In this paper, we evaluate and compare the performance of speech/music discrimination based on various feature parameters and classifiers. As for feature parameters, we consider High Zero Crossing Rate Ratio (HZCRR), Low Short Time Energy Ratio (LSTER), Spectral Flux (SF), Line Spectral Pair (LSP) distance, entropy and dynamism. We also examine three classifiers: k Nearest Neighbor (k-NN), Gaussian Mixure Model (GMM), and Hidden Markov Model (HMM). According to our experiments, LSP distance and phoneme-recognizer-based feature set (entropy and dunamism) show good performance, while performance differences due to different classifiers are not significant. When all the six feature parameters are employed, average speech/music discrimination accuracy up to 96.6% is achieved.

The drastic structural changes in telecommunications industry are imposing new strains on operators, regulators and customers. Many researchers have offered diverse frameworks for the changes from the perspectives of sociology, technology, and/or economics. However, there have been few attempts to document the competitive phenomena from management perspectives because of the technological complexities and dynamism in the fundamental transition of competition. In this study, we examine competitive environment in telecommunications industry, and identified five structural elements; telecom operator, competitors, regulation, suppliers, and customer demand. The suggested framework is used to provide a basis for explaining the changes in the characteristics of individual elements and the interactions among them. The dynamic industry-specific changes will be explained through an evolutionary model. We specify the characteristics of progressive stages and the determinants of the evolution. Changes are reviewed in terms of five criteria; regulations and competitions, value chain, technology, customers demand, and internal operations. The result of this study will be useful in analyzing and predicting industry structure and major participants' strategic behaviors and decision patterns. This study can alse be extended to other industries facing dynamic structural changes.

This paper describes a fuzzy system designed to support production planning in an industrial unit producing cardboard boxes. In this industrial unit orders for n boxes of width w, length l, height h, made of q layers of type k paper for delivery in t units of time are produced. In the production of such orders apart from meeting the orders specifications it is usually tried to minimize the margin trim loss the number of machine setups and the holding cost of the finished orders. Considering the dynamism of production systems that are influenced by such factors as market demand fluctuations changes in commercial priorities raw material availability and pro-ducation capabilities we solve this multi-objective problem by fuzzy set theory.

Recent spectropolarimetric observations with high spatial resolution and high polarization sensitivity have provided us with new insight to better understand the quiet-Sun magnetism. This talk is concerned with the ubiquitous transient horizontal magnetic fields in the quiet-Sun, as revealed by the Solar Optical Telescope (SOT) on board Hinode satellite. Exploiting the SOT data with careful treatment of photon noise, we reveal the enigmatic properties of these horizontal magnetic fields such as lifetime, size, position in terms of granular structure, occurrence rate, three-dimensional structure, total magnetic flux, field strength distribution, relationship with the meso- and super-granulations and so on. Based on these observational consequences, we conjecture that the local dynamo process, which takes place in a relatively shallow layer with the granular size, produces these transient horizontal magnetic fields and that these horizontal magnetic fields contribute to the considerable amount of quiet-Sun magnetic fields. We also estimate the magnetic energy flux carried by these horizontal magnetic fields based on the statistical data, and find that the total magnetic energy is comparable to the total chromospheric and coronal energy loss, implying their important role for the chromospheric heating and dynamism.

Business environment for e-commerce companies have been rapidly changed for the last several yens and they have found out that strategic alliance as one of the important and practical means to cope with the dynamic environment. Despite the increasing number of e-commerce company's strategic alliances during last several years, there have been few studies made on strategic alliance which reflect the e-commerce company's uniqueness： dynamism, time to market, If-based business, etc. In order to reflect this uniqueness, we attempt to derive guidelines of alliance process for e-commerce companies in three aspects： 1) resource system analysis, 2) value chain analysis, and 3) If-based strategic alliance implementation and management. Finally, we propose the integrated process of strategic alliance for e-commerce companies including those proposed guidelines.

During the first twenty-six years of its existence from 1954 to 1980, Keimyung University established on its Daemyung Campus a unique community of Western period-style buildings which recalls an old liberal arts college in America. During the first fifteen years, Keimyung built basically in the neo-Georgian style in accordance with the visions of the first two presidents, both of American nationality. During the next eleven years when Keimyung considerably expanded its facilities, it built in the neo-Classical style. The architecture of the Daemyung Campus is not without dynamism as it shows some efforts to integrate the expressions of the historical and the modern, culminating in the Main Library. The Daemyung Campus thus presents an interesting case study of how Western period-style architecture was assimilated in a provincial Korean city with a sense of an on-going building tradition.

IT companies make a lot of efforts for sharing and utilizing of experiences of their members and transforming them into the organizational knowledge as a competitive core. But they face a dilemma that they have to spend time and financial resource to perform activities around knowledge management for the long-term gains, while carrying field-works for making short-term profits. As an initial attempt to tackle this managerial problem, this paper try to investigate the mechanism of knowledge management in a small IT company in Korea with a synthetic view-point using system dynamics simulation model. It depicts the dynamic behaviors of knowledge management and presents some findings of political leverage. Although it has to be replenished further, the scheme for the dynamism of knowledge management and the findings presented in the paper could be useful for the decision makers particularly of knowledge-intensive organizations

In the past three decades since the advent of market oriented reforms began in 1978, China has made rapid strides in catalyzing economic growth. The economic development coincides with the development of significant capabilities in several areas of science, technology, and innovation. China has recorded notable achievements in a number of emerging fields. This paper investigates the process that has catalyzed the developments in Science and Technology (S&T) and the key factors that have facilitated this process. The causality of dynamism of S&T in China points at targeted development, an emphasis on high growth industries and high technology, commensurate resource mobilization, ruthless restructuring of innovation actors, dynamic organization and management of R&D, continuously evolving policies with strict enforcement, and implementable instruments. This paper attempts to bring out the roadmap of the Chinese transformation process in S&T and derive policy lessons for India.

Strategic aim of Poland is an accession to The European Union. This accession means consolidation of democratic transformations and acceleration of economical development. Possibly full and quick execution of preparing works at building domain is one of conditions of Polish membership in the European Union. Poland has to adopt rules and standards, which are required at EU. It will permit to make polish companies more attactive at international market. We should know, that economical, legal whether political reforms, this is not all what consists on membership at the Union European. We must change internally, become open to the world, to represent dynamism, enterprise, knowledge and culture. We must become more tolerant and be able to communicate with people with different culture whether political orientation, we have to accept this dissimilarity and will find way of dialogue and cooperation.

The advent of Electronic Commerce is raising two hypothetical questions conflicting each other in economic point of view. The one is that cyberspace will eventually resolve the problem of economic disparity by presenting equal opportunities to local companies through the removal of barriers in terms of time and space. The other is that the problem of economic disparity will be amplified by the vicious cycle of reproduction on an enlarged scale residing in the new rules of digital economy. As an initial attempt to tackle the questions listed above, by introducing systems thinking and adopting the systems dynamics simulation technique this paper puts an effort to find some tentative answers to the questions possibly raised about the impact of electronic commerce on local economy on which little research has been conducted so far. The general scheme for the dynamism of systems where two groups of electronic malls compete each other and the findings presented in the paper would perhaps provide some ideas and directions for further study.
