  • COMS (Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite) shall be operated with two remote sensing payloads, MI (Meteorological Imager) and GOCI (Geostationary Ocean Color Imager). Since both payloads have rotating mechanisms, the dynamic coupling between two payloads is very important considering the pointing stability during GOCI operation. In addition, COMS adopts a single solar wing to improve the image quality, which leads to the unbalanced solar pressure torque in COMS. As a result, the off-loading of the wheel momentum needs to be performed regularly (2 times per day). Since the frequent off-loading could affect MI/GOCI imaging performance, another suboptimal off-loading time needs to be considered to meet the AOCS design requirements of COMS while having margin enough in the number of thruster actuations. In this paper, preliminary analysis results on the pointing stability and the wheel off-loading time selection with respect to MI/GOCI operations are presented.

  • The valve performance has been evaluated from the theoretical equation based on design information such as packing thrust, spring preload and friction coefficient(${\mu}$). The accuracy of those data can be lower than that of vendor's initial design data. Especially, the friction coefficient can be degraded with time than the original condition and the valve performance calculated using the previous friction coefficient can not be available. Accordingly, this paper is describing a new performance evaluation method of valve based on diagnostic test data which are acquired from a site valve tested in static and dynamic conditions. Especially, this paper provides a new method using friction coefficient(${\mu}$) which is derived from the diagnostic test data acquired in the valve's design basis condition.

  • This paper describes a design concept of NPC1 power stack for 1500VDC megawatt level solar inverter. This stack uses three latest half-bridge IGBT modules with highest power density and operation junction temperature, which enable realization of power level beyond 1MW without paralleling. Critical design concept on loop inductance is explained. Dynamic characteristics are verified by double-pulse test. Thermal characteristics and output power limits are verified by thermal test. Temperature-sensitive component on PCB as output power constraint is identified. Different PCB repositioning solutions are tested to give the overall output power thermal derating curves, which enable output power of 1.15MW at $T_A=55^{\circ}C$ with $15^{\circ}C$ thermal margin. The power stack characteristic and performance change under different thermal environment is further analyzed.

  • This paper proposes a boost-input self-driven active clamp ZVS converter eliminating the extra dirve circuit for the active clamp switch. The converter used the auxiliary winding of the transformer to drive the active clamp switch and to achieve asymmetrical duty control. This paper presents the operation principle and the analyzed results of dynamic characteristics including steady state characteristics of the converter proposed. The experimental results were used to verify the theoretical predictions. A 300W (15V/20A) prototype converter that only exhibited 2-turn winding number in the auxiliary winding was sufficient to drive the active clamp switch on the input voltage of 80V. Finally, the maximum efficiency of 91.2% was achieved for the prototype converter and the proposed converter had stable closed loop characteristic with phase margin $55^{\circ}$.

  • This paper was carried out to prove the relation between static loads acting on the sluice(hydrostatic) and dynamic loads (additional loads) arising from opening or closing of sluice, through measuring the operation of shell-type roller gate by using the method of measuring of the completely opening water gate, as measured from one excitation state, it was confirmed to be capable of measuring the natural frequency reliable measurement results. Throughout the test, we prove that it's a reasonable way to estimate the default margin of safety when calculated by dividing the sum of the hydrostatic stress to the maximum stress and additional stress. The application of this paper's safety estimation method can be utilized as the basic data for the systematic and rational maintenance management of dams and submerged weirs in the future, and it is expected that this study can bring forth.

  • Single-sustainer driving is an AC PDP driving scheme to reduce the circuitry by maintaining the sustain electrode at ground level. To date, however, the research on the discharge characteristics in such driving scheme is insufficient. In this study, the panel performance and discharge characteristics of the single-sustainer driving scheme were observed while varying the address electrode condition. In single-sustainer driving, the address electrode is strongly involved in the sustain discharge when the former is maintained at ground level, and the dependence of the luminous efficacy on the sustain voltage is different from that in the conventional driving scheme. The dependence of the luminous efficacy on the sustain voltage appeared similar, however, to that in the conventional driving scheme when the address electrode was floated in single-sustainer driving. In the investigation of the temporal evolution of the sustain discharge using an IICCD camera, it was found that the sustain discharge in single-sustainer driving with a floating address electrode is similar to that in the conventional driving scheme, and the strong plasma formation region was located in the vicinity of the MgO surface, which seems to be related to the lifetime of a PDP with single-sustainer driving. In the investigation of the operation characteristics, the PDP that was operated with a floated address electrode showed a narrower dynamic operation margin, but a longer lifetime was expected.

  • In this work, vibration characteristics of high speed rotary bell cup for paint atomizer are numerically investigated. New type of bell cup model is proposed and additional corresponding models with design parameter variations for length and diameter are constructed. Dynamic characteristics, such as natural frequencies and corresponding mode shapes, are studied for each model as a first step. To investigate operation stability, critical speed of rotary bell cup is numerically analyzed based on Campbell diagram and separation margin between operating speed and critical speed is identified. Unbalance vibration responses are also investigated with respect to design parameter variation, operating speed and balancing quality grade of G. Then the proper design guideline for stable operation of high speed rotary bell cup for paint atomizer is suggested.

  • The controllability and stability of power systems can be increased by Flexible AC Transmission Devices (FACTs). One of the FACTs devices is Interline Power-Flow Controller (IPFC) by which the voltage stability, dynamic stability and transient stability of power systems can be improved. In the present paper, the convenient operation and control of IPFC for transient stability improvement are considered. Considering that the system's Lyapunov energy function is a relevant tool to study the stability affair. IPFC energy function optimization has been used in order to access the maximum of transient stability margin. In order to control IPFC, a Brain Emotional Learning Based Intelligent Controller (BELBIC) and PI controller have been used. The utilization of the new controller is based on the emotion-processing mechanism in the brain and is essentially an action selection, which is based on sensory inputs and emotional cues. This intelligent control is based on the limbic system of the mammalian brain. Simulation confirms the ability of BELBIC controller compared with conventional PI controller. The designing results have been studied by the simulation of a single-machine system with infinite bus (SMIB) and another standard 9-buses system (Anderson and Fouad, 1977).

  • In this paper, a BCD process based high-reliability 24-bit dual-port eFuse OTP Memory for PMICs is designed. We propose a comparison circuit at program-verify-read mode to test that the program datum is correct by using a dynamic pseudo NMOS logic circuit. The comparison result of the program datum with its read datum is outputted to PFb (pass fail bar) pin. Thus, the normal operation of the designed OTP memory can be verified easily by checking the PFb pin. Also we propose a sensing margin test circuit with a variable pull-up load out of consideration for resistance variations of programmed eFuse at program-verify-read mode. We design a 24-bit eFuse OTP memory which uses Magnachip's $0.35{\mu}m$ BCD process, and the layout size is $289.9{\mu}m{\times}163.65{\mu}m$ ($=0.0475mm^2$).

  • Recently, NAND Flash memory structure is evolving from SDR (Single Data Rate) to high speed DDR(Double Data Rate) to fulfill the high performance requirement of SSD and SSS. Accordingly, the proper ways of transferring data that latches valid data stably and minimizing data skew between pins by using PHY(Physical layer) circuit techniques have became new issues. Also, rapid growth of speed in NAND flash increases the operating frequency and power consumption of NAND flash controller. Internal voltage variation margin of NAND flash controller will be narrowed through the smaller geometry and lower internal operating voltage below 1.5V. Therefore, the increase of power budge deviation limits the normal operation range of internal circuit. Affection of OCV(On Chip Variation) deteriorates the voltage variation problem and thus causes internal logic errors. In this case, it is too hard to debug, because it is not functional faults. In this paper, we propose new architecture that maintains the valid timing window in cost effective way under sudden power fluctuation cases. Simulation results show that the proposed technique minimizes the data skew by 379% with reduced area by 20% compared to using PHY circuits.
