포화영역에서 2차원 전위 도출을 위한 해석적 모델 (An analytical model for deriving the 2-D potential in the velocity saturation region of a short channel GaAs MESFET)

  • 본 논문에서는 단 채널 GaAs MESFET의 포화영역에서의 I-V 특성을 도출하기 위한 해석적 모델을 제안하였다. 기존의 단 채널 GaAs MESFET에 대한 해석이 채널 pinch-off의 개념이 도입되는 모델이었던 반면, 본 논문에서는 저자의 소도 포화 영역이 유한한 채널 폭을 갖으면서 전류 연속 조건을 만족하도록 공핍영역의 2차원 전위 분포 식을 도출하였다. 또한 소도 포화영역의 길이를 채널 전체 길이, 채널 도핑 농도, 게이트 전압 및 드레인 전압의 함수로 도출하여 포화영역에서의 Early 효과를 보다 합리적으로 설명할 수 있음을 보이고 있다.

  • Recently, various activ filters such as current type and voltage type have been proposed to suppress harmonics caused by nonlinear load due to the use of semiconductor switching devices. At the early stage, active filters are used only to suppress harmonics. However, it has been proposed that they offer more functions such as voltage regulations, improvements of power factor and 3 phase unbalance. This study presents a combined function of active filter and a UPSs with one power processing stage.

  • From a manufacturing standpoint it would be desirable to monitor the degradation of drawing die, that is essential for the maintenance of die quality, the evaluation of product integrity and the reducing scrap. Acoustic emission is powerful method in monitoring fine wire drawing process, especially in detecting the die fracture at early stage. Experiments also suggested that acoustic emission sigals contained valuable information regarding the stage of a drawing process such as the surface appearance of products and the condition of lubrication. These informations are AE monitoring techniques a possible tool in monitoring the drawing process operation. In order to approach this, this paper discusses the nature of acoustic emission signal presented which illustrate the effects of wire and die material, lubricants, and drawing speed on the generation and the mean voltage level of acoustic emission signal. From these experimental, results, we understanded controlling factors of acoustic emission generation.

  • Discharge characteristics research for high voltage and large current electric machinery design, the development of ozonizer with high yield and efficiency for environment improvement, generation of plasma & laser and EMI EMC are research fields of Enersy & Environment Electromagnetic Laboratory(EEEL) in the school of electrical & electronic engineering of Yeungnam University. On this paper, we would like to introduce the discharge and ozone generation characteristics of ozonizers designed and manufactured by EEEL. After starting research for fluid gas discharge characteristics early in the 1980's, high voltage nozzle(HVN) type ozonizer, neon lamp(Nelamp) type ozonizer, ozone lamp(Olamp) type ozonizer and multi-discharge type ozonizer(MDO) have been investigated since 1990.

N-Type Calcium Channels

  • The early studies of cardiac and smooth muscle cells provided evidence for two different calcium channels, the L-type (also called high-voltage activated [HVA]) and T-type (low-voltage activated [LVA]). These calcium channels provided calcium for muscle contractions and pace-making activities. As might be expected, the number of different calcium channels increased when researchers studied neurons and the identification of the neuronal calcium channels has proven to be much more difficult than with the muscle calcium channels. There are two reasons for this difficulty; (1) a larger number of different calcium channels in neurons and (2) many of the different calcium channels have similar kinetic properties. This review uses the N-type calcium channel to illustrate the difficulties in identifying and characterizing calcium channels in neurons. It shows that the discovery of toxins that can specifically block single calcium channel types has made it possible to easily and rapidly discern the physiological roles of the different calcium channels in the neuron, Without these toxins it is unlikely that progress would have been as rapid.

Topological and Statistical Analysis for the High-Voltage Transmission Networks in the Korean Power Grid

  • A power grid is one of the most complex networks and is critical infrastructure for society. To understand the characteristics of a power grid, complex network analysis has been used from the early 2000s mainly for US and European power grids. However, since the power grids of different countries might have different structures, the Korean power grid needs to be examined through complex network analysis. This paper performs the analysis for the Korean power grid, especially for high-voltage transmission networks. In addition, statistical and small-world characteristics for the Korean power grid are analyzed. Generally, the Korean power grid has similar characteristics to other power grids, but some characteristics differ because the Korean power grid is concentrated in the capital area.

  • The paper describes a new technique for the shape design of a bell-type porcelain locke insulator in contaminated environment. Early studies on the contamination performance of insulators indicated the need for an improvable shape to provide adequate insulation strength at normal operating voltages. In this paper, under lightly and heavily contaminated site severity, the variation of voltage distribution to leakage path at insulator surfaces analyzed by the complex admittance matrix using finite element method. By this results, the improvement of shape of insulators could be approached to the available condition in contaminated environments. In applicating to compare a standard disc type with a fog disc type insulator, this design technique is valid.

  • Synthesis and characteristics of Cu nanopowder were considered by in-situ characterization method using SMPS in pulsed wire evaporation process. With increasing pressure in chamber, particle size and degree of agglomeration increased by increase of collision frequency. Also, it was found from the XRD analyses and BET measurements that crystallite size and particle size decreased with elevating applied voltage. However, SMPS measurements and TEM observation revealed the increase of particle size and degree of agglomeration with increase of applied voltage. These results suggested that particle growth and agglomeration depend on overheating factor in chamber at the early stage and thermal coagulation in filtering system during powder formation until collection.

  • There is needed the quard channel triple wave lengths pyroelectric infrared flame detector to recognize the unique characteristics of fire sources in various type. This system detects the triple wave lengths of infrared flame emitting maximum radient energy and scattering frequency of flame. The quard channel infrared flame detector detects the duplicate wave lengths of maximum radient energy to enhance the accuracy of detecting fire. Especially this paper focuss on development of the self diagnosis function system including contamination, temperature and input voltage. Therefore, the prevention and early suppression of fire is available.

  • The initial electrochemical performance of ceramic fuel cell with thin-film electrolyte was evaluated in terms of peak power density ratio, open circuit voltage ratio, and activation/ohmic resistance ratios at 500℃. Hydrogen and air were used as anode fuel and cathode fuel, respectively. The peak power density ratio reduced as ~17% for 40 minutes, which rapidly decreased in the early stage of the performance evaluation but gradually decreased. The open circuit voltage ratio decreased with respect time; however, its time behavior was remarkably different with the reduction behavior of the peak power density ratio. The activation resistance ratio increased as ~15% for 40 minutes, which was almost similar with the time behavior of the peak power density ratio.
