팀 다양성이 지식창출에 미치는 영향에서 갈등과 흡수역량의 역할 (The Effect of Team Diversity on Knowledge Creation : with Conflict and Absorptive Capacity)

  • Considering how an organization is timely competitive for survival in the rapidly changing environment of today, it is more important to get new information and knowledge continuously by teams. However team system provides organization with opportunities and, at the same time, is provoked into conflict by the diversity of team members. This study examines the effect of team diversity on knowledge creation and investigates the influence of absorptive capacity and conflict as mediators. The sample population consisted of officials who work in teams at two business corporations that have successfully achieved knowledge creation. The result presents team diversity serves as an effective factor for absorptive capacity and absorptive capacity also serves as an effective factor for knowledge creation. In contrast, team diversity brings team members into conflict and conflict has a negative effect on knowledge creation. Another significant finding of this research is the fact that a positive effect of absorptive capacity on knowledge creation is greater than a negative effect of conflict on it. It clearly demonstrates that team diversity can be an important determinant of knowledge creation if an organization tries to reduce team member's conflict.

  • In this study, we suggest a new perspective on the linkage between alliance portfolio diversity and innovation performance based on a contingency approach. Using a longitudinal data set on alliance portfolios and patents of 182 firms in the U.S. manufacturing industries, we examined that alliance portfolio diversity has a U-shaped relationship with firm-level innovation. Internal value creation capabilities in terms of routine and ability are found to moderate the relationship between alliance portfolio diversity and innovation performance: Organizational search routine strengthens the relationship of alliance portfolio diversity and innovation performance while technological capabilities weaken and flip the relationship.

도시 자연복원을 위한 인공 습지 조성에 관한 연구

  • The objective of this study is to increase bio-diversity by developing more efficient methods to created habitats and applying them in introducing prototypes of forest, grassland, and marsh which are found in natural ecosystem, to urban environment. In this context, in creating man-made marsh in Seoul Engineering High School, firstly, philosophical framework to create man-made marsh to restore urban nature and conceptual system to create a region considering life and ecosystem were established. Secondly, by applying the philosophical framework and the conceptual system, water quality section, plantation section, and techniques to create habitats to increase bio-diversity were introduced. Lastly, when the creation is completed, maintenance of the marsh will continue with participation and education of students and residents. This study presents how natural environment can be restored and created in urban areas. This may be viewed as modest beginning. I expect this study proves to be effective in increasing bio-diversity, fulfill its role as an experiment station for restoration and creation of natural environment and natural educational center for students and community as well as habitats for wild life, and open a new chapter in developing a society seeking co-existence of humankind and life. Therefore, when technological guideline on restoration and creation of man-made marsh in urban area is developed based on the outcome of this study, expansion of the project to nationwide including metropolitan cities like Seoul is recommended.

집단지성 발현의 선행요인 검토 (An Examination of Preconditions for the Creation of Collective Intelligence)

  • 본 연구는 기존 연구들에서 언급된 집단지성 발현의 선행요인들을 검증함으로써 관련분야 발전에 기여하는 것을 연구 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 집단지성 발현의 선행요건으로 과업의 복잡성과 의미성, 다양성, 경험에 대한 개방성, 커뮤니케이션 독립성, 의사결정의 분권화, ICT(Information and Communication Technologies) 활용을 검토하였다. 연구가설 검증을 위해 연구개발 사업부에 속한 구성원을 대상으로 200부의 설문지를 배포하였고, 회수된 198부 중에서 불성실한 13개를 제외한 185개의 데이터를 최종 분석하였다. 분석결과, 과업의 의미성, 경험에 대한 개방성, 의사결정 분권화, ICT활용이 각각 집단지성 발현에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것을 확인하였다. 그리고 지각된 비유사성과 가치 다양성은 각각 집단지성 발현에 부정적인 영향을 미쳤으며, 모든 변수들을 함께 고려했을 때, ICT 활용, 과업의 의미, 경험에 대한 개방성, 인지된 비유사성과 가치 다양성 순서로 집단지성 발현에 영향을 미치는 것을 발견하였다. 본 연구결과의 이론 및 실무적 시사점은 토의부분에서 자세히 분석하였다.

간척지 습지 조성을 통한 생물다양성 회복 방안 제안 (Proposal of biodiversity recovery plan through the creation of reclaimed wetland)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the ecological impact of wetlands by changing the species diversity of benthic macroinvertebrates and birds following the creation of an artificial wetland with a size of 30 m*30 m on bare land in reclaimed land in Haenam-gun, Korea. We investigated monthly fauna of benthic macroinvertebrates and birds in and outside wetlands and physicochemical indicators for 7 months from March to September 2014. During the study period, the water temperature and dissolved oxygen levels were consistently higher in wetlands than lakes. Many species of benthic macroinvertebrates were observed in summer (16 species in July) due to seasonal effects, and the species diversity index was highest in July and then gradually decreased. Thirteen species of birds were observed in March, 6 species in April, 5 species in July, and 1 species in June, where most winter birds and migratory birds were observed around wetlands in spring. The species diversity index also decreased after being high in July except for spring. This suggests that the abiotic environment in the wetland can be improved by creating an artificial wetland in the reclaimed land, and the increase in benthic macroinvertebrates can ultimately be a basic direction to restore the wetland ecosystem in the reclaimed land.

SC-FDE 시스템에서의 다이버시티 기술 비교 (Comparisons on Diversity Techniques for SC-FDE Systems)

  • 본 논문에서는 채널이 시간 및 주파수에서 비선택적일 때를 가정하여 복수의 송신 안테나를 사용하는 SC-FDE(Single Carrier with Frequency Domain Equalization) 시스템에서 순환지연 다이버시티 기술과 위상 회전 기술의 성능을 비교한다. OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) 시스템에서는 위상 회전을 이용하여 시간축에서 변화하는 채널을 만드는 것과 순환지연 다이버시티를 사용하여 주파수 선택적 채널을 만드는 것은 유사한 성능을 보인다. 그러나 SC-FDE 시스템에서는 시간축에서 변화하는 채널을 만드는 것이 주파수축에서 변화하는 채널을 만드는 것보다 더 우수한 성능을 보일 수 있다.

과학기술계 출연연구기관의 지식창출 협력유형 분석에 관한 연구: 개방성과 다양성 중심으로 (A Study on the Collaboration Types of Knowledge Creation in Korean Government-supported Research Institutes of S&T: Focusing on Openness and Diversity)

  • 본 연구는 지식창출 협력유형을 개방성과 다양성 측면으로 분류하고 출연(연)별 지식창출 협력 경향과 특성을 분석하였다. 개방성은 외부의존성과 협력주도성을, 다양성은 협력다양성, 협력집중성 지표를 정량화하여 기관 및 국가 레벨로 하는 4가지 분류모형을 제시하였다. 데이터는 26개 과학기술계 출연(연)의 연구자가 포함된 SCOUPS DB의 39,507편의 논문을 대상으로 하였다. 분석결과, 개방성 측면의 기관 레벨에서는 출연(연)이 연구를 주도하기 보다 연구에 참여하는 형태로 다수의 외부기관과 협력하는 "다자간협력참여형" 유형으로, 국가 레벨에서는 다수의 기관이 "국외다수기관협력형"으로 분류되었다. 다양성 측면의 기관 레벨에서는 소수 혹은 특정기관에 집중되는 "편식협력형" 혹은 "단식협력형" 유형으로, 국가 레벨에서는 다수의 출연(연)이 "다수국가참여 특정국가집중형" 혹은 "소수국가참여 특정국가집중형" 유형에 집중되었다. 출연(연)이 경쟁력을 갖춘 지식을 창출하는 기관으로 성장하기 위해서는 외부조직과 협력을 하되, 연구를 주도하는 전략 혹은 연구생산성을 확보한 독자적 연구기관으로 전환해 나가는 전략이 필요하다.

도심내 생태수목원 조성기법에 관한 연구 -대전광역시를 사례로- (A Study on Creation Method of Ecological Arboretum as Wildlife Habitat in Urban Area -A case study of Daejon Metropolitan City-)

  • This is a study on how to create an ecological arboretum that would promote biodiversity by creating wild animal habitats in terms of using large-scale remnants in urban areas and that would serve as a field for environment education based on its locational feature of being an urban area and its accessibility. This study is significant in a sense that this is the first arboretum to be created in urban area. However, it has a couple of limitations and they are as follows. First, since an arboretum creation plan is a mid/long-term plan, it is difficult to verify the biodiversity promotion effect of the application of habitats and creation techniques. Second, as the space was created by considering ecological features and utilizing natural prototype, the diversity of forest trees in here is lower than that of a traditional arboretum.

A Single Identity while Facing Diversity? Exploring ASEAN Integration through Culture

  • Since the creation of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 1967, the main objective of creating a "prosperous and peaceful community of Southeast Asian Nations" through regional integration remains slow. While the aims and purposes of the ASEAN include accelerating, promoting active collaboration and mutual assistance on matters concerning culture and cultural development, the desired ASEAN Integration through culture is still in question. As a multicultural region, the richness and diversity of cultures constitute both prospects and challenges. This paper discusses 1) the concept of integration vis-a-vis the ASEAN; 2) the ASEAN's goals, policies, and initiatives, concerning culture as stipulated in the key documents of ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community-Culture and Arts sector; and 3) the ASEAN identity and community vis-a-vis culture. In the end, this paper proposes a framework on the ASEAN integration through culture in the context of a single identity amidst cultural diversity.

A comparative study between countries on gender diversity, openness and innovation

  • Purpose - Diversity subject is rising globally, as the proportion of women in the workforce increased to a large extent and the variety of resources became greater. Diversity attempts have appealed more awareness to the value of female participation in various areas, notably in the boardroom and corporate governance. This study tests the relationships among gender diversity, openness, and innovation, at the firm level across countries from the MOI Survey. Research design, data, and methodology - In this study the relationships among gender diversity, openness, and innovation were investigated at the firm level across countries from the Management, Organisation, and Innovation (MOI) Survey. A cross-cultural analysis was conducted based on the empirical evidence from six countries: Germany, India, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, and Russia. Result - The results show that gender diversity is positively related to innovation performance, moreover openness is positively associated with the level of firm innovation. In addition, a company's capability to use knowledge from outside and the creation of new combinations positively influence a firm's potential to innovate. Conclusion - This study suggests that the more gender-diverse top management team and the higher openness may bring the firm's innovation with greater possibility. the paper encourages more female participation on top management on the grounds of recommending that firms with greater gender diverse top management teams.
