Marine emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) have received much attention because the International Maritime Organization (IMO) requires the installation of vapour emission control systems for the loading of crude oils or petroleum products onto ships. It was recently recognised that significant corrosion occurs inside these vapour emission control systems, which can cause severe clogging issues. In this study, we analysed the chemical composition of drain water sampled from currently operating systems to investigate the primary causes of corrosion in vapour recovery systems. Immersion and electrochemical tests were conducted under simulated conditions with various real drain water samples, and the impact of corrosion on the marine vapour recovery system was carefully investigated. Moreover, corrosion tests on alternative materials were conducted to begin identifying appropriate substitutes. Thermodynamic calculations showed the effects of environmental factors on the production of condensed sulphuric acid from VOC gas. A model of sulphuric acid formation and accumulation by the characteristics of VOC from crude oil and flue gas is suggested.
To investigate the applicability of Precious Slag Ball as the alternative material such as vertical drains, it is necessary to check the drainage effect of it in the field construction. In order to attain an successful design it is important to predict problems encountered in field construction. Accordingly, in this study the laboratory tests were executed under different conditions before applying of the field. 4 cases including Precious Slag Ball, sand+Precious Slag Ball, pack Precious Slag Ball and sand as vertical drains were conducted, and under the base of the laboratory tests the field test was executed and analyzed. By the upper results it is apposite to use Precious Slag Ball as vertical drains.

We have fabricated the poly-silicon thin film transistor(TFT) which has the LDD-region with graded spacer. The devices of n-channel poly-si TFT's hydrogenated by $H_2$ and $H_2$/plasma processes were fabricated for the devices reliability. We have biased the devices under the gate voltage stress conditions of maximum leakage current. The parametric characteristics caused by gate voltage stress conditions in hydrogenated devices are investigated by measuring/analyzing the drain current, leakage current, threshold voltage($V_{th}$), sub-threshold slope(S) and transconductance($G_m$) values. As a analyzed results of characteristics parameters, the degradation characteristics in hydrogenated n-channel polysilicon TFT's are mainly caused by the enhancement of dangling bonds at the poly-Si/$SiO_2$ interface and the poly-Si grain boundary due to dissolution of Si-H bonds. The structure of novel proposed poly-Si TFT's are the simplicities of the fabrication process steps and the decrease of leakage current by reduced lateral electric field near the drain region.
The conventional single-core PBDs have been widely used in order to accelerate consolidation settlement of soft grounds. When using the single-core PBD in a thick clay deposit, a delay of consolidation may occur due to high confining pressure in the thick deposit and necking of drains. This study is to compare the performances of soil improvement by the single-core and double-core PBD installed at a site in Busan New Port which exhibits approximately a 40m-thick clay layer. An in-situ test program was performed at the test site where a set of the double-core PBDs and single-core PBDs were installed to compare the efficiency of each drain. In addition, the discharge capacity of each PBD has been measured using the modified Delft Test. A series of laboratory tests for estimating in-situ soil properties have also been performed in order to obtain input parameters for a numerical program ILLICON. The discharge capacity of the double-core PBD is higher than that of the single-core PBD in the modified Delft Test. However it is observed from the comparative in-situ test and numerical analysis that there is no difference in the performance of ground improvement between the two drain systems. This discrepancy comes from the fact that the amount of water released during consolidation in most common field conditions is much smaller than the capacity of even the single core PBD. And thus, considering actual field conditions, it can be concluded that the single-core PBD has enough discharge capacity even in the thick clay deposit such as this test site.

In this paper, the laboratory test results with middle-sired ,soil box test in modeling the in-situ installing of horizontal drains are discussed the estimation of the optimum negative pressure. The test was carried out in the different vacuum pressure conditions together with the measurement for the settlement and volume change of drained water by the installed drains during the consolidation process. After the test, the water content was measured to both directions of lateral distance from the drain and depth of the soil, to find out the distribution of ground improvement and strength enhancement. From the analysis on the distribution of water content, the gradual application of vacuum pressure to higher level by pre-determined stages starting from low vacuum pressure is found to be effective and desirable. In the comparison of the degrees of consolidation with elapsed time, the calculated value by the prediction method based on the Barren's conventional theory showed a good agreement with the measured value. With this, It is positively considered that the applicability of the prediction method based on Barren's theory to the practical design of horizontal drains can be justified such as in the calculation of drain spacing and consolidation period.
Recently, the demand for industrial and residental land are increasing with economic growth, but it is difficult to acquire areas for development with good ground condition. For efficient and balanced development of land, new development projects are being carried out not only the areas with inland but those with the soft ground as well. As soft grounds have complex engineering properties and high variations such as ground subsidence especially when their strength is low and depth is deep, we need to accurately analyze the engineering properties of soft grounds and find general measures for stable and economic design and management. Vertical drain technology is widely used to accelerate the consolidation of soft clay deposits and dredged soil under pre-loading and various types of vertical drain are used with there discharge capacity. Under field conditions, discharge capacity is changed with various reason, such as soil condition, confinement pressure, long-term clogging and folding of vertical drains and so on. Therefore, many researcher and engineer recommend the use of required discharge capacity. In this paper, the experiment study were carried out to obtain the discharge capacity of six different types of vertical drains by utilizing the large-scale model tests and discharge capacity, degree of consolidation with the time elapsed.
Most shield tunnels are designed based on the assumption of a undrained condition. But they are operated as drained tunnels in which underground water flows and passes through a drainage facility. Therefore, it is necessary that the drainage condition be considered in the shield tunnel design. In this research, new testing device which can simulate the underground tunnel located below ground water level, was developed. Total stress and pore water pressure were examined and an inflow water into an inner pipe was measured using the testing device. Test results showed that the total stress, which was the sum of effective stress and pore pressure, increased more in an undrained condition and an inflow water into an inner pipe was proportional to the water pressure but inversely proportional to the loading stress. Consequently, if the drainage is considered in the shield tunnel design, the more economical design can be expected because of the stress reduction of the lining.

A series of injection and drainage test were conducted on an circular acrylic tube to investigate the pressure generated by the accumulated fill materials inside a circular acrylic tube structure. The acrylic tube was filled by means of gravity filling with a slurry material having an average water content of 700%. The water head during the filling process was 1.8m and the bottom pressure during initial filling was 20.18kPa. The recorded stress at the sides of the acrylic tube was 17.89kPa during the filling process and was reduced to 13.58kPa during the leaving process. Continuous drainage of the acrylic tube has greatly influenced the stresses around the tube structure. As the water is gradually allowed to overflow, the generated pressure at the topmost pressure sensor of the tube was reduced further to 2.17kPa. Eventually, the initially liquid state slurry material transforms into plastic state after water has dissipated and substantial soil particles are deposited in the acrylic tube. The final water content of the deposited silt inside the acrylic tube after the test was 42%. It was found that the state of stresses(geo-static earth pressures) in the acrylic tube was anisotropic rather than isotropic.

In order to make the critical path analysis of gas pipeline located under rigid pipes for interference behavior, FE analysis is performed considering real buried conditions of a drain and a gas pipe according to intersection angle of two pipes. A drain pipe and gas pipe have cover depth respectively 1.0m and 3.39m and this study considers a interference angle in the range of $0{\sim}90^{\circ}$. In this paper, the critical path is analyzed from the result of Ring Deflection and bending stress according to intersection angle. In the event intersection angle of two pipes equal to the critical path of lower pipe. The analysis results show that the critical path of lower gas pipe according to interference behavior has relation to intersection angle of two pipes.
A combined sewer system can quickly drain both storm water and sewage, improve the living environment and resolve flood measures. A combined sewer system is much superior to separate sewer system in reduction of the non-point source pollutant load. However, during rainfall. it is impossible in time, space and economic terms to cope with the entire volume of storm water. A sewage system that exceeds the capacity of the sewer facilities drain into the river mixed with storm-water. In addition, high concentration of CSOs by first-flush increase pollution load and reduce treatment efficiency in sewage treatment plant. The aim of this study was to develope a processing unit for the removal of high CSOs concentrations in relation to water quality during rainfall events in a combined sewer. The most suitable operational design for processing facilities under various conditions was also determined. With a designed discharge of 19.89 m/min, the removal efficiency was good, without excessive overflow, but it was less effective in relation to underflow, and decreased with decreasing particle size and specific gravity. It was necessary to lessen radius of vortex separator for increasing inlet velocity in optimum range for efficient performance, and removal efficiency was considered to high because of rotation increases through enlargement of comparing height of vortex separator in diameter. By distribution of influent particle size, the actual turbulent flow and experimental results was a little different from the theoretical removal efficiency due to turbulent effect in device.
