  • After concrete casts, temperature decent and shrinkage bring volume changes of concrete pavement. Microcracking and cracking in concrete pavement are caused by these volume changes. As a result, durability of concrete pavement is deteriorated. Recently, Very-Early Strength Latex Modified concrete(below:VESLMC) from the beginning of High-Way is used as urgent repair material for bridge deck. The advantage of VESLMC is that compressive and flexural strength at 3 hours age are 4.5MPa and 21MPa respectively. It allows the traffic to open in 3 hours. But, this material has the problem which is early-age shrinkage cracking caused by water self-dissipation with rapid hydration reaction and water evaporation with body dry. Unfortunately, until now, the research about early-age shrinkage of VESLMC leaves something to be desired. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to present the early-age shrinkage of VESLMC respect to latex contents and shrinkage ratio to maximum length change that can help field engineers' skill. Latex contents of 0, 5, 10, 15, $20\%$ in standard of same workability in VESLMC are selected by experimental variables. After initial set, shrinkage value was measured with 10mm LVDT for 3 days. The results of maximum shrinkage ratio were 0.019, 0.017, 0.023, $0.027\%$ respectively.

  • The way to shorten a construction period is considered to an very important technology element as reducing the form work removal periods with promoting strength revelation own concrete. This study presents an experimental study on the development method, material for early strength concrete. The result is as follow : In OPC, the compressive strength has over 5MPa after 26hours at 20$^{\circ}C$ curing and another 36hours at 10$^{\circ}C$ curing. Used with early strength potland cement, the compressive strength has over 5MPa after 15hours at 20$^{\circ}C$ curing temperature and another 30hours at 10$^{\circ}C$ curing temperature.

  • The effects of replacement level, curing method and chemical admixtures were investigated in the cement-fly ash paste. The strength of cement-fly ash paste is lower than that of controlled cement paste only and the differences increase with replacement level. However, in steam curing, strength of cement-fly ash pastes is improved, especially, at early ages. In order to improve early strength, the use of $Na_2SO_4$in cement-fly ash paste increases the quality of concrete. In addition, improvement of strength of concrete including 30% of fly ash can be obtained and achieves the highest strength compared to other concrete mixtures.

  • We carried out the feasibility study of super early self compacting concrete having the characteristics of 1 day demoulding without steam curing, high flowable concrete with self compacting, high strength and high durability etc. Here, We test and selected by several methods using high early cement with and without admixtures for the condition of super early strength self compacting concrete's manufacture (SSCC). We sucessed to meet at the goal of SSCC with 30∼35N/㎟ in 1 day, without steam curing and with slump flow about 60-65cm and suggest various concrete products to apply the developed SSCC for practical use in factory and in site place

  • The objective of this study is to examine the effect of frost damage immediately after placement on compressive strength of concrete. Obviously frost damage produced under low curing temperature at early ages causes the loss of compressive strength of concrete. In order to find the degrees of the loss of compressive strength, compressive strength tests was peformed at 7 and 28-day ages on concrete specimen with various curing temperature history. The results from the tests showed that the loss of compressive strength relative to concrete cured under isothermal temperature at $20^{\circ}C$ was generally from 20 to 50% for 7-day ages and below 20% for 28 day ages. Considering the serious loss of compressive strength over 50% for some cases, careful attention may be needed to placing of concrete under low atmospheric temperature.

  • Recently, the structure is higher and larger, so that the application of high-strength concrete is increased, And as the development of construction skills, it is possible to place during the winter. Concrete work during winter is indispensible to shorten time of completion and cut costs. When concrete work during winter is placed, it has anxiety that concrete freeze at low temperature. As repetition of concrete's freezing cause reduction of durability, it is necessary for mixing to pay attention to air content and W/C ratios. Accordingly, in this study, we estimate the frost resistance by air content and W/C ratios, and development of strength after early-frost damage in the high-strength concrete during the cold weather. In this study, it could be confirmed that factors which were air content, W/C ratios and early curing period, affected on the frost resistance.

  • Recently. cold weather constructions were popularized because of the importance of construction term. The special method about mix design and curing of concrete was being planned to conduct cold weather constructions, but these method were not considered in a low temperature time. A Strength revelation of concrete is delayed in a curing condition of low temperature. If a construction was loaded in this case, cracks or remaining deformations are generated in a construction. So, a strength revelation characteristic in early age was investigated to secure early strength of concrete in curing condition of a low temperature. In this study, the method about concrete mix design was presented to secure construction safety in a low temperature time.

  • Although the accelerators are used at the early stage to control setting-time and strength of concrete when cold-weather concrete is utilized, no security of workability occurs because the early hydration makes them react rapidly. Therefore, the tablet used in previous study is applied in this study. In particular, because a small amount of fly-ash being replaced in cold weather concrete of domestic, fly-ash concrete incorporating the tablet is discussed in workability by elapsed time, early strength to ensure the development of adequate strength, and freezing-thawing resistance. As a result, both 0.5 and 1.0% tablets were found to be superior. Thus, it was verified in cold weather concrete incorporating fly-ash that workability can be secured, as well as the development of early strength to prevent early frost.

  • Fly ash used as a cement replacement material increases the long term strength and also improves the durability of concrete and mortar. However, the use of fly ash is a little in spite of great benefit. In order to increase the consumption of fly ash, it has to be used as a cement replacement materials in the production of mortar and concrete, and the reduction of early strength development due to the use of fly ash also has to be diminished. In this study, many chemical compounds which accelerate the early strength was investigated. The $Na_2$$SO_4$, $K_2$$SO_4$, Triethanolamine were selected and applied to the production of mortar. It was found that they enhance the early strength development of mortar(1, 3day) and decrease the amount of $Ca(OH)_2$, and also increase the production of ettringite. According to the results of mercury instruction test, the pores ranged from 0.01 $\mu\textrm{m}$ to 5$\mu\textrm{m}$ were decreased and it was also found in the analysis of X ray and SEM that fly ash increases the amount of ettringite at early ages.
