In an effort to produce high quality Angelica gigas in the southern area of Korea, a variety of mulching materials were used to prevent withering during the summer. The experimental results are summarized as follows. Soil water content and temperature under various mulching materials were higher than those without mulching, in all the cases studied. Among various mulching materials P. E.(polyethylene) mulching material showed the highest effect. The appearance of weeds was the lowest when using the black P. E. mulching, while growth of weeds was the greatest when using transparent mulching. Growth and development of the plant were better with P. E. mulching than straw mulching or no mulching, allowed for more and bigger leaves. The bolting rate was about 2∼5%, with a slightly larger value under P. E. mulching. Under P. E. mulching, probably due to good physical properties of the soil the number of roots was large, and the length and diameter were good. Active growth of roots under P. E. mulching resulted in a yield increase of the plant. The black P. E. mulching material showed a prominent effect on suppression of weed growth, and the black P. E. material was considered to be the most recommendable among various P. E. mulching materials when there is a lack of labor.

Objective : This study was performed to investigate the effect of oral administration of Oldenlandiae Diffusae Herba (ODH) on eosinophil, immunoglobulin-E and interleukin-4 in the experimental asthma induced by ovalbumin. Methods : Asthma was induced to Balb/c mouse by i.p. injection and aerosol immunization with ovalbumin. It was observed the change of the eosinophil number in the BALF. And, it was observed the change of the concentrations of IL-4 in BALF and splenocyte, IgE in serum by ELISA. Results : 1. The number of eosinophil in BALF was significantly decreased in ODH group copared with control group. 2. Concentration of IL-4 in serum, BALF and splenocyte was significantly decreased in ODH group compared with control group, respectively. 3. Level of IgE in serum was significantly decreased in ODH group compared with control group. Conclusion : We found that the effect of ODH extract in asthma was implicated in reductions of IL-4 released from Th2 cell, and decreases of IgE from plasma cell. These findings suggest that ODH extract can produce anti-asthmatic effect, which may playa role in allergen-induced asthma therapy.

정보기술 발전에 따라 정보 활용 및 처리 역량이 상승하면서 교육 환경의 지능화, 네트워크화로 기술간, 서비스 간 융 복합을 통한 다양한 학습 내용 및 방법이 출현하였으며, 최근 e-러닝 산업에서 스마트기기 보급 확산과 상황 적응적이고 자기 주도적 학습에 대한 소비자의 니즈가 증가하면서 새로운 형태의 교육시스템인 스마트러닝이 부각되고 있다. 이러한 교육 패러다임의 변화에 따라 기존의 교육 콘텐츠를 스마트기기에 적용하기 위해서는 콘텐츠 및 솔루션 구조의 개선이 요구되며, 또한 서비스 제공의 측면에서 다양한 교육 콘텐츠 연동과 교육 서비스 융합을 위한 표준 플랫폼 적용이 필요하다. 이에 본 논문에서는 JVM 환경의 PC 인터페이스를 통해 ePub 표준의 교육용 멀티미디어 콘텐츠 제작기능과 기존 서책형 파일 포맷의 자료 정보를 응용하기 위한 정보변환 모듈, 스마트 기기용 ePub 전자책 뷰어를 포함하는 통합 솔루션 소프트웨어인 ePub Solution을 설계하였다.

This study aimed to inhibit Escherichia coli (E. coli) O157:H7 artificially contaminated in fresh meat using bacteriophage. Among 14 bacteriophages, the highly lytic bacteriophage BPECO19 strain was selected to inhibit E. coli O157:H7 in artificially contaminated meat samples. Bacteriophage BPECO19 significantly reduced E. coli O157:H7 bacterial load in vitro in a multiplicity of infection (MOI)-dependent manner. E. coli O157:H7 was completely inhibited only in 10 min in vitro by the treatment of 10,000 MOI BPECO19. The treatment of BPECO19 at 100,000 MOI completely reduced 5 Log CFU/cm² E. coli O157:H7 bacterial load in beef and pork at 4 and 8h, respectively. In chicken meat, a 4.65 log reduction of E. coli O157:H7 was observed at 4 h by 100,000 MOI. The treatment of single bacteriophage BPECO19 was an effective method to control E. coli O157:H7 in meat samples.

A new and highly stereoselective synthesis of (E)-4'-amino-3,4,5-trimethoxystilbene was achieved by using 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzaldehyde and p-nitrotoluene as starting materials through condensation under solvent-free condition and followed by the reducing of nitro group with the system of $NH_2NH_2/FeCl_3$/C in ethanol. The crystal structure of (E)-4'-amino-3,4,5-trimethoxystilbene was also determined by X-ray diffraction analysis.

We carried out to study the function of ArgE in transgenic rice plants, which were confirmed by PCR analysis and hygromycin selection. Transgenic rice plants were with selectable marker gene(HPT) inserted in genome of the rice. Southern analysis with hpt probe confirmed by two restriction enzymes that copy numbers of the selectable gene was introduced into the plant genome. We displayed that the relationship between drought stress and ArgE gene with the overexpressing rice plants. From this result, we observed that the degree of leaves damage has no difference in control and transgenic lines. The total RNAs were extracted from 6 weeks-seedling in normal condition in order to examine their expression levels with ArgE-overexpressed transgenic rice. In particular, expression patterns of genes encoding enzymes involved in abiotic stress, including drought and salt stresses. OsGF14a and OsSalt were investigated by reverse transcription-PCR(RT-PCR). Expression levels of the OsSalt gene decreased significantly in transgenic rice plants compared to control plant. However, ion leakage measurement did not demonstrate any leaves damage change between control and ArgE transgenic plants exposure to mannitol treatment. These results suggest that expression of the ArgE is not involved in tolerance for drought stress in rice but may playa role of signaling networks for salt-induced genes.

Purpose - This case study illustrates the story of eBay Korea, which owns two most leading Korean open market companies, AUCTION and Gmarket. The main concerns are to take over the Korean top domestic companies one by one, then, emerge these two giants through its well-developed post-merger Integration by eBay, an American multinational corporation. Research design, data, and methodology - This case explores various secondary resources such as periodicals, annual reviews, magazine, news articles, commentaries, even some interview materials related to 'eBay Korea' and industry source on condition of anonymity based on the critical reviewing of existing studies on these topics as well. Results - The findings of this study show the merger and acquisition of two market leaders in Korea is the only successful case in Asian Markets. The eBay's choice of entry mode is appropriate considering the timing, synergy and efficiency by sharing their resources. Conclusions - This study examines the successful entry and settlement process of foreign, multinational company through mergers and acquisitions in the Korean market. This would be a valuable in the studies of International Business and Global entry or distribution strategy in the e-commerce and open market dealing with M&A and its post-merger integration.
