UV 경화형 키토산/지방족 폴리에스터 Hydrogel IPN 제조 및 약물투과 (Synthesis, Properties and Permeation of Solutes through Hydrogels based on Poly(ethylene glycol)-co-Poly(lactones) diacrylate Macromers and Chitosan)

  • Triblock copolymers from poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) and D,L-lactide or $\varepsilon$-carprolactone were synthesized to prepare semi-interpenetrating polymer network (semi-IPN) with chitosan by U.V. irradiation method. Then, solute permeation through these semi-IPNs hydrogels were investigated. The structures of semi-IPNs were confirmed by FT-IR spectroscopy and wide angle X-ray diffractometer (WAXD). Equilibrium water content (EWC) of these hydrogels was in the range of 67-75%. The crystallinity, thermal properties and mechanical properties of semi-IPNs hydrogels were studied. All the hydrogels revealed a remarkable decrease in crystallinity as compared with PEG macromer itself. The tensile strengths of semi-IPNs hydrogels in dry state were rather high, but those of hydrogels in wet state decreased drastically. The permeabilities of solutes of hydrogels followed the swelling behaviors and were regulated by solute size.

  • Although the net-shape molding of composites is generally recommended, molded composites are frequently required cutting or grinding due to the dimensional inaccuracy for precision machine elements . During the composite machining operations such as cutting and grinding, the temperature at the cutting point may increase beyond the allowed limit due to the low thermal conductivity of composites, which might degrade the matrix of composite. Therefore, in this work, the temperature at the cutting point during cut-off grinding of carbon fiber epoxy composites was measured. The cutting force and surface roughness were also measured to investigate the cut-off grinding characteristics of the composites. The experiments were performed both under dry and wet grinding conditions with respect to cutting speed and feed rate. From the experimental investigation, the optimal conditions for the composite cut-off grinding were suggested.

Effect of Thermal Stress on Sexual Behaviour of Superovulated Bharat Merino Ewes

  • The present study was undertaken to study the effect of thermal stress on sexual behaviour of superovulated ewes. Fourteen adult Bharat Merino ewes with an average body weight of 29.4${\pm}$2.34 kg were randomly allocated into two groups of 7 each. All the animals were grazed on natural pasture in the morning and evening hours and housed in shed during night. Animals of Group-1 were housed in shed from 10:00 to 16:00 h while the animals of Group-2 were exposed to thermal stress in a hot chamber ($40^{\circ}C$ /6 h/day). All the animals were offered drinking water once a day at 16:30 h. Meteorological observations i.e. dry bulb, wet bulb, minimum and maximum temperature were recorded daily inside the shed as well as in hot chamber throughout the experimental period. For superovulation of animals, standard protocol developed at the Institute, using FSH (Ovagen 5.4 mg in eight injections) and PMSG (200 IU) was followed. Various sexual behaviour parameters (circling, tail fanning, head turning, standing and approaching to ram) and estrus incidence (onset of estrus and estrus duration) were observed in both the groups. The different estrus symptoms were graded subjectively on arbitrary scale of 0-5 where 0 representing no sexual behaviour (0%) and 5 representing maximum intensity in sexual behaviour (100%). Estrus was detected with the help of a marked aproned ram of proven vigor at six hourly intervals. The average percent values for sexual behaviour parameters recorded in Group-1 and Group-2 animals were 53.7${\pm}$3.76 vs. 41.1${\pm}$2.18 for circling, 71.8${\pm}$5.42 vs. 49.0${\pm}$4.41 for tail fanning, 64.7${\pm}$3.30 vs. 44.5${\pm}$4.34 for head turning, 90.1${\pm}$3.16 vs. 75.8${\pm}$4.02 for standing and 63.8${\pm}$4.8 vs. 41.9${\pm}$4.58 for approaching to ram. Animals exposed to thermal stress had significantly lower values of these sexual behaviour parameters. The animals kept in shed exhibited estrus earlier (25.4${\pm}$1.12 h) and duration was higher (37.7${\pm}$1.59 h) as compared to animals exposed to thermal stress i.e. 30.6${\pm}$1.16 h and 31.7${\pm}$3.57 h, respectively. The findings of the study indicate that thermal stress reduces the intensity of sexual behaviour in ewes and may result in failure of the animal to mate and conceive.

  • Finned-tube heat exchangers are often made with aluminum fins and copper tubes. Usually the contact between fin collar and tube surface for finned tube heat exchanger is secured by mechanical expansion of the tubes. The objective of the present study is to apprehend how much effect clearance has on the performance of heat exchanger. This effect is studied using an experimental approach. The thermal fluid measurements are made using a psychometric calorimeter. Frontal air velocity varies in the range from 1.0m/s to 3.0 m/s. The heat transfer rate of sample which has bigger clearance is only 27% compare with the other's in dry condition. In wet condition, its heat transfer rate is 78% compare with the other's.

Effects of Relative Humidity and Temperature on the Transport of Chloride in the Concrete

  • To investigate the role of RH and temperature on the transport of chloride in the concrete, two groups of specimens were configured. For both groups, mix design was based on w/c=0.45, $400kg/m^3$ cement, $794kg/m^3$ fine aggregate and $858kg/m^3$ coarse aggregate. After specimen fabrication these were exposed to four different RH (35, 55, 75 and $95\%$ RH) and temperature (0, 20, 30 and $40^{\circ}C$) conditions. After 3 and 6 months $15\%$ NaCl exposure 5mm cores were taken. These cores were sliced and individual cores were ground to powder. In addition, to evaluate the effect of temperature on the chloride binding some powder samples were leached in the each of four temperature chambers. Chloride titration fur these was performed using FDOT acid titration method. Based upon the resultant data conclusions were reached regarding that 1) effective diffusion coefficient, $D_e$, increased with increasing exposure RH, suggesting that the size and number of water paths increased with elevated moisture content in the specimens, 2) $D_e$ increased with increasing temperature in the range of 0 to $40^{\circ}C$ possibly by elevated thermal activation of chloride ions and reduced chloride binding at higher temperature, 3) water soluble chloride concentration, $[Cl^-]_s$, increased with increasing temperature, and 4) chloride concentration profile for initially dry concrete specimens was higher than for the initially wet ones indicating pronounced capillary suction (sorption) occurred for the dry concrete specimens.

라인 프린팅을 위한 어레이 방식 잉크젯 헤드 설계 (Design of array typed inkjet head for line-printing)

  • 고속 및 대면적 인쇄를 위한 라인 프린팅 기술은 늘어난 헤드 길이만큼 헤드 내부로 잉크를 공급하는 유로를 확보해야 하는 구조적 취약점과 제조 과정에서 발생하는 잔류응력에 의한 피드홀 변형으로 인해 노즐층이 파손되거나 잉크가 누출되는 결함이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 견고하고 신뢰할 수 있으며 라인 프린팅 방식에 보다 적합한 열전사 방식의 잉크젯 프린트 헤드 형상을 제안하고자 한다. 먼저 실험을 통해 초기 라인 프린팅 헤드의 변형량을 측정한 후 이를 등가의 하중량으로 변환하였으며 FEA 해석을 통해 하중 추정 방법의 타당성을 검증하였다. 또한 헤드 크기를 증가시키지 않으면서 변형을 최소화할 수 있도록 기둥이나 지지벽으로 단위 노즐을 보강하거나 지지빔이나 건/습식각된 브릿지를 추가하여 내부 강성을 증가시킨 헤드 구조를 설계하였으며, 피드홀 변형이 최대 90% 감소하는 것을 확인하였다. 제안된 형상 중 공정 편의성과 제작비용을 고려하여 건식각된 피드홀 브릿지 형태의 헤드를 선정하였으며 실제 제작을 통해 노즐층 변형이나 잉크 누출 없이 정상 작동하는 것을 확인하였다.

The Psycho-physiological Response of Polyethylene Terephthalate Irradiated by Ultra-Violet: Subjective Fabric Hand and Wear Comfort

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the subjective fabric hand evaluation and wear comfort of PET treated by Ultraviolet and to evaluate the subjective results from the investigation of microclimate temperature. The subjective hand evaluation was performed by 20 subjects (age: 20-25) with 5-point scale questionnaires to investigate the change of PET knit fabrics treated for different times, specifically, 0, 30 and 90 minutes. The questionnaires were composite with 8 questions; roughness, smoothness, wetness, stiffness, coolness, touch, preference, and comfort. In order to evaluate sensations of wear comfort, we made garments with UV treated fabric and five female students were tested. They walked at the speed of 6.7 km/ hr for 15 minutes in an environment, which was controlled at $29^{\circ}C,\;75{\pm}5%$ RH. Before and after exercising, the microclimate under clothing and subjective wear comfort was measured. The results of subjective evaluation of fabric hand were that untreated and treated for 30 minutes PET were recognized as similar and have a good evaluation on comfort, preference, and touch. According to the result of wear comfort, clothing treated by UV for 90 minutes had the lowest value on the thermal and humidity sensations. In addition, the value of tactile and comfort sensation was the highest on the clothing treated by UV for 90 minutes. In the case of objective evaluation, PET treated for 90 minutes was the lowest on microclimate humidity. PET irradiated by UV for 90 minutes was more 'cool' in thermal sensation and more 'dry' in wet sensation. Accordingly, it was consistent with the result of subjective wear comfort.

고감성 의류용 Nylon/PP 온감 니트 소재의 물성 (The Physical Property of Nylon/PP Warm-up Knitted Fabric for High Emotional Garment)

  • This study investigated the physical properties of warm up yarns and their knitted fabrics including the dye affinity and color fastness to washing of these knitted fabrics according to the various dyeing times and temperatures on dyeing process. The results were summarized as follows. The tenacity of Nylon/PP warm-up yarn was 4g/d and breaking strain was 4.5%. The wet and dry thermal shrinkages were higher than those of PET warm-up yarn. The maximum heat flow rate(Qmax) of Nylon/PP warm-up knitted fabric was lower than that of PET warm-up knitted fabric and heat keeping rate(a) of Nylon/PP warm-up knitted fabric was higher as 47% than that of PET warm-up knitted fabric. It was shown that the shape retention and wearing comfort of Nylon/PP warm-up knitted fabric were better than those of PET warm-up knitted fabric. The dye-affinity(K/S) of Nylon/PP warm-up knitted fabric showed maximum value at the dyeing condition of 40minute or 50minute dyeing time with $80^{\circ}C$ dyeing temperature, but PET warm-up knitted fabric showed maximum value at the 30minute or 40minute with $110^{\circ}C$ dyeing temperature. Finally, the color fastness to washing of Nylon/PP warm-up knitted fabric showed good value as between 4 and 5 grade.

미더덕 껍질과 PVA를 혼합한 재료로부터 제조한 복합섬유의 제법과 성질(I) (Preparation and Properties of Regenerated Composite Fibers made from Styela Clava Tunics/PVA Blending(I))

  • Regenerated composite fibers are prepared from solution(styela clava tunics /poly vinyl alchol) using N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide(NMMO)/water(87/13)(wt/wt) as a solvent by dry-wet spinning. The chemical cellulose (94%, ${\alpha}$-cellulose content) used for this study is extracted from styela clava tunics (SCT, Midduck), which are treated in chemical process and mechanical grinding. The structure and physical properties of regenerated composite fibers were investigated through IR-spetra, DSC, TGA and SEM. The optimal blend ratio of SCT/PVA for spinning solution was 70/30 and the total weight was 4% concentrations in NMMO/water solvent system. The fiber density, moisture contents and the degree of swelling were $1.5(g/cm^3)$ 10.2(%) and 365(%), respectively. The crystallinity index of composite fibers are decreased as the PVA contents increased. Thermal decomposition of composite fibers took place in two stages at around $250^{\circ}C$ and $550^{\circ}C$. The best thermal stability was obtained with 30% PVA contents.

외기 온·습도 변화에 따른 종이재질 전열교환 엘리먼트 성능에 관한 연구 (Thermal Performance of an Enthalpy Exchanger Made of Paper at Different Outdoor Temperatures and Humidities)

  • 전열교환 엘리먼트는 열회수형 환기유닛의 핵심부품으로, 외기와 실내공기의 열 및 수분교환이 이루어진다. 본 연구에서는 현재 국내에서 사용되고 있는 전열교환 엘리먼트에 대하여 외기의 온 습도 변화가 전열교환 엘리먼트의 성능에 미치는 영향을 실험적으로 연구하였다. 전열교환 엘리먼트를 통과 하는 공기 유량, 입 출구의 건 습구 온도를 정밀하게 측정할 수 있는 실험장치를 특별히 제작하였고, 항온항습실내에서 외기의 상대습도 또는 절대습도를 변화시키며 실험을 수행하였다. 실험결과는 현열전달 유용도과 잠열전달 유용도으로 평가되는데 잠열 전달 유용도는 외기의 상대습도의 증가에 따라 증가하였으나 절대습도의 변화에는 거의 무관하게 냐타났다. 한편 현열 교환 유용도는 외기의 온도 및 습도 변화에 무관하게 일정하였다.
