Analysis of Basic Characteristics for Providing Parking Information (주차정보제공을 위한 기초자료 분석연구)

  • The objective of this research is to establish the relationship between the important variables necessary for real-time available parking space presumption algorithm for a parking lot information provision. So it investigated the variables that come relate to the algorithm and collected parking information for an algorithm plan. It analyzed variables inciuding average number of parked cars, average parked time, rate of turnover, occupancy, cumulative number of parked cars, and etc. of the parking lot. And it collected data regarding illegal parking, double space parking, searching car and it presumed the number of available parking spaces. As a result of the research, It appeared that the achieved accuracy is superier to existing provision system which only take the total input and output numbers. This will help drivers' judgement, and also the parking lot operation and management.

A Study on an Omni-directional Mobile Robot for Moving a Double-parked Car (이중 주차된 차량 이동용 전방향 이동 로봇에 대한 연구)

  • Double parking is very common in a parking lot where there is not sufficient parking space. When we double-park a car, we leave transmission gear in neutral position and release the emergency brake so that the double-parked car can be moved just by pushing it. However, moving a double-parked car by pushing is very hard and dangerous especially for the old and the weak. So, we propose an omni-directional mobile robot for moving a double-parked car easily and safely. The developed omni-directional mobile robot moves a double-parked car by rotating a wheel of a double-parked car. It has two specially designed rollers to rotate a wheel of a double-parked car and is designed so that the height of the robot is very low to be able to enter beneath a double-parked car. It can move a double-parked car safely by detecting obstacles in the way with five ultrasonic sensors. We verified by several experiments that the developed omni-directional mobile robot can be used to move a double-parked car easily and safely.

  • In this paper, the problem of a double-parked car has been investigated and a method to solve it is studied. Double parking is very common in a public parking lot with insufficient parking space. If a double-parked car blocked the way, a person needs to push the double-parked car to move it. The problem is that moving a double-parked car with hands is very hard and dangerous, especially for the old and the weak. To solve the above mentioned problem, an automatic mover for a double-parked car is proposed and developed. The basic idea is that a double-parked car can be moved by rolling its one wheel. Two rollers are designed and manufactured, which are used to roll a wheel of a double-parked car. The developed automatic mover has two rollers, two driving wheels, and four castors. It also has several ultrasonic sensors so that it can detect obstacles in the way and prevent possible collision. It is verified through several experiments that the developed automatic mover can move a double-parked car safely and easily.
