Type specimens of Korean vascular plants in the Herbarium of the Komarov Botanical Institute (LE)

  • The article provides information on type specimens of 150 taxa of vascular plants from Korea, kept in the Herbarium of the Komarov Botanical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. For all specimens, type category is indicated. Lectotypes for the names of Clematis brachyura Maxim., C. spectabilis Palib., Corydalis wilfordii Regel, Poa viridula Palib., Polygonum marretii H. L$\acute{e}$v., P. sagittatum L. var. hallaisanense H. L$\acute{e}$v., P. taquetii H. L$\acute{e}$v. and P. thunbergii Sieb. et Zucc. var. coreana H. L$\acute{e}$v. were designated. Type specimens examined in this article belong to the taxa described by Russian botanists V.L. Komarov, K.J. Maximovicz and I.V. Palibin, French botanist A.A.H. L$\acute{e}$veill$\acute{e}$ (some with co-author E. Vaniot) and others.

Anti-Inflammatory Effect of the Root extracts from Hibiscus syriacus in LPS-Stimulated RAW264.7 Cells

  • Hibiscus syriacus (H. syriacus) as the national flower of Korea has been used as the herbal medicine in Asia. In this study, we evaluated the anti-inflammatory effect of 70% ethanol extracts from the root of Hibiscus syriacus (RHS-E70) and elucidated the potential signaling pathway in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells. RHS-E70 dose-dependently suppressed NO production by inhibiting iNOS and IL-${\beta}$ expression in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells. RHS-E70 inhibited the phosphorylation and degradation of $I{\kappa}B-{\alpha}$, which contributed to the inhibition of p65 nuclear accumulation and NF-${\kappa}B$ activation. Furthermore, RHS-E70 suppressed the phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and p38, which results in the inhibition of ATF2 phosphorylation and subsequent nuclear accumulation. These results indicate that RHS-E70 may exert anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting NF-${\kappa}B$ and MAPK/ATF2 signaling. From these findings, RHS-E70 has potential to be a candidate for the development of chemopreventive or therapeutic agents for the inflammatory diseases.

  • ELV 및 E-waste의 재자원화기술은 일본과 한국이 대동소이하나 일본과 비교해서 한국이 개선해야할 몇 가지 과제(개선책)를 지니고 있다. ELV에 있어서는 잠재성 오염물질(프레온가스, 에어백, ASR)의 처리가 불충분하다. ASR 70% 이상의 리싸이클링 없이는 ELV 재활용율 95% 달성은 불가능하다. E-waste에 있어서는 리싸이클링 산업체간의 심한 기술수준 격차를 평균화해야 한다. 또 투명한 유통경로와 리싸이클링 처리량의 향상을 위한 처리시스템이 구축되어야 한다. 일본의 정부 주도 리싸이클링 대형프로젝트는 좁은 분야로 집중되어 있고, 산업체의 참여비중이 높다.

Biochemical Properties of Acetylcholinesterase from the Larval Head of Bombyx mori

  • We investigated some biochemical properties of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) in the Bombyx mori larval head. 1% Triton X-100 (v/v) was suitable for extracting AChE from the silkworm larval head but 1 M NaCl was not suitable. PAGE analysis showed a single band of AChE that was detected by histochemical staining using acetylthiocholine as a substrate. AChE was also partially purified with Sepharose 6B and DEAE-cellulose column. Finally, the specific activity of partially purified enzyme solution was 7.6. The study on inhibitor specificity indicated that the enzyme under study was a true cholinesterase (ChE) or AChE. AChE activity was maximum at the substrate concentration of $5{\times}10^{-4}$ M and the excess substrate inhibited the AChE activity. The optimal pH and temperature were pH 7.0-9.0 and 30-35$^{\circ}C$.

독활 에탄올 추출물의 대장암 세포에서 Cyclin D1 단백질 분해 유도를 통한 세포 생육 억제활성 (Anti-proliferative Activity of Ethanol Extracts of Root of Aralia cordata var. continentalis through Proteasomal Degradation of Cyclin D1 in Human Colorectal Cancer Cells)

  • Background: In this study, we evaluated the anti-cancer activity and potential molecular mechanism of 70% ethanol extracts of the root of Aralia cordata var. continentalis (Kitagawa) Y. C. Chu (RAc-E70) against human colorectal cancer cells. Methods and Results: RAc-E70 suppressed the proliferation of the human colorectal cancer cell lines, HCT116 and SW480. Although RAc-E70 reduction cyclin D1 expression at the protein and mRNA levels, RAc-E70-induced reduction in cyclin D1 protein level occurred more dramatically than that of cyclin D1 mRNA. The RAc-E70-induced downregulation of cyclin D1 expression was attenuated in the presence of MG132. Additionally, RAc-E70 reduced HA-cyclin D1 levels in HCT116 cells transfected with HA-tagged wild type-cyclin D1 expression vector. RAc-E70-mediated cyclin D1 degradation was blocked in the presence of LiCl, a $GSK3{\beta}$ inhibitorbut, but not PD98059, an ERK1/2 inhibitor and SB203580, a p38 inhibitor. Furthermore, RAc-E70 phosphorylated cyclin D1 at threonine-286 (T286), and LiCl-induced $GSK3{\beta}$ inhibition reduced the RAc-E70-mediated phosphorylation of cyclin D1 at T286. Conclusions: Our results suggested that RAc-E70 may downregulate cyclin D1 expression as a potential anti-cancer target through $GSK3{\beta}$-dependent cyclin D1 degradation. Based on these findings, RAc-E70 maybe a potential candidate for the development of chemopreventive or therapeutic agents for human colorectal cancer.

무효횡류에 의한 병렬 운전 수력발전소 고장에 관한 연구 (A study on Parallel running Hydroelectric power Generation breakdown through Reactive Current)

  • 2대의 교류발전기 G1과 G2가 병렬운전 중 일 때 내부 기전력 E1, E2는 같은 위상이지만, 크기가 E1>E2로 될 때 두 발전기 사이에는 전위차가 있으므로 횡류 Ic가 흐르게 된다. 남강수력발전소는 주변압기(15MVA, 3.45/66kV) 한대에 수차발전기(7MVA) 2대가 병렬로 운전 중인데, 남강수력 제1호 수차발전기 AVR 시스템의 고장(RS 1기판)으로 G1 발전기의 내부 유기전압과 G2 발전기의 내부 유기전압에 차가 생기고, 이 양자의 차 전압을 전원으로 하여 발전기 G1과 G2를 환류하는 전류가 발생하여 발전 기동 중 비상정지 하였다. 본 논문에서는 고장원인 분석과정 및 AVR 시스템 보수 전 후 파형 비교 및 사고원인을 논하고자 한다.

이러닝 전문인력 양성 기반 문제점 및 개선방향

  • Nowadays, demand for human resource for the e-learning industry is rapidly increasing along with the expansion of e-learning market capacity. However, there arc numerous difficulties in expansion and industrialization of e-learning due to insufficient supply of human resources to meet the demand. Therefore, the goal of this study is to present various policy measures that can supplement the supply of e-learn ing manpower. Overall contents of this study focus on presenting the long-term directions for fostering of human resources for e-learning industry. Among these, role of government policies for fostering of human resources for e-learning industry is being particularly emphasized because e-learning industry is still at its infant stage.
