  • For the systems engineering process-based development, all requirements of 'Smart UAV Development Program' have been constructed as the database of CORE(R), computer aided systems engineering tool. In this paper, the construction and application of model-based test & evaluation system using those database is described, which prevents omitting essential tests and performing unnecessary rests and enables automatic reflection of database changes and standardization of document formats.

Combination of Classifiers Decisions for Multilingual Speaker Identification

  • State-of-the-art speaker recognition systems may work better for the English language. However, if the same system is used for recognizing those who speak different languages, the systems may yield a poor performance. In this work, the decisions of a Gaussian mixture model-universal background model (GMM-UBM) and a learning vector quantization (LVQ) are combined to improve the recognition performance of a multilingual speaker identification system. The difference between these classifiers is in their modeling techniques. The former one is based on probabilistic approach and the latter one is based on the fine-tuning of neurons. Since the approaches are different, each modeling technique identifies different sets of speakers for the same database set. Therefore, the decisions of the classifiers may be used to improve the performance. In this study, multitaper mel-frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCCs) are used as the features and the monolingual and cross-lingual speaker identification studies are conducted using NIST-2003 and our own database. The experimental results show that the combined system improves the performance by nearly 10% compared with that of the individual classifier.

  • Workflow management system provides automation of job processes by maintaining shareability on information about various job process schedules and persons related to those schedules. Existing workflow management systems use file or database to store the information generated in those systems. However, file or database system could manage only non-complicated information for the workflow but not the information resources of an enterprise which is complicated and of various formats. Therefore, we need a data management system that could control those information resources. This system should manage the data which are distributed at several places geographically. Information Repository could meet those requirements. Information Repository may integrate, store and manage information resources requested by application systems. We have an international standard for the information repository, Information Resources Dictionary System(IRDS). The IRDS, however, does not support distributed environment. In this paper, we design and implement an information repository based on IRDS that may be operated in distributed environment. We verify that this information repository is more effective and is more effective than any other file or database system.

Multibiometrics fusion using $Acz{\acute{e}}l$-Alsina triangular norm

  • Fusing the scores of multibiometrics is a very promising approach to improve the overall system's accuracy and the verification performance. In recent years, there are several approaches towards studying score level fusion of several biometric systems. However, most of them does not consider the genuine and imposter score distributions and result in a higher equal error rate usually. In this paper, a novel score level fusion approach of different biometric systems (dual iris, thermal and visible face traits) based on $Acz{\acute{e}}l$-Alsina triangular norm is proposed. It achieves higher identification performance as well as acquires a closer genuine distance and larger imposter distance. The experimental tests are conducted on a virtual multibiometrics database, which merges the challenging CASIA-Iris-Thousand database with noisy samples and the NVIE face database with visible and thermal face images. The rigorous results suggest that significant performance improvement can be achieved after the implementation of multibiometrics. The comparative experiments also ascertain that the proposed fusion approach outperforms the state-of-art verification performance.

  • Nowadays an information exchange on Bn such as B2B electronic commerce is spreading. Therefore the systematic and stable management mechanism for storing the exchanged information is needed. For this goal there are many research activities for connection between XML application and relational database. But because XML data have hierarchical structures and relational database can store only flat-structured data, we need to store XML data in object-relational database that support hierarchical structure. Accordingly the modeling methodology for storing XML data in object-relational database is needed. In order to build good quality application systems, modeling is an important first step. In 1997, the OMG adopted the UML as its standard modeling language. Since industry has warmly embraced UML its popularity should become more important in the future. So a design methodology based on UML is need to develop efficiently XML applications. In this paper, we propose a unified design methodology for In applications based on object-relational database using In. To this goal, first we introduce a XML modeling methodology to design W3C XML schema using UML and second we propose data modeling methodology for object-relational database schema to store efficiently XML data in object-relational databases.

시스템 구축 과정에서 소프트웨어 자동생성 도구의 적용 (Automated Generation of Software Systems in Systems Construction)

  • 1970대 이후 CASE 도구들은 꾸준히 발전되어 오고 활용은 보편화되고 있다. 많은 CASE 도구들은 보다 확대된 기능을 제공하기 위하여 통합되고 연계되고 있다. 한편 E-R 모델은 모델링 도구로서 널리 사용되고 있으며 대부분의 CASE 도구들이 E-R 모델을 지원하고 있다. 본 연구에서는E-R 모델에 내재한 여러 가지 특성과 응용시스템의 기본 요소들 사이에 관계를 설정하고 이를 이용하여 응용시스템을 자동적으로 생성할 수 있는 방법을 제시한다. 먼저 E-R 모델로부터 일정한 규칙에 의해 업무 프로그램, 프로그램간의 링크, 지속적 데이터 등으로 구성된 정형적 응용시스템이 생성된다. 정형적 시스템은 이용자를 위한 인터페이스 설계를 거쳐 최종적인 응용시스템으로 생성된다. 본 연구에서는 제안된 자동생성과정의 실현가능성을 가상의 시스템을 대상으로 검증해 본다. 본 연구에서 제안된 응용시스템의 자동생성 방안은 CASE 도구들의 모델링 기능과 코드 생성 기능을 연계하고 통합할 수 있는 하나의 대안을 제시할 것으로 기대된다. 동시에 종래에 데이터모델링 도구로서 주로 인식되어 온 E-R 모델에 관한 연구를 응용시스템 전체에 대한 모델링의 관점으로 확대할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

SQL/XML의 출판 함수를 이용한 관계 데이터의 XML 뷰 정의 및 처리 (Defining and Processing XML View of Relational Data with Publication Functions of SQL/XML)

  • Since XML emerged as a standard for data exchange on the web, it has been widely used for applications like e-Commerce, CRM, and BI. However, it is common that most of business data is stored in relational database systems, and it is expected that business data management would still be centered around the relational database systems. As such, the technique of viewing relational data as XML and processing XML queries against it is required. To meet such a need, in the SQL/XML standard, the functions to publish relational data as XML are provided. In this paper, we propose the techniques of providing an XML view of relational data defined by an SQL/XML statement in DTD(Document Type Definition), and of processing XPath queries against the XML view by translating them into SQL/XML statements, and describe the validation of such techniques through implementation and tests.

e-Transformation 수행 방안에 관한 코오롱글로텍(주)의 사례연구 (A Case Study on e-Transformation of Kolon Glotech, Inc.)

  • 본 연구는 전통적 기업인 코오롱글로텍(주)의 인터넷을 이용한 비즈니스 변환(e-Transformation) 과정에 대한 사례 분석을 통해 e-비즈니스 환경에서의 비즈니스 프로세스 재설계 및 비즈니스 네트워크 재설계 방안을 도출하였다. 본 연구에서 제시된 전통적 기업의 e-Transformation 수행 방안은 다음과 같다. 1) 네트워크지향적인 비즈니스 프로세스 재설계; 2) e-비즈니스의 백 본(Backbone)으로서 ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning) 시스템 구축 운용; 3) 공유 데이터 베이스(Shared Database)를 이용한 비즈니스 기능의 투명성(Transparence) 확보; 4) 고객에 대한 이해 제고를 통한 고객만족 지향적 정보기술(IT) 인프라 구축; 5) 데이터 및 업무 표준화 추진; 6) JSP(Java Server Pages)와 VPN(Virtual Private Network)과 같은 최적의 정보기술 사용 등이다. 본 연구의 결과는 전형적인 전통적 기업의 전자적 조직 변환(e-Transformation) 추진의 업무지침으로 활용될 수 있을 것이며, 향후 전통적 기업의 e-Transformation 수행과 관련된 이론 개발에 유용한 근거자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Performance of Database Driven Network Applications from the User Perspective

  • An understanding of performance of database driven network applications is critical in combating slow performance of e-commerce web sites, besides efficient web page design, and high quality and well-maintained web server equipment. This paper describes a method of measuring performance from the user viewpoint, which can help enormously in making realistic assessment of true performance of database driven applications. The performance measurements were taken at user locations by using several specially designed JavaScript functions along with ASP scripts. A performance study is presented in this paper, comparing performance of data access using stored procedures with the traditional way of querying a database. It is generally believed that stored procedures have performance benefits as they are pre-compiled. However, our study shows that the data access approach using stored procedures provides significant benefits(by about 30%) over the traditional approach for querying a commercial MySQL database, only when retrieving a substantial amount of data(at least 10,000 rows of data).

IMTAR: Incremental Mining of General Temporal Association Rules

  • Nowadays due to the rapid advances in the field of information systems, transactional databases are being updated regularly and/or periodically. The knowledge discovered from these databases has to be maintained, and an incremental updating technique needs to be developed for maintaining the discovered association rules from these databases. The concept of Temporal Association Rules has been introduced to solve the problem of handling time series by including time expressions into association rules. In this paper we introduce a novel algorithm for Incremental Mining of General Temporal Association Rules (IMTAR) using an extended TFP-tree. The main benefits introduced by our algorithm are that it offers significant advantages in terms of storage and running time and it can handle the problem of mining general temporal association rules in incremental databases by building TFP-trees incrementally. It can be utilized and applied to real life application domains. We demonstrate our algorithm and its advantages in this paper.
