This paper presents an innovative prototype of a new conceptual electromagnetic induction-based fluid beating appliance using voltage-fed type scries capacitor-compensated load resonant high-frequency IGBT inverter with a phase-shifted PWM and a power factor correction schemes. Its operating characteristics in steady-state are illustrated including unique features and evaluated on the basis of its computer simulation and experimental results of 10kw breadboard appliance for hot water producer and superheated steamer. The promising cost effective inverter-fed boiler appliances for electromagnetic induction-heated type fluid-heating in the pipeline systems are proposed for induction-heated boiler, super heat steamer, high temperature water producer, hot gas producer and metal catalyst heating for exhaust gas cleaning in engine, which are more suitable and acceptable for industrial, chemical, and consumer energy utilization for household and business from a practical point of view.

For evaluating the printing suitability of electronic copying papers in the aspect of climate conditions, 12 samples of copying papers being generally used in Korea and worldwide were collected. The copying papers were controlled by various temperature and humidity options in conditioning equipment in order to simulate the specific circumstances of dry, temperate or tropical climate, and the pre-heating system of photocopying machines during printing. As results, some copying papers showed several physical problems, especially in recycled copying papers and a normal paper with original printing faulty. These problems of copying papers were mostly resulted in extremely high moisture circumstance, and in lower levels of tensile strength and tensile stiffness. The moisture contents of copying papers during passing through the pre-heater system of photocopying machine could be rapidly decreased because paper is exposed to high temperature around the pre-heating zone. The copying paper, for example of XR3 sample, containing low moisture contents below 2% had high exfoliating possibility of toner transfer from copying paper.
In case of wood flooring, the high emissivity would be one of the most important properties especially as the cover material of underfloor heating system. The FIR (Far Infrared) materials such as wood emit FIR energy by heating, which has been used as the medical therapy such as dry sauna. This research investigated the emissivity and the emission power of wood composites by comparing the amount of the three heat transfer modes transferred by infrared radiation which came from the increased temperature of the bottom board of the plywood box by the heater. The results showed the value of radiation mode was the highest mode for the plywood box, and the convection mode was the main mode for the aluminum box. The rate of convection was 81.8% in the aluminum box and 48.2% in the plywood box, respectively. In case of the rate of radiation, the aluminum box showed only 15.4% and the plywood box showed 51%. The emissivity and the emission power of birch plywood showed the same values as those of wood. The amount of energy required for the temperature rising of water within vial in the aluminum box and in the plywood box were 3.32 kJ and 6.70 kJ respectively, which showed that the vial temperature of the plywood box was two times higher than that of the aluminum box.
Physical and chemical properties of glycosylsucrose were characterized as follows: 1. The moisture content of glycosylsucrose syrup (35% , w/w) was 63.6% and total sugar in solid was 35.9%. 2. Main sugar compositions of glycosylsucrose syrup were maltotetraose 54.5%, sucrose 18.0%, glycosylsucrose 15.3%, maltosylsucrose 11.3% and the content of glucose, maltose, maltotriose and fructose were very little. 3. Perceived sweetness threshold of glycosylsucrose was 0.71%, relative sweetness was 0.53, and sweetness intensity expressed as power function was S=$0.78^{\circ}$C^{1.5}$$. 4. Viscosity of glycosylsucrose was higher than that of sucrose and Japanese product at 10, 25, 35 and $65^{\circ}C$. 5. The content of water absorption of gylcosylsucrose at Aw 0.80 was 0.48 g $H_2$O/g dry weight while that of sucrose was 0.17g $H_2$O/g dryweight at Aw 0.86. 6. The stability of glycosylsucrose was decreased by acidic pH, high temperature and long heating time. 7. The glycosylsucrose showed very little browning when heated with pepton, but alkaline pH (pH8), high temperature and long heating time increased browning reaction.

A thermochemical equilibrium model was constructed for predicting composition of synthesis gas in biomass gasification. The model included estimation of equilibrium constants using Gibbs free energy. After constructing the model, the results were compared with the experimental values and predictions from a previous model. Gas compositions were reasonably well agreed with them and showed effects of operational and fuel condition. When the reaction temperature increased, the lower heating values decreased due to the decrease in CH4 concentrations. The methane concentrations were lower than those observed in experimental results. The model was used to predict the gas composition and heating values for the cases of mixed fuel of charcoal and un-dry woodchips. Although downdraft gasifiers require fuels less than 15% of moisture contents, the model results indicated that the mixed fuel with charcoal and woodchips which had over 25% of moisture contents could be used in the downdraft gasifiers. It might be explained by increase in energy density resulting from mixing charcoal. The results imply that the efforts and costs for drying biomass fuels could be reduced by mixing charcoal or fuels with higher calorific values.
Whole faba beans (WFB) were dry roasted at different temperatures of 110, 130 and $150^{\circ}C$ for 15, 30 and 45 minutes (min) to determine the optimal heating conditions to increase bypass starch as glucose source which may be a limiting nutrient in high producing dairy cattle. Ruminant degradation characteristics of starch (St) of WFB were determined using in sacco method in 6 dairy cows fed 60% hay and 40% concentrate. Measured characteristics of St were soluble (washable) fraction (S), potentially degradation fraction (D) and the rate of degradation (Kd) of the insoluble but degradable St fraction. Based on measurement of these characteristics, percentage bypass starch (%BSt) and bypass starch (BSt) were calculated. Degradability of starch in the rumen was reduced by dry roasting at temperature of 130 and $150^{\circ}C$ and increased at $110^{\circ}C$. S varied from 50.0% in the raw whole faba beans (RWFB) and 53.7% in $110^{\circ}C$/15 min to 18.2% in $150^{\circ}C$/45 min. D varied from 49.9% in RWFB and 46.3% in $110^{\circ}C$/15 min to 81.8 % in $150^{\circ}C$/45 min. Kd varied from 9.8% in RWFB and 11.0% in the $110^{\circ}C$/30 min to 4.2 in $150^{\circ}C$/45 min. All these effects resulted in increasing %BSt from 22.1% in the $110^{\circ}C$/45 min and 23.9% in RWFB to 49.9% in the $150^{\circ}C$/45 min. Therefore BSt increased from 91.4 g/kg and 98.4 g/kg to 199.9 g/kg respectively. Dry roasting at $110^{\circ}C$ increased the starch rumen degradation. Treatment at higher temperature (130 and $150^{\circ}C$) decreased rumen degradation of starch and seemed to be linear up to highest values tested. No optimal dry roasting conditions of treatment could be determined at this stage. It may be concluded that dry roasting at temperatures of 130 and $150^{\circ}C$ was effective in shifting starch degradation from rumen to intestine to increase bypass starch.

Measured characteristics of crude protein (CP) were soluble (washable) fraction (S), undegradable fraction (U), lag time (T0), potentially degradable fraction (D) and the rate of degradation (Kd) of insoluble but degradable fraction. Based on measured characteristics, percentage bypass crude protein (%BCP) and bypass crude protein (BCP in g/kg) were calculated. Degradability of CP was reduced by dry roasting (p < 0.01). S was reduced rapidly with increasing time and temperature, from 49.0% in the raw WFB (RWFB) to 26.3% in $150^{\circ}C/45$ min. D varied from 50.7% in RWFB to 73.7% in $150^{\circ}C/45^{\prime}$. U varied from 0% in $130^{\circ}C/45^{\prime}$, $150^{\circ}/30^{\prime}$ and $150^{\circ}/45^{\prime}$ to 0.66% in $110^{\circ}/45^{\prime}$ (0.24% for the RWFB). Lag time (T0) varied from 1.58 h in $130^{\circ}C/30^{\prime}$ to 2.40 h in $150^{\circ}C/45^{\prime}$ (1.87 h for RWFB). Kd varied from 24.2% in the $110^{\circ}C/30^{\prime}$ to 4.3% in $150^{\circ}C/45^{\prime}$ (21.4% for the RWFB). Kd was significantly reduced with time and temperature. All these effects resulted in increasing % BCP from 8.9% in the $110^{\circ}C/45^{\prime}$, 11.3% in the RWFB to 43.1% in the $150^{\circ}C/45$. Therefore BCP increased from 31.3 and 39.9 to 148.4 g/kg respectively. Both %BCP and BCP at $150^{\circ}C/45$ increased nearly 4 times over the raw faba beans. The effects of dry roasting temperature and time on %BCP and BCP seemed to be linear up to the highest values tested. Therefore no optimal dry roasting conditions of time and temperature could be determined at this stage. It was concluded that dry roasting was effective in shifting crude protein degradation from rumen to intestine to reduce unnecessary nitrogen (N) loss in the rumen. To determine the optimal treatment, the digestibility of each treatment should be measured in the next trial using mobile bags technique.
Each ethnic group has a different cultural background and has developed its own culture in the name of a tradition. The interaction between different cultures is ever increasing through the process of acculturation or culture contact The purpose of this study is to provide baseline information about domestic living of Korean immigrants in Australia and Australians for a larger cross-cultural study project. As the first step, the usage of domestic space and seating styles of 52 Korean households in Melbourne were analyzed. Ethnographic research was conducted, utilizing a questionnaire. The findings of this research are as follows: 1. The most popular type of Living-Dining-Kitchen arrangement was the one which the kitchen is separated from the living and dining area. The level of satisfaction was the highest when the living room, dining room, and kitchen were all separated. 2. A laundry room was indispensable for Koreans in Australia, and they wanted to dry laundry and do ironing in there. Most people were satisfied with the toilet separated from the bathroom A drain hole on the floor of the bathroom was not indispensable for most Korean-Australians. 3. Korean-Australians tend to engage in various activities in their individual rooms, and they estimated that the size of most rooms were small. They also wanted to renovate the house to expand the rooms. 4. The seating style of Korean-Australians was mostly chair-seating. Yet, they often made beds on the floor for guests, and made kimchi sitting on the floor. Also, when they were relaxing, they were using both chair-seating and floor-seating. 5. Korean-Australians were not very satisfied with the use of floor carpets because of the dust collected on the carpets, and the difficulty to clean. It may be related to their preferred floor seating style, as well. 6. Almost all Korean-Australians take off their shoes inside of the house for hygienic reasons. They had a shoes cabinet at the entrance inside of the house. 7. The most popular heating system was ducted heating. The level of satisfaction about this was moderate because hot air contains lots of dust and it makes rooms very dry. Many were using electric blankets and their desired heating system was Ondol (heated floor). 8. Korean-Australians thought that the living room was the most important place for the family, and believed it should be decorated well to entertain guests. They also pointed out that the lighting was not bright enough in general.
Molten Core Concrete Interaction (MCCI) is a complex process characterized by concrete ablation and volatile generation; Thermal and solutal convection in a bubble-agitated melt; Physico-chemical evolution of the corium pool with a wide solidification range (of the order of 1000 K). Twelve experiments have been carried out in the VULCANO facility with prototypic corium and sustained heating. The dry oxidic corium tests have contributed to show that silica-rich concrete experience an anisotropic ablation. This unexpected ablation pattern is quite reproducible and can be recalculated, provided an empirical anisotropy factor is assumed. Dry tests with oxide and metal liquid phases have also yielded unexpected results: a larger than expected steel oxidation and unexpected topology of the metallic phase (at the bottom of the cavity and also on the vertical concrete walls). Finally, VULCANO has proved its interest for the study of mitigation solutions such as the COMET bottom flooding core catcher.
Deck plates of ships or offshore structures would make out-of-plane distortion for their thin thickness. These distortions are usually straightened by thermal straightening such as flame heating method. After thermal straightening, the blocks are lifted and moved by cranes to assemble it at dry-dock stage. After this lifting process, out-of-plane deformation again happens frequently. And then, they continuously cause quality and accuracy problems in the final dry-dock process. So, it takes more time for repair and correction working. According to preceding research, the lifting process by cranes would offset the effect on thermal straightening. The target of this study is to develop a methodology analyzing the remaining efficiency of thermal straightening after block lifting. The development was based on the assumption of yield state at straightening region. Therefore the remaining efficiency was obtained by different stiffness slope while lifting & relieving. The efficiency formula was designed using inherent strain, and we made a table of zero-efficiency by cooling speed and class rule's steels. As a result, if the stress orthogonal to straightened line is calculated during lifting analysis by FEA, the efficiency can be obtained linearly to the values in the table. Finally, even optimized carling position can be designed by considering the regional data from series project and welding region on deck.
