Field Application of the Flowing Concrete Method Considering Value Engineering(V.E) Concept (VE기법으로 유동화 공법 도입에 대한 현장 적용성 연구)

  • This study investigates field application of flowing concrete in order to improve workability, duality and economic evaluation of concrete. Test results showed that slump of fresh concrete satisfied the target value before and after flowing concrete, and setting time indicated 3 hours difference depending on the mixture proportion of ready-mixed-concrete company. As for the hardened concrete, compressive strength of standard curing specimens, both control and flowing concrete, presented designed value at 28 days elapse. However, the specimens curing at atmosphere decreased the value, due to the lower curing temperature, but also performed the designed value at 91 days. For the evaluation of construction fee by value engineering(V.E) concept, a flowing method declined 4.89% of concrete construction fee, which is 4.9% reduction for materials and 25% reduction for labor expenses, compared with previous construction methods.

  • In this paper, we present a 3D thermo-hydro-mechanical coupled discrete beam lattice model of structure built of the nonisothermal saturated poro-plastic medium subjected to mechanical loads and nonstationary heat transfer conditions. The proposed model is based on Voronoi cell representation of the domain with cohesive links represented as inelastic Timoshenko beam finite elements enhanced with additional kinematics in terms of embedded strong discontinuities in axial and both transverse directions. The enhanced Timoshenko beam finite element is capable of modeling crack formation in mode I, mode II and mode III. Mode I relates to crack opening, mode II relates to in-plane crack sliding, and mode III relates to the out-of-plane shear sliding. The pore fluid flow and heat flow in the proposed model are governed by Darcy's law and Fourier's law for heat conduction, respectively. The pore pressure field and temperature field are approximated with linear tetrahedral finite elements. By exploiting nodal point quadrature rule for numerical integration on tetrahedral finite elements and duality property between Voronoi diagram and Delaunay tetrahedralization, the numerical implementation of the coupling results with additional pore pressure and temperature degrees of freedom placed at each node of a Timoshenko beam finite element. The results of several numerical simulations are presented and discussed.

Network Coding for Bidirectional Traffic in IEEE 802.16 Systems (IEEE 802.16 시스템에서 양방향 트래픽을 위한 네트워크 코딩 기법)

  • In this paper, we investigate how the IEEE 802.16 based wireless system can adopt the network coding. To avoid the problem of overhearing, we focus on the bidirectional traffic, where each end node exchanges network coded data over a relay node. The bidirectional traffic is usually observed in Internet, where TCP makes congestion control and error recovery based on the acknowledgement from the opposite direction. Thus, enhancing the spectral efficiency of wireless Internet through the network coding is expected. Our simulation with realistic radio characteristics and TCP-like traffic shows that the network coding improves the throughput by an average of 36 percent compared to the simple relay case.

  • Smart devices have the characteristics of duality of fire and the property of double-sided swords. They also both conveniency and the weakness at a time due to the structure of the devices. Although there have not been a big threat with the smart devices, but they have potential enough to destroy the network society. This is because of the fact that the devices mainly depend on the applications and the applications can abuse the devices' critical hardware sections such as camera, file system, etc.. In this contribution, we analyze the issues and the problems of the weakness of smart devices and discuss a method to solve the issues.

  • Distributed systems present new system architecture for solving interoperability problem in heterogeneous system. This paper presents CORBA Inter-ORB protocol model based on shared memory to support communication software through analysis of existing CORBA IIOP protocol performance and Inter-Process Communication techniques. In the same host environment, proposed model applied standard CORBA mechanism to minimize message transfer overhead can develop software independently to hardware architecture of target communication system. This communication software that has flexibility and extensibility can improve productivity, duality and reusability of software.

  • This paper was to measure the structure, piezoelectric properties of 0.05Pb($A1_{0.5}$$Nb_{0.5}$)-0.95Pb($Zr_{0.52}$$Ti_{0.48}$)$O_3$ ceramics dopped with additive after creating the specimens with a general method. It is shown that X-ray diffraction pattern variation of lines (200) have tendency to move in simple peak by addition of additive. According to the increase of $Cr_2$$O_3$, tetragonality hardly have variation, according to the increase of $Fe_2$$O_3$, tetragonality decreased on the whole. According to dopping with $Cr_2$$O_3$ and $Fe_2$$O_3$, electromechanical factor(kp) largely increased, in case of sintering at $1200^{\circ}C$ kp was maximum value of 40.04[%] at $Cr_2$$O_3$ 0.3wt%, and maximum value of kp 42.9 [%] at $Fe_2$$O_3$, 0.9wt%. In case of sintering at 120$0^{\circ}C$, mechanical duality factor(Qm) was maximum value of Qm 268.8 at $Cr_2$$O_3$, 0.9 wt%.

  • The new approach to buffer layer design for CIGS solar cells that permitted to reduce the buffer absorption losses in the short wavelength range and to overcome the disadvantages inherent to Cd-free CIGS solar cells was proposed. A chemical bath deposition method has been used to produce a high duality buffer layer that comprises thin film of CdS and Zn-based film. The double layer was grown on either ITO or CIGS substrates and its morphological, structural and optical properties were characterized. The Zn-based film was described as the ternary compound $ZnS_x(OH)_y$. The composition of the $ZnS_x(OH)_y$ layer was not uniform throughout its thickness. $ZnS_x(OH)_y$/CdS/substrate region was a highly intermixed region with gradually changing composition. The short wavelength cut-off of double layer was shifted to shorter wavelength (400nm) compared to that (520 nm) for the standard CdS by optimization of the double buffer design. The results show the way to improve the light energy collection efficiency of the nearly cadmium-free CIGS-based solar cells.

  • The quality of various noises generated in the refrigerator is one of the important factors in deciding quality of the product. The main focus of sound control design has been shifted from reduction of sound level to improvement of sound duality for customer's preference. Up to date the purpose of noise control is the minimization of noise level. However despite of gradual decrease of noise level, occasionally the perceptional quality of noise has not been improved. In this paper, the relation between subjective and objective evaluation of sound quality has established and sound quality index is developed using ANN for evaluation of refrigerator's noise of both the starting noise and the stable running noise of compressor. To verify the usefulness of the index, the results in this paper have been compared with those surveyed by Consumer Union in USA.

  • A resource allocation algorithm is proposed in this paper to simultaneously minimize the total system power consumption and maximize the system throughput for the downlink of multi-user multiple input multiple output-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) systems. With the Lagrange dual decomposition method, we transform the original problem to its convex dual problem and prove that the duality gap between the two problems is zero, which means the optimal solution of the original problem can be obtained by solving its dual problem. Then, we use convex optimization method to solve the dual problem and utilize bisection method to obtain the optimal dual variable. The numerical results show that the proposed algorithm is superior to traditional single-objective optimization method in both the system throughput and the system energy consumption.

  • Ubiquitous services are high duality and differentiated services which are provided for users by recognizing the context of users and environmental conditions actively. In this case, context-aware middleware is one of the most important technologies required to implement the ubiquitous services. In this paper, we proposed a method for providing ubiquitous services in a specific user space effectively. That is, the design and implementation of intelligent home service middleware based on context awareness is discussed here. Context information from various sensors is gathered, and suitable services are inferred and provided to users by the middleware system.
