Recently, various efforts have been made to develop oil and gas in the Arctic Ocean. It is very important to consider the load caused by ice in designing floating structures in the area. The magnitude of the ice load and its impact on a structure should be considered. In this paper, we analyze ice parameters affecting the DP performance of FPSO with a DP-assisted mooring system. Several ice characteristics are selected, and the resulting ice load is calculated using GEM software. Numerous simulations are conducted while changing the values of the parameters, and DP capability plots are generated to visualize the effects of changing these parameters. It is shown that the ice drift speed and thickness are the major properties to be considered in DP system design. The limitations of the analysis and future work are discussed in the conclusion.

Epitaxial aluminum nitride films on 6H-SiC (0001) were fabricated using reactive RF magnetron sputtering and post-deposition rapid thermal annealing. The electrical properties of AIN films depending on film thickness and measurement temperature have been observed. Full width at half maximum of AIN (0002) was $0.1204^{\circ}$ (about 430 arcsec) X-ray rocking curve results. The equivalent oxide thickness (EOT) of AIN film was estimated as about 10 nm and the leakage current density was within the order of $10^{-8} 4/cm^2$. The dielectric constant of AIN film estimated from the accumulation region of C-V curve measured at $300^{\circ}C$ was 8.3. The dynamic dielectric constant was obtained as 5.1 from J vs. 1/T plots at the temperature ranging from R.T. to $300^{\circ}C$ From above, estimation temperature dependance of the electrical properties of Al/AIN/SiC MIS devices was affirmed and useful data compilation for the reliabilities of SiC MIS is expected.

This paper presents a design and simulation of bi-directional DC/DC boost converter for a fuel cell system. In this paper, we analyze the equivalent model of both a boost converter and a buck converter. Also we propose the controller of bi-directional DC-DC converter, which has buck mode of charging a capacitor and boost mode of discharging a capacitor. In order to design a controller, we draw bode plots of the control-to-output transfer function using specific parameters and incorporate 3pole-2zero compensator in a closed loop. As a result, it has increased PM(Phase Margin) for better dynamic performance. The proposed bi-directional DC-DC converter's 3pole-2zero compensation method has been verified with computer simulation and simulation results obtained demonstrates the validity of the proposed control scheme.
The present work is aimed at further discussing the effectiveness of dimensionless parameters recently proposed for the analysis of flow stability in heated channels with supercritical fluids. In this purpose, after presenting the main motivations for the introduction of these parameters in place of previously proposed ones, additional information on the theoretical bases and on the consequences of this development is provided. Stability maps, generated by an in-house program adapted from a previous application to boiling channels, are also shown for different combinations of the operating parameters. The maps are obtained as contour plots of an amplification parameter obtained from numerical discretization and subsequent linearization of governing equations; as such, they provide a quantitatively clear perspective of the effect of different boundary conditions on the stability of heated channels with supercritical fluids. In order to assess the validity of the assumptions at the basis of the in-house model, supporting calculations have been performed making use of the RELAP5/MOD3.3 computer code, detecting the values of the dimensionless parameters at the threshold for the occurrence of instability for a heated channel representative of SCWR proposed core configurations. The obtained results show reasonable agreement with the maps, supporting the applicability of the proposed scaling parameters for describing the dynamic behaviour of heated channels with supercritical fluids.
Two different diene monomers [dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) and 5-ethylidene-2-norbornene (ENB)] as self-healing agents for polymeric composites were microencapsuled by in situ polymerization of urea and formaldehyde. We obtained plots of the storage modulus (G') and tan $\delta$ as a function of cure time by using dynamic mechanical analysis to investigate the cure behavior of the unreacted self-healing agent mixture in the presence of a catalyst. Glass transition temperatures (T$\_$g/) and exothermic reactions of samples cured for 5 and 120 min in the presence of different amounts of the catalyst were analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry. Of the two dienes, ENB may have advantages as a self-healing agent because, when cured under same conditions as DCPD, it reacts much faster in the presence of a much lower amount of catalyst, has no melting point, and produces a resin that has a higher value of T$\_$g/. Microcapsules containing the healing agent were successfully formed from both of the diene monomers and were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis. Optical microscopy and a particle size analyzer were employed to observe the morphology and size distribution, respectively, of the microcapsules. The microcapsules exhibited similar thermal properties as well as particle shapes and sizes.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to suggest an improved version of Proof-of-Nonce (PoN) algorithm, which is a distributed consensus algorithm used for block chain system. Methods: First, we used response surface method for design of experiment that is to generate experimental points considering non-linear relationship among variables. Then, we employed overlapped contour plots for visualizing the impact of control variables to performance target. Results: First, we modified the consensus procedure of the existing PoN algorithm by diminishing the content of the exchanged message. Then, we verified the performance improvement of the new PoN algorithm by performing a numerical experiment and paired t-test. Finally, we established new regression models for consensus time and Transactions per second (TPS) and proposed a method for optimizing control variables for obtaining performance target. Conclusion: We could improve the performance of the previous version of PoN algorithm by modifying the content of the exchanged message during 4-steps of consensus procedure, which might be a stepping stone for designing an efficient and effective consensus algorithm for blockchain system with dynamic operation environment.

In this study, we developed a dynamic stand yield model to estimate the baseline carbon stock, which is essentially required for a forest carbon offset project based on forest management. For developing the yield model, the data was acquired from the databases of the $5^{th}$ National Forest Inventory. The model was validated by comparing its estimations with field measurements that were conducted from 4 study sites (14 plots with thinning treatments) located in Hong-chun, Hoeng-sung, Yang-yang Daechi and Yang-yang Jungja. The difference between the estimations and the field measurements was less than 5%. Using the dynamic stand yield model, we estimated the changes in stand yield volume and carbon stocks for each species according to the baseline scenarios. As the results, we found that baseline carbon stock was the highest at Quercus acutissima stand (83.01tC/ha), while the lowest at Pinus rigida stand (32.17tC/ha) and Pinus densiflora stand of central region (39.09tC/ha). Hence, a project provider could get more carbon emission credits from an improved forest management project when considering the project with Pinus rigida stand or Pinus densiflora stand (central region). The baseline carbon stock and the dynamic stand yield model developed from this study would be useful for designing carbon offset projects based on improved forest management.

Also we propose the controller of bi-directional DC-DC converter, which has buck mode of charging a capacitor and boost mode of discharging a capacitor. In order to design a controller, we draw bode plots of the control-to-output transfer function using specific parameters and incorporate proper compensator in a closed loop. As a result, it has increased PM(Phase Margin) for better dynamic performance. The proposed bi-directional DC-DC converter's 3pole-2zero compensation method has been verified with computer simulation and simulation results obtained demonstrates the validity of the proposed control scheme.
Quasi-classical trajectory (QCT) calculations of H+HLi reaction have been carried out on a new potential energy surface of the ground state reported by Prudente et al. [Chem. Phys. Lett. 2009, 474, 18]. The four polarization-dependent differential cross sections have been carried out in the center of mass (CM) frame at various collision energies. The reaction probability for the depletion channel has been studied over a wide collision energy range. It has been found that the collision energy decreases remarkably reaction probability, which shows the expected behavior of the title reaction belonging to an exothermic barrierless reaction. The results are in good agreement with previous RMP results. The P(${\theta}_r$), P(${\phi}_r$) and P(${\theta}_r,\;{\phi}_r$) distributions, the k-k'-j' correlation and the angular distribution of product rotational vectors are presented in the form of polar plots. The average rotational alignment factor <$P_2(j{\prime}{\cdot}k)$> as a function of collision energy is also calculated. The results indicate that the collision energy has a great influence on the polarization of the product rotational angular momentum vector j'.

A two-facet approach was used to investigate the parametric performance of functional high-speed DDR3 (Double Data Rate) DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) die placed in different types of BGA (Ball Grid Array) packages: wire-bonded BGA (FBGA, Fine Ball Grid Array), flip-chip (FCBGA) and lead-bonded $microBGA^{(R)}$. In the first section, packaged live DDR3 die were tested using automatic test equipment using high-resolution shmoo plots. It was found that the best timing and voltage margin was obtained using the lead-bonded microBGA, followed by the wire-bonded FBGA with the FCBGA exhibiting the worst performance of the three types tested. In particular the flip-chip packaged devices exhibited reduced operating voltage margin. In the second part of this work a test system was designed and constructed to mimic the electrical environment of the data bus in a PC's CPU-Memory subsystem that used a single DIMM (Dual In Line Memory Module) socket in point-to-point and point-to-two-point configurations. The emulation system was used to examine signal integrity for system-level operation at speeds in excess of 6 Gb/pin/sec in order to assess the frequency extensibility of the signal-carrying path of the microBGA considered for future high-speed DRAM packaging. The analyzed signal path was driven from either end of the data bus by a GaAs laser driver capable of operation beyond 10 GHz. Eye diagrams were measured using a high speed sampling oscilloscope with a pulse generator providing a pseudo-random bit sequence stimulus for the laser drivers. The memory controller was emulated using a circuit implemented on a BGA interposer employing the laser driver while the active DRAM was modeled using the same type of laser driver mounted to the DIMM module. A custom silicon loading die was designed and fabricated and placed into the microBGA packages that were attached to an instrumented DIMM module. It was found that 6.6 Gb/sec/pin operation appears feasible in both point to point and point to two point configurations when the input capacitance is limited to 2pF.
