  • Because of the limited land in Korea most of the projects require large-scale reclamation. The hydraulic-filled soil deposits are usually loose and susceptible to be liquified during earthquake. The dynamic deformation characteristics which expressed by shear modulus and damping ratio are important to analyze the earthquake ground motion. In this paper resonant column tests were performed on five hydraulic filled soil in Korea and the deformational characteristics at both small and medium strains were investigated. The coefficients in the Hardin equation to predict the representative maximum shear modulus and modulus reduction cure are also proposed.

  • With increasing demands on automatic and high-capability manufacturing, the dynamic performance of machine tools becomes more and more important. In this paper, the correlation between dynamic compliance of the cutting system and the commencing point of chatter vibration in turning is checked by impulse excitation method and cutting tests for some cutting system. The correlation between chucking conditions of workpiece and the commencing point of chatter vibration is clarified, and it is proven that there is a mutual relations between them. Chatter vibration commenced at certain level of dynamic compliance of the cutting system regardless of the kind of the system. It shows the possibility of dynamic performance test of a lathe by means of impulse excitation method.

  • Dynamic properties of hydraulic mechanically stabilized slag(HMS25) was studied for utilizing it as a roadbed material. HMS25 is a by product material during pig iron production process. It has a very good potential application as a roadbed material. Therefore, the resonant column and torsional shear tests were carried out to evaluate the dynamic properties of HMS25 which are necessary for designing roadbed of railroad track. As a result, it was found that HMS25 has excellent dynamic properties required for roadbed material used in railroad track.

  • Analysis program to estimate the dynamic characteristics of bridge is investigated by using three-dimensional analytical model considering vehicle-bridge interaction. A dynamic interaction models of the vehicle-bridge system are established, which is composed of a vehicle element model and a finite element bridge model. The vehicle models are established according to the structure and suspending properties of vehicle. The dynamic responses of the bridge are calculated. But the computer simulation program is being verified with field tests results, it must be corrected according to them.

  • A reciprocating compressor unit with variable rotating speed driven by BLDC motor is mounted Inside hermetic chamber on an internal suspension composed of 4 roil springs and a discharge pipe. A method for predicting the dynamic behavior of compressor body is required for a reduction of transmitted vibrations. The mechanical characteristics of spring and discharge pipe stiffness properties have been obtained from experimental tests and mass moment of inertia of the compressor body iron CAD. To confirm the vibration model for the compressor body, free vibration analyses are performed with theoretical and experimental methods. results for analytical investigations on the dynamic behavior of the compressor body and the transmitted forces to the hermetic chamber through the suspension elements are Presented.

  • The dynamic material characteristics on some mild steel sheets were observed. The dynamic tests were conducted on the ESH servo-hydraulic test machine. It was observed that the mechanical properties of mild steel are highly sensitive to the value of strain rate. The well known Cowper-Symonds constitutive equation was used to generalize the strain rate sensitivity effect. Modified constitutive equations were suggested to couple the strain hardening to the strain rate sensitivity. The dynamic stress-strain relationships for the mild steel sheets used in the present study were reasonably predicted using these modified constitutive equations.

  • High temperature deformation and softening behavior of SAF 2507 super duplex stainless steel (SDSS) has been investigated in connection with an FEM analysis of hot forging process. Flow curves at various strain rates and temperatures were determined first from compression tests, and the kinetics of dynamic recrystallization were also formulated through the analysis of load relaxation test results. Applying the dynamic materials and proposed by Prasad et al., it was possible to determine the characteristics of deformation behavior effectively at a given condition of deformation. Constitutive relations and recrystallization kinetics formulated from the test results were then implemented in a commercial FEM code. Flow stress compensation formulated upon the volume fraction of recrystallization and adiabatic heating was found to improve significantly the FEA solutions in predicting the forming load and the distribution of recrystallized volume fraction after forging.

  • In this paper, a proper support tuning method is established by identifying the dynamic characteristics of the machine, the floor. and the inertia force. Also, the limitation of a passive isolation is presented. To simplify the dynamic analysis and to establish a proper design method for supporting system, each of the machine and the floor is modeled as a single degree of freedom spring-mass-damper system under careful investigation of the dynamic characteristics of each system and appropriate assumptions. Then, the dynamic behavior of a 2DOF system and the effect of the mass and the damping are investigated. Also, the characteristics of motion profiles are investigated. In addition, a quasi-static analysis on the transmitted force through support is performed and related tests are performed.
