An electric drill is a handy tool used in a machine shop, which consists of motor, gear, bearing, shaft, and case, i.e., a gear driving system. Low level vibration and noise of the electric drill can bring the assurance of the quality and reliability of the machine. The vibration sources of the electric drill should be investigated for the reduction of the vibration and noise of the system. Through the experiments in laboratory and the various signal processing procedure for the measured vibration and sound signals, the characteristics of the vibration of the electric drill are investigated. And its propagation path is sought using partial coherence function.

In conventional drilling, burr geometry can be changed according to the variation of drill geometry like point angle, rake angle. Step drilling is proposed to minimize the burr formation in drilling operation. The burr formed in first cutting can be removed in second cutting by the edge in step. The burr formed in second cutting by the edge in step can be minimized according to the change of geometry like, step angle and depth. The mechanism in step drilling is analyzed. Some step drills are applied to drilling the input shaft which is used for vehicle steering. To measure the burr formed in drilling, laser and height gage are used.
Recently the most of deep foundation were socketed into weathered rock or soft rock to carry large foundation loads. The end bearing behavior of piles socketed in rock is generally dependent on the rock mass conditions with discontinuities and rock strength. Therefore, it is very important that the estimating rock classification with relation of TCR, RQD and unpredicted rock condition. In this study, the construction failure example of drilled shaft due to mistaking to estimate the rock classification on penetration were analyzed in site, so we hope to discuss problems of determining the rock socketed length of drilled shaft on construction.
South anchorage(AN1, Myodo side) of supension bridge between Myodo and Gwangyang is designed as rock anchorage with 36m anchor length using the resistance of rock mass in Myodo. Checking the overall stability of the anchorage, we considered rock joints, bedding planes, fault zones and condition of rock structure in situ by analysis results for photo-lineaments, aerial photograph interpretation and drill-hole logs are considered. This anchorage consists of an access shaft, adit, and the upper and lower concrete bearing plate to introduce pre-stressing force into rock mass.
By the localization of electro-chemical dissolution region, we succeeded in a few micrometer size hole drilling on stainless steel with the radial machining gap of about 1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Tens of nanosecond duration voltage pulses were applied between WC micro-shaft and stainless steel in the 0.1 M $H_2SO_4$ solution. Pt balance electrode was used to drill the high aspect ratio micro-hole without generation of Cr oxide layer on the machined surface. The effects of applied voltage, pulse duration, and pulse period on localization distance were investigated according to machining time. We suggested the taper reduction technique especially brought up on blind-hole machining. High quality micro-holes with 8 ${\mu}m$ diameter with 20 ${\mu}m$ depth and 12 ${\mu}m$ diameter with 100 ${\mu}m$ depth were drilled on 304 stainless steel foil. The various hole shapes were also produced including stepped holes and taper free holes.
The rapid growth of the economy recently gas led to increasing social needs for large scaled structures, such as high-rise buildings and long span bridges. In building these large-scaled structures the trend has been to construct foundations beating on or in rock masses in order to ensure stability and serviceability of the structure under several significant loads. However. when designing the drilled shaft foundation socketed in rock masses in Korea, the bearing capacity for the pier used to be determined by using the empirical expression, which depends on the compressive strength of the rock, or presumable bearing capacity recommended on foreign references or manuals. In this study, numerical analyses are used to trace rock-socketed pile behavior and are made alike with pile load test result in field. The result of this numerical analyses study have shown that following factors have a significant influence on the load capacity and settlement of the pier. Significant influence first factor of the geometry of the socket as defined by the length to diameter ratio. Second factor of the modulus of the rock both around the socket and below the base. third factor of the condition of the end of the pier with respect to the removal of drill cuttings and other loose material from the bottom of the socket.
