  • We introduce flat e-covers of modules and define e-perfect rings as a generalization of perfect rings. We prove that a ring is right perfect if and only if it is semilocal and right e-perfect which generalizes a result due to N. Ding and J. Chen. Moreover, in the light of the fact that a ring R is right perfect if and only if flat covers of any R-module are projective covers, we study on the rings over which flat covers of modules are (generalized) locally projective covers, and obtain some characterizations of (semi) perfect, A-perfect and B-perfect rings.

  • For the question "when is E(RR) a flat left R-module for any ring R?", in this paper, we deal with a class of modules partaking in the hierarchy of injective and cotorsion modules, so-called Harmanci injective modules, which turn out by the motivation of relations among the concepts of injectivity, flatness and cotorsionness. We give some characterizations and properties of this class of modules. It is shown that the class of all Harmanci injective modules is enveloping, and forms a perfect cotorsion theory with the class of modules whose character modules are Matlis injective. For the objective we pursue, we characterize when the injective envelope of a ring as a module over itself is a flat module.

  • A new remote access system for a 1.3 MV high voltage electron microscope has been developed. Almost all essential functions for HVEM operation, huck as stage control, specimen tilting, TV camera selection and image recording, are successfully embedded into this prototype of the remote system. Particularly, this system permits perfect and precise operation of the goniometer and also controls the high resolution digital camera via simple Web browsers. Transmission of control signals and communication with the microscope is accomplished via the global ring network for advanced applications development (GLORIAD). This fact makes it possible to realize virtual laboratory to carry out practical national and international HVEM collaboration by using the present system
