A new laser Doppler velocimeter employing a $CO_2$ laser has been developed by using its photoacoustic effect. A change in the pressure of a discharge, induced by mixing of a returned wave with an originally existing wave inside the cavity, is employed to detect the Doppler frequency shift. We found that a Doppler frequency shift as small as 50 kHz was detected, and also a good linear relationship between the velocity and the Doppler frequency shift was obtained.

The maximum Doppler frequency, or equivalently, the mobile speed is very useful information to optimize the performance of many wireless communication systems. However, the performance of a maximum Doppler frequency estimator is limited since it requires an estimate of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the channel environment. In this paper, the improved method for the maximum Doppler frequency estimations based on the decision feedback Doppler adaptive band-limit (DF-DABL) method is proposed. To reduce the effect of additive noise, the proposed algorithm uses a novel Doppler adaptive band-limit (DABL) technique. The distortion due to the additive noise is drastically removed by the proposed DF-DABL method. Especially, the DF-DABL method does not need any other channel information such as SNR.

An Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) based wireless communication system has drawn wide attention for its high transmission rate and high spectrum efficiency in not only radio but also Underwater Acoustic (UWA) applications. Because of the narrow sub-carrier spacing of OFDM, orthogonality between sub-carriers is easily affected by Doppler effect caused by the movement of transmitter or receiver. Previously, Doppler compensation signal processing algorithm for Desired propagation path was proposed. However, other Doppler shifts caused by delayed Undesired signal arriving from different directions cannot be perfectly compensated. Then Receiver Bit Error Rate (BER) is degraded by Inter-Carrier-Interference (ICI) caused in the case of Multi-path Doppler channel. To mitigate the ICI effect, a modified Delay and Doppler Profiler (mDDP), which estimates not only attenuation, relative delay and Doppler shift but also sampling clock shift of each multi-path component, is proposed. Based on the outputs of mDDP, an ICI canceling multi-tap equalizer is also proposed. Computer simulated performances of one-tap equalizer with the conventional Time domain linear interpolated Channel Transfer Function (CTF) estimator, multi-tap equalizer based on mDDP are compared. According to the simulation results, BER improvement has been observed. Especially, in the condition of 16QAM modulation, transmitting vessel speed of 6m/s, two-path multipath channel with direct path and ocean surface reflection path; more than one order of magnitude BER reduction has been observed at CNR=30dB.

The flow direction in a glass tube is measured by using a forward scatering dual beam laser Doppler velocimeter with an acousto-optic modulator. We can determine the flow direction by measuring the shifted Doppler frequency which is dependent on the order of modulation of the laser frequency shifting moves only the Doppler signal, enabling complete separation of the Pedestal and Doppler singal.

Position determination accuracy is strongly depending on how much precisely and frequently satellite receiver measures transmitted signals from terminals on target animals when Doppler effect is applied for position determination. ARGOS satellite system has shown relatively high position determination accuracy by operating multiple satellites, which enable operator to get more Doppler shift data from terminals. In case of animal tracking mission with single satellite, however, it is difficult for the satellite receiver to receive transmitted signals from terminals frequently during short period that satellite passes over ground terminals. This is one of the main sources to decrease position accuracy on target animals. In this paper, the Doppler rate estimation is implemented to increase the number of Doppler shift data received by single satellite. It is proved that the relatively high position determination accuracy with increased number of estimated data can be obtained. We also suggest that the Doppler rate estimation is applicable for position determination system with single satellite.

This paper suggests an estimation method of the source signal and the channel impulse response (CIR) using ray-based blind deconvolution (RBD) in the underwater acoustic channel environment where Doppler effect exists by the relative motion between source and receiver. It is difficult to estimate the CIR on Doppler effect by the matched filter with a highly Doppler-sensitive waveform such as the m-sequence signal because Doppler shift can severely degrade the correlation between the received signal corrupted by Doppler effect and the original source signal. In this study, the Doppler-shifted source-signal's phase is estimated using the RBD, and the received signal is compensated by it to obtain the Doppler-corrected CIR. It is verified that using the matched filter with the received signal from the experimental data fails to estimate the CIR while the obtained CIR by the suggested method has the similarity to the propagation path of the ray model. Also, the results show that the reconstructed source signal using the RBD has the better Doppler shift compensation than the Doppler-shifted source signal derived from scattering function.

Because of directly receiving the thing in which a microwave is reflected and comparing the frequency, the microwave sensor with doppler effect completely overcomes the problem of the passive infrared sensor. The microwave sensor with doppler effect well operates about a temperature, the dust, and the peripheral noise because of being dull in the most of ambient conditions. The system developed in this research is the electricity saving detection sensor which it senses the real time action of a man as the microwave sensor and automatically turns on the electric lamp and turns off, minimizes the electrical energy consumption. Since the microwave sensor is not influenced in the light, the dust, and the natural element like the ambient temperature, the effectiveness is considered to be superior to the passive infrared sensor being used currently. There was the energy reduction effect more than about 60% in the performed example which established this system. When this was compared with the construction cost, the cost of establishing payback period was about 1-1.5 year. The microwave sensor with doppler effect developed from this research result is convinced in the future to do enough for the electric energy saving.
A Doppler radar is a radar using the doppler effect of the returned echoes from targets to measure their radial velocity. To be more specific the microwave signal sent by the radar antenna's directional beam is reflected toward the radar and compared in frequency, up or down from the original signal, allowing for the direct and highly accurate measurement of target velocity component in the direction of the beam. In this paper, we designed the doppler radar composed of 10.5 GHz band DROs(Dielectric Resonator Oscillator), $90^{\circ}C$ branch line coupler, single balanced mixer and $4{\times}4$ array antenna of high gain, high directivity, for non-contact type hydrometer. Fabricated Doppler radar can detect slow moving objects.
The ultrasound Doppler effect is used for measuring the velocity of the bloodflow in an artry. Because of the range information, the pulsed doppler system is most commonly used. In this paper, we propose a new pulsed doppler system which uses a quadrature sampling method in R.F. range in order to detect the bloodflow direction and to simplify the compexity of hardware. The pulsed doppler system using quadrature sampling method in R.F. range eliminates In-phase, Quadrature phase channel balancing problem at demodulator. In addition, the improved pulsed Doppler system shows the possibility of serial processing.
Ultrasound Doppler Diagnostic System utilizes the Doppler effect for measurement of blood velocity. The sign of the Doppler frequency shift represents blood flow direction. Pulsed Doppler System uses Phase detector and zerocrossing method to produce simultaneous independent audio and velocity signals for forward and reverse blood flow direction in the time domain, had been fabricated. But time-domain analyzing such as audio evaluation and zerocrossing detection for instantaneous and mean frequency measurement doesn't, provide both an accurate and quantitative result. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt frequency domain technique to improve system performance. In this paper, we describe a unit which is composed of Pulsed Doppler System and real-time spectrum analyzer (installed TMS 32010 DSP Chip). This unit shows time-dependent spectrum variation and mean velocity of blood Signal.
