Expression levels of filaggrin-2 in relation to drip loss in pigs

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the expression level of filaggrin-2 (FLG2) in correlation with drip loss. Methods: The muscle samples were randomly taken from a local meat supplier. Samples were taken from Longissimus lumborum muscles to evaluate the drip loss (n = 100). Five muscles per group (low and high drip loss) were selected to evaluate FLG2 mRNA and protein expression levels. Results: mRNA of FLG2 gene was not significantly different in pigs with different levels of drip loss (p>0.05). Statistical analysis revealed that FLG2 protein expression levels were significantly different between the drip loss groups. Western blot revealed that the high drip loss group had higher FLG2 protein expression level than the low drip loss group (p<0.001). Moreover, immunohistochemistry revealed the high signal intensity was on the muscle cell membrane and cytoplasm. Conclusion: FLG2 protein might play roles in drip loss of pork and will provide the basis for information to improving meat quality traits in pigs.

Blood haematology, muscle pH and serum cortisol changes in pigs with different levels of drip loss

  • Objective: An experiment was conducted to study the blood haematology, muscle pH, and serum cortisol changes in pigs with different levels of drip loss. Methods: Two groups (low and high) of 20 animals were selected from 100 pigs based on drip loss. All [$Duroc{\times}(Large\;White{\times}Landrace)$] pigs were slaughtered according to standard slaughtering procedures. At exsanguinations, blood samples were taken for the haematological parameters and serum cortisol analysis. The muscle samples were taken from longissimus dorsi muscle to evaluate the muscle pH and drip loss. Results: Haematological parameters of low drip loss group showed higher content of white blood cells and monocytes than high drip loss group (p<0.05). The low drip loss group had higher muscle pH at 45 min (p<0.05) and 24 h (p<0.001) post-mortem than the high drip loss group. However, there was no significant difference in serum cortisol levels (p>0.05). Conclusion: Drip loss is mainly affected by the muscle pH decline after slaughter and also might be affected by white blood cells and monocytes.

드립 첨가가 돈육 소시지의 품질 및 저장성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Added Drip on Quality and Shelf Life of Pork Sausage)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effect of drip addition on quality and sensory characteristics of pork sausage. The pH of pork sausage was not affected by addition of nitrite or drip. Hunter's "a" value of pork sausage nitrite added was higher than pork sausage none added nitrite. The remained content of nitrite in nitrite added pork sausage was not over the permitted value(70ppm). The hardness, springiness, chewiness and brittleness of pork sausage added drip was higher than pork sausage none added drip. The free amino acid content was higher in pork sausage prepared by addition of nitrite and drip. The sensory value was not different between samples. The VBN, TBARS and total plate count during storage was low in pork sausage prepared by addition on nitrite. There, the drip was desirable to use in preparation of meat product.

지하점적관개와 고랑관개의 물 이용 효율 (Water Use Efficiency of Subsurface Drip Irrigation and Furrow Irrigation)

  • The primary objective of this study was to compare water use efficiencies between subsurface drip irrigation and furrow irrigation. The uniformity of used drip lines was tested to determine if clogging would be a threat to the long-term success of a subsurface drip irrigation system. Three crops, cantaloupe, lettuce, and bell pepper, were grown in four plots for each irrigation system. Significantly less water was applied with subsurface drip irrigation than with furrow irrigation (29.5 % less for cantaloupe and 43.2 % less for bell poppet) in order to produce similar crop yields. Water use efficiencies with subsurface drip irrigation were significantly higher than those with furrow irrigation fur cantaloupe (P-value = 0.018) and bell pepper (P-value ${\leq}$ 0.001). Drip-irrigated lettuce, a shallow-rooted crop, had moderately higher water use efficiency during the first two seasons, while no difference was observed in the third season. After the experiment, the uniformity of the drip lines was 92.1 % on average and classified as good. The high values fur water use efficiency and uniformity indicate that subsurface drip irrigation can be a sustainable method for conserving irrigation water.

점적관개 시설의 관개균일도 및 성능 평가 (Discharge Uniformity and Performance Assessment of Drip Irrigation System)

  • Drip irrigation is a affordable irrigation under structured cultivation. Drip irrigation system with high uniformity can be achieved through effective design, maintenance and management of irrigation systems. Nevertheless the design guidelines have not been established for the drip irrigation system products in domestic and imported considering cultivation method and greenhouse environment in Korea. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the performance of drip irrigation system with uniformity through an experiment. The experiment was conducted to study with nine different types of emitters produced in domestic and imported. Hazen-Williams coefficients were also estimated for the drip emitter through hydraulic simulation for design use. It was found that approximately 91.5 % for 10 cm emitter spacing and 96.2 % for 30 cm emitter spacing of statistical uniformity were observed in respectively. Average emission uniformity was decreased as the reduction of emitter spacing. The results would be used in the drip irrigation system design and guideline construction.

재동결 명태육의 냉동변성에 미치는 축합인산염처리의 효과에 대하여 (EFFECTS OF CONDENSED PHOSPHATES ON THE DENATURATION OF ALASKA POLLACK MUSCLE DURING REFREEZING AN COLE STORAGE)

  • 재동결 명태육의 냉동변성에 미치는 축합인산염처리의 영향을 밝히고져 북양산 냉동명태를 해동하여 fillet로 만든 후 sodium polyphosphate 및 sodium polyphosphate: sodium pyrophosphate(1:1, w/w) 용액에 농도별, 시간별로 침지처리하여 동결저장한 후 해동하였을 때의 육중에 흡수된 인산염량, free drip, expressible drip, drip중의 total solid, total nitrogen 및 DNA함량, 해동시의 fillet의 관능적품질 및 가열조리시 중량감소 등을 실험하여 육질변성의 정도를 비교 검토하였다. 1. 해결전 처리에 의한 육중의 인산염흡수량은 침지시간보다 처리액농도에 더욱 많은 영향을 받았으며, 본 실험 조건하의 전처리육의 인산염함량은 모두 FAO/WHO의 허용기준량이하였다. 2 Drip의 발생량은 육중의 인산염량와 역상관계를 나타 내었고 drip감소에 가장 효과적인 처리조건은 $10\%$, sodium polyphosphate액에 5분간 침지한 것으로 무처리때의 drip 량의 약 $14\%$ 였다. 3. Drip중의 total solid, total nitrogen 및 DNA 함량은 대체적으로 drip량에 비례하는 결과를 나타내었으며, 특히 DNA 감소에 미치는 축합인산염처리의 효과는 컸다. 4. 해동한 fillet의 관능적품질은 고농도처리액에 처리한 것은 광택이 있고, 육질은 강성이 있어 양호하였으나, 저농도액에 처리한 것 및 무처리의 것은 광택과 강성이 좋지 못 하였다. 5. 가열조리시의 감량은 고농도처리액에 장시간 처리한 것은 감량제어의 효과가 다소 있는 듯하였으나, 저농도액에 처리한 것을 그 효과를 인정할 수 없었다.

PSE돈육 드립의 열안정성에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Thermal Stability of Free Drip Released from PSE Pork Muscle)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the characteristics on the thermal denaturation of free drip released from pork loin during chilled storage using DSC(differential scanning calorimetry). DSC thermogram of drip released from normal pork(NORD) was characterized by a minor peak and two major peaks with temperature maxima at $61.5^{\circ}C$, $71.7^{\circ}C$ (associated with sarcoplasmic proteins) and $84.3^{\circ}C$ (associated with protein-protein interaction and aggregation). In the denaturation temperature of drip released from PSE pork (PSED), the peak(Tmax) at $59.0^{\circ}C$ was reduced by $2.5^{\circ}C$. When the thermograms were divided into segments correponding to the three peaks, $\Delta$H2 was shown to be reduced by 10% in PSED as compared to NORD. With the decrease in the solubility of sarcoplasmic proteins in PSE muscle, there was a corresponding increase the drip loss during the storage.

돼지고기 드립의 몇가지 특성과 염지 효과 (Some Properties and Curing Effect of Drip from Frozen-thawed Pork meat)

  • This study was carried out to some properties and curring effect of drip obtained from frozen-thawed park loin ham belly and imported belly by thawing process at 4$^{\circ}C$. Moisture content and pH value of drips were 88.05~90.85% and 5,72~6.05 and do not show significant differences between each samples. Protein contents were 11.07, 8.85, 8,76 and8,13% in the drips from domestic pork loin, ham, belly and imported belly, respectively. Approximately 99% of the drip were constituted with moisture and protein in any part of domestic pork and imported belly. Glutamic acid proline glycine, alanine and lysine were the predominant amino acid in the drips. Curing process of the drip by nitrite increased the pH value and total amino acid content. The residual nitrite decreased during the period of curing and total plate counts in drip with nitrite did not reach 1$\times$105CFU/g until 7 days.

종방향 전기장 근접 감지 방식 수액 주입 측정 센서 (Intravenous Infusion Monitoring Sensor Based on Longitudinal Electric Field Proximity Sensing Technique)

  • A novel intravenous (IV) infusion monitoring sensor is presented to measure the drop rate in the drip chamber of an IV infusion set. It is based on a capacitive proximity sensor and detects the variation of the longitudinal electric field induced by the drop falling into the drip chamber. Unlike the conventional capacitor sensor with two semi-cylindrical conductor plates, the proximity sensor for IV monitoring is composed of a pair of conductor rings which are mounted on the outer surface of the drip chamber with a specific gap between them. The characteristics of the proximity sensor for IV monitoring were investigated through three dimensional electrostatic simulations. It showed quite superior performances in comparison with the conventional capacitor sensor. Especially, the proposed proximity sensor exhibits consistent sensitivity regardless of its mounting position on the drip chamber, operates normally though the drip chamber is tilted and shows robustness to the changes of the drop size and the drip factor of the IV infusion set. Thus, the proximity sensor for IV monitoring is more suitable for use in actual environment of IV therapy compared with the conventional capacitor sensor.

원통형 점적기의 압력과 경질미로의 길이에 따른 토출 특성 (Discharging Performance in Length of Hard Labyrinth and Pressure of Cylinder Type Drip Irrigation Hose)

  • 점적기의 성능은 압력보상 기능에 따른 유량 균등성에 의해 좌우되고, 유량의 균등성은 점적기 내부의 위치에 따른 공급압력이 일정할 때 이루어진다. 점적기의 압력보상은 탄성을 가진 연질의 실리콘과 미로가 동시에 결합된 경우에 가장 큰 효과를 나타낸다. 그러나 경질 미로만으로 구성된 점적기의 경우에는 미로의 길이와 내부구조에 따라 유량이 크게 달라진다. 경질 미로만으로 구성된 점적기의 경우에는 연질의 실리콘을 동시에 결합한 점적기보다 공급 압력에 따른 유량의 오차가 훨씬 크게 나타나므로 간편한 반면에 성능에서는 불리한 조건을 가진다. 경질미로로 구성된 점적호스의 경우 공급 압력과 미로의 길이와 단면에 따른 최적 설계를 통하여 적절한 조건에서 폭넓게 사용할 수 있는 장점이 있으므로 이에 대한 연구는 점적기의 성능을 개선하는데 매우 중요한 역할을 한다. 그러나 이러한 분야의 연구는 거의 이루어지지 않은 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 경질미로로 구성된 점적호스의 성능평가를 구명하기 위해 원형의 미로를 길이별로 8단계(#1~#8)로 나누어, 공급압력(0.5~3.0bar) 변화에 따른 출구유량을 실험적 방법과 이론적 해석(CFD)으로 구하였다.
