The present study aimed at investigating the effects of dry- and wet-aging methods on flavor compounds and sensory properties of low fat Hanwoo beef muscles. All the beef samples were obtained from 2-grade carcasses of Hanwoo cows. The beef samples used in the dry- and wet-aging methods were prepared in the forms of quarter beef (bone-in) and cuts (boneless), respectively. The dry-aging was carried out at $2^{\circ}C-4^{\circ}C$ and humidity of 65%-85%, while the wet-aging was done at $1^{\circ}C$ for 0, 20, 40, and 60 d. At each aging time, three muscles: longissmus thoracis (LT), glutaeusmedus (GM) and semimembranosus (SM) were taken from the corresponding quarters and cuts, and used for the flavor compounds and sensory analyses. Results showed that both aging methods significantly increased the concentrations of flavor compounds and total amount of all classes of the flavor compounds as the aging time increased (p<0.05). In the dry-aging method, the GM and SM muscles presented significantly higher total amounts of pyrazines and sulfur-containing compounds compared to the LT muscle (p<0.05). Both the aging methods improved the eating quality attributes, indicating by increased scores of sensorial attributes with increased aging time for all the muscles studied (p<0.05). However, compared to the wet-aging, the dry-aging method resulted in significantly higher scores of tenderness and flavor for the GM and SM muscles after 40 to 60 d. Thus, postmortem aging, especially the dry-aging method could be used to improve eating quality attributes (tenderness and flavor) of low fat beef muscles such as GM and SM.

This paper describes the development of a low-power electrocardiogram (ECG) touch sensor intended for the use with two dry metal electrodes. An equivalent ECG extraction circuit model encountered in a ground-free two-electrode configuration is investigated for an optimal sensor read-out circuit design criteria. From the equivalent circuit model, (1) maximum sensor resolution is derived based on the electrode's background thermal noise, which originates from high electrode-skin contact impedance, together with the input referred noise of instrumentation amplifier (IA), (2) 60 Hz electrostatic coupling from mains and motion artifact are also considered to determine minimum requirement of common mode rejection ratio (CMRR) and input impedance of IA. A dedicated ECG read-out front end incorporating chopping scheme is introduced to provide an input referred circuit noise of 1.3 ${\mu}V_{rms}$ over 0.5 Hz ~ 200 Hz, CMRR of IA > 100 dB, sensor resolution of 7 bits, and dissipating only 36 ${\mu}W$. Together with 8 bits synchronous successive approximation register (SAR) ADC, the sensor IC chip is implemented in 0.18 ${\mu}m$ CMOS technology and integrated on a 5 cm $\times$ 8 cm PCB with two copper patterned electrodes. With the help of proposed touch sensor, ECG signal containing QRS complex and P, T waves are successfully extracted by simply touching the electrodes with two thumbs.

This study examined the relationship between Phragmites australis' growth and sediment properties at mud tidal flat of Donggum-ri, Gilsang-myeon, Gangwha-gun, Incheon city. Field survey was carried out from May, 2010 to October, 2010. Water content, soil texture, electric conductivity and water table depth for sediment, density, height, dry weight and flowering for P. australis were examined at several plots from the starting point (the coastal embankment) to the end point of the two populations. The result was as follows. Firstly, the water table increased along distance from the embankment at one line (N-line) but was similar at the other line (S-line) in a P. asustralis population. Water tables were higher out of than within a P. australis population at two populations. Secondary, in N-line, the height and dry weight of P. australis decreased along the distance from embankment but, in S-line, those were similar in its population. P. australis' growth was dependent on electric conductivity at lower layer (water table level) rather than upper one (the surface). Thirdly, density of P. australis changed during growing season and was similar in a population, except for the end point of patch. In summary, the growth and distribution of P. australis were dependent on salt content of tidal flat's sediment (water table level) and this was affected by fresh water of the inland.
This research has so far found out problems including the second damage of extinguishant and the short time of emission when using the existing dry chemical extinguisher and gas type extinguisher, and impossibility of constant extinguishing due to the inability of recharge at the field. To solve such problems, a mobile water mist system was developed and used. However, it is judged that more improved mobile water mist system is necessary because the force of the fire changed diversely and remote villages in mountains or islands where the force of fire extinguishing is short or delayed, require high capacity of fire extinguishing. Therefore a new equipment was developed and tested focusing on the improvement of extinguishing capacity and the performance of extinguishing was found out to be improved, compared to the existing mobile water mist system. It also showed a superior extinguishing capacity to dry chemical extinguisher or gas type extinguisher. Afterward an additional research is required of simplification of equipment, price cutting and the development of additive to enable high performance even with just small extinguishant.
Peonjahwan, an oriental traditional medicine composed of crude herbal drugs and animal tissues is bitter and poorly water-soluble. To mask the bitterness of peonjahwan and enhance the release of bilirubin, one of the crude active ingredients of peonjahwan, peonja dry elixir (PDE), was prepared using a spray-dryer after extracting the crude materials in ethanol-water solution. coated peonja dry elixir (CPDE) was then prepared by coating the PDE with Eudragit acrylic resin. Panel assessed bitterness and release test of bilirubin from PDE and CPDE were carried out and compared with peonjahwan alone. PDE was found to have little effect upon the reduction of the bitterness of peonjahwan. However, the bitterness of CPDE was found to reduce to 1/4 of that of peonjahwan due to the encapsulation of crude active ingredients by the dextrin and Eudragit shell (P<0.05). The release rate of bilirubin from PDE and CPDE for 60 min increased about 3.5- and 2.5-fold, respectively, compared to peonjahwan at pH 1.2. It is concluded that CPDE, which masked the bitterness of peonjahwan and enhanced the release of bilirubin, is a preferable delivery system for peonjahwan.
One of the practical limitations with the use of liposomes for delivery of the pharmaceutical substances such antigens is that liposomes are relatively unstable in storage. In order to extend the stability of liposome in storage without affecting their functional activity, solution-type liposomes were dehydrated to form a structurally intact dry liposomes. Comparative immunological evaluation was carried out for both dry and solution-type liposomes containing gag-V3 chimera, consequently it was found that dry liposomes elicited both humoral and cellular response as efficiently as solution-type liposemes did against the same gag-V3 antigen. Especially, long-term stability of the liposomes was remarkably enhanced by the dehydration made to loposomes without a significant change in its ability to elicit immune response in vivo. These results indicate that dry pH-sensitive liposome may become an effective delivery and adjuvant system for general vaccine development.

This experiment was carried out to study the biological yields(BY) of varieties by the developmental growth stages and shoot weight(SHW), leaf area(LA), root dry weight(RW), number of tillers(NT), shoot and root ratio(S/R), weight of a tiller(WT) as factors of yield components with 5 varieties of perennial ryegrass. The results are summarized as follows; 1. The biological yields in summer were about 115 of spring yield. 2. The biological yields of Manhattan were the highest until1 third developmental growth stage among perennial ryegrasses, and those for Maprima and P-2 varieties were the highest in the following stages. In terms of shoot dry weight, the similarly tendency appeared in the fifth developmental growth stage. 3. The shoot dry weight increased highly with the root dry weight. 4. The Tempo variety of biological yield was generally low but the weight of a tiller was the highest. 5. The highest increasing stage of biological yields was between fifth and sixth developmental growth stage, but the lowest increasing stage of biological yields was between first and second developmental growth stage, respectively. The dominant factors of biological yields were influenced to shoot and root dry weight.
This study was to examine the anti-bacteria effect and the changes of chemical properties of chrome-tanned garment leathers on the preservative treatment. Various test methods, such as investigation of preservative treatment process, resistance test and chemical analysis by cleaning, antbbacterial test by shake flask method are carried out in this study. The results can be obtained as follows: 1. Bacterial reduction percentage of chrome-tanned garment leathers on the preservative treatment was 28.6%. 2. In the antbbacterial effect by dry cleaning, preservative treated leathers has no resistance. 3. Fats content has been removed by dry cleaning using perchloroethylene, so garment leathers properties were altered. 4. PH value was changed by dry cleaning. But once after fats removing, it was changed the little by dry cleaning numbers.

Dry film method was applied to fabricate lead-free transparent dielectric fur PDP(Plasma Display Panel). From various slurry compositions, it was able to find out the. best composition for producing high density green sheet. The slurry exhibited shear thinning characteristics which are known to be suitable fur producing a high quality green sheet. The thermal expansion coefficient of the fabricated transparent dielectric was measured to be $97{\times}10^{-7}/^{\circ}C$ which is close to the value of the glass substrate(PD-200). Cross sectional SEM of the transparent dielectric layer on PD-200 showed that the two layers were well attached each other with no observable gaps between them.
This study was carried out to survey the pollution of nonylphenol (NP) in surface sediments around Gwangyang bay and Yeosu sound. NP was suspected chemicals as endocrine disruption. Gwangyang bay is located on the mid south coast of Korea. It is a semi-closed bay which Yeosu petrochemical industrial complex, POSCO (Pohang Steel Company) and Gwangyang container harbor are there. The surface sediments were collected at 15 stations with gravity corer at October, 1999, February, May and August, 2000. Also, the stream and intertidal sediment were collected at 5 sites at August, 2000. Concentrations of NP in surface sediments were in the range of 6.89 to 202.70 ng/g dry wt.. Seasonal range (mean value) of NP is 13.98 to 30.48 (23.46) ng/g dry wt. at October, 10.35 to 54.91 (28.10) ng/g dry wt. at February, 29.05 to 202.70 (82.32) ng/g dry wt. at May and 6.98 to 83.40 (25.37) ng/g dry wt. at August. NP was seasonally fluctuated, and the highest mean value and range was detected at May, 2000. NP was highly distributed in the inner part of Gwangyang bay than Yeosu sound. Concentrations of NP in stream and intertidal sediments showed the highest value in downstream near Yeosu petrochemical industrial complex and Yondung stream. It suggests that the source of NP is industrial wastewater and municipal sewage.
