Double Pancake Coil형 고온초전도 변압기의 전기적 절연 특성 (Dielectric Insulation Properties of Double Pancake Coil Type HTS Transformer)

  • High temperature superconductor can only be applied against an engineering specofication that has to be determined for each particular application form the design requirements for economic viability and for operation margins in service. However, in order to realize the HTS transformer, it is necessary to establish the high voltage insulation technique in cryogenic temperature. Therefore, the composite insulation of double pancake coil type transformer are described and AC breakdown voltage characteristics of liquid nitrogen(LN$_2$) under HTS pancake coil electrode made by Bi-2223/Ag are studied. The Breakdown of LN$_2$ is dominated electrode shape and distance. The influence of pressure on breakdown voltage is discussed with th different electrode. For the electrical insulation design of turn-to-turn insulation for the HTS transformer, we tested breakdown strength of insulation sheet under varying pressure. And we investigated surface flashover properties of LN$_2$ and complex conition of cryogenic gaseous nitrogen(CGN$_2$) obove a LN$_2$ surface. The surface voltage of GFRP was measured as a function of thickness and electrode distance in LN$_2$ and complex condition of CGN$_2$ above a LN$_2$ surface. this research presented information of electrical insulation design for double pancake coil(DPC) type HTS transformer.

  • A winding machine to fabricate the double pancake coils was manufactured. A race-track type double pancake coil using high temperature superconductor (HTS) tape was prepared and I-V and I-H characteristic curves were obtained at the atmosphere of liquid nitrogen. The winding method to make the double pancake coil and its properties is discussed.

  • HTS transformer experimentally. High temperature superconducting(HTS) power apparatus are very promising candidates for application. Especially, these advantages make superconducting transformers very promising candidates for application in electrical power engineering and locomotives. In order to realize the HTS transformer, it is necessary to establish the high voltage insulation technique in cryogenic temperature. So far, insulation research of Pancake type HTS transformer is lacking nothing but insulation research of . solenoid type transformer consisted. Therefore, the composite insulation of double pancake coil type transformer are described and ac breakdown voltage characteristics of liquid nitrogen(LN$_2$) under HTS pancake coil electrode made by Bi-2223/Ag are studied. Breakdown in LN$_2$ is dominated electrode shape and distance. The relation between surface flashover voltage is considered for FRP. This research presented basis information of electrical insulation design for double pancake coil type HTS transformer.

  • The high temperature superconductor transformers gain interests from the industries. This paper described construction and test results of 10㎸A HTS transformer Three phase transformer with double pancake windings were constructed. To reduce the leakage magnetic field, secondary coil were placed between the two primary coils. BSCCO-2223 wire. silicon sheet steel core and FRP cryostats were used to construct the transformer. Three coils were stacked in one cryostat. Two double pancake coils were connected in series for the primary coil and one double pancake coil was used for the secondary coil. Total number of turns of the primary winding and the secondary winding were 112turns and 98urns, respectively, The rated voltages of each winding were 440/220V. The rated currents of each winding were 13.1/26.2A. After the tests of basic properties of the three phase HTS transformer using no-load test, short-circuit test and full-load test, continuous operation of 100 hours with pure resistive load has been carried out. Test results proved over-load capability and reliability of the HTS transformer.

  • A double pancake winding method is widely used to make the superconducting magnet, using high temperature superconductor (HTS) tape. In the double pancake winding method, the joints with contact resistances between double pancake coils are inevitably needed. The electrical joule heating on the contacts causes refrigerant loss during operation. And a space outside the winding, for splices and mechanical support, is more than that for its layer-wound equivalent. In this paper, a double pancake winding method in order to reduce the number of the joints was proposed. Both of the double pancake coils using the conventional winding method and the proposed winding method have been fabricated and tested to make the solution technically feasible in the double pancake winding method. Especially, critical-current tests of the fabricated double pancake coils were conducted in order to show the same performance and confirm contact resistances between double pancake coils.

전도 냉각을 이용한 고온 초전도 회전기용 모델 코일의 특성 평가 (Evaluation of a model coil characteristics for HTS rotating machine using conduction-cooled)

  • In large scale superconducting rotating machine, HTS field coils are constructed with many stacks of single or double pancake coils connected in series. In spite of its higher thermal stability, HTS field coil experiences some quench, which results in some part of burn-out in the field coils. Thus in the view point of the HTS rotating machine field coil design and testing, it was very important to predict the possibility of quench occurrence in the designed field coils. In this paper, a HTS racetrack coil constructed with two single pancake coils and one double pancake coil was tested in LN2 and cooling by GM refrigerator. It is wound using the Bi-2223 tape. The experimental details and results are presented in this paper.

  • For insulation design of the superconducting transformer, many types of insulation tests should be carried out. To clarify the components of insulation for superconducting transformer, there are main four parts as 1ike that turn-to-turn interior of each primary and secondary windings, layer-to-layer between primary and secondary windings, and winding to grounded structures. The insulation components should meet the required withstand voltage of the system and enough safety factors must included. As the fundamental insulation characteristics, we tested surface flashover voltage of spacer that would place between the coils and would take the role of both cooling duct and insulator. The structure of spacer in practice vary depending on coil type, in this work we considered double pancake coil for the superconducting transformer. In this study we tested flashover voltages of several arrangement of spacer.

  • To obtain Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) measurement of membrane protein, an NMR magnet is required to generate high intensity, homogeneity, and stability of field. A High-Temperature Superconducting (HTS) magnet is a promising alternative to a conventional Low-Temperature Superconducting (LTS) NMR magnet for high field, current density, and stability margin. Conventionally, an HTS coil has been wound by several winding techniques such as Single-Pancake (SP), Double-Pancake (DP), and layer-wound. The DP winding technique has been frequently used for a large magnet because long HTS wire is generally difficult to manufacture, and maintenance of magnet is convenient. However, magnetic field generated by the slanted turns and the splice leads to field inhomogeneity in Diameter of Spherical Volume (DSV). The field inhomogeneity degrades performance of NMR spectrometer and thus effect of the slanted turns and the splice should be analyzed. In this paper, field gradient of HTS double-pancake coils considering the slanted turns and the splice was calculated using Biot-Savart law and numerical integration. The calculation results showed that magnetic field produced by the slanted turns and the splice caused significant inhomogeneity of field.

SMES용 전도냉각형 고온초전도 자석의 설계, 제작 및 평가 (Design, Fabrication and Evaluation of a Conduction Cooled HTS Magnet for SMES)

  • 본 논문은 초전도 에너지 저장장치(SMES)용 전도냉각형 고온초전도 자석의 설계, 제작 및 평가에 대해 기술한다. 고온초전도 자석은 황동 안정화재를 갖는 2개의 Bi-2223 다심 선재가 적층된 4-ply 도체로 제작된 22개의 double pancake coil(DPC)로 구성된다. 그리고, 각 DPC는 내경과 외경이 각각 500 mm, 691 mm이고 높이가 10 mm인 2개의 single solenoid coil로 구성된다. 코일 내부의 전기적 손실에 의해 발생된 열의 냉각을 위하여 DPC 사이에 두께 3 mm의 알루미늄 판이 내재된다. 고온초전도 자석은 2단 Gifford McMahon 냉동기에 의해 5.6 K까지 냉각된다. 충전전류가 증가할수록 방전시 고온초전도에서의 최대 온도가 증가 하였다. 충전전류가 360 A일 때 ��치 없이 고온초전도 자석에 1 MJ의 자기에너지가 성공적으로 저장되었다. 본 연구에서는 SMES용 전도 냉각형 고온초전도자석에 대한 열적, 전자기적 특성을 보이고, 본 연구를 통해 얻어진 결과는 전도냉각형 고온초전도자석의 최적설계 및 안정도 평가에 활용될 것이다.
