  • A real time process control package was developed in an INTEL 80386 based PC and MS OS/2 environment using MS-C and MS-FORTRAN. RTACS(Real Time Advanced Control System), process control computer software for distributed or centralized architectures, is a package which meets functional requirements specified for typical continuous process applications like chemical processes. The package consists of 5 parts, which are DB(data base), OCF(Operator Console Functions), CL (Control logic Library), MSM(Multitasking and Scheduling, Manager) and UAI(User Applications Interface), based upon a table and function block architecture to improve the system performance.

  • Aspects of modelling, performance monitoring, control and optimisation are discussed, with particular reference to the application of SPEEDUP. A new facility is described which allows SPEEDUP to operate in conjunction with other systems and several examples are briefly given of its power and flexibility. In particular, its use in on-line applications alongside plant management and distributed control systems is described and how it can be used in scheduling/sequencing problems in investigating batch and cyclic problems.

  • The objective of this study was to see how artificial intelligence applications affected organizational innovation in Jordanian commercial banks. Both independent and dependent variables were measured in three dimensions: expert systems, neural network systems, and fuzzy logic systems for artificial intelligence applications variable. Product innovation, process innovation, and management innovation for the organizational innovation variable. To achieve study objectives, a questionnaire was developed and distributed to a sample of one hundred fifty-three managers in Jordanian commercial banks, who were selected according to the simple random sampling method. Except for the neural network systems dimension, which comes in at an average level, the study indicated that there is a high level of organizational innovation and artificial intelligence applications. Furthermore, the findings revealed that artificial intelligence applications have a significant impact on organizational innovation in Jordanian commercial banks, with the most important artificial intelligence application being a fuzzy logic system. The study suggested keeping track of technological advancements in the field of artificial intelligence applications and incorporating them into banking operations by benchmarking with the best commercial bank practices and allocating a portion of the budget to technological applications and infrastructure development, as well as balancing between technology use and information security risks to ensure client privacy is protected.

  • As the power of influence of the Internet grows steadily, attacks against the Internet can cause enormous monetary damages nowadays. A worm can not only replicate itself like a virus but also propagate itself across the Internet. So it infects vulnerable hosts in the Internet and then downgrades the overall performance of the Internet or makes the Internet not to work. To response this, worm detection and prevention technologies are developed. The worm detection technologies are classified into two categories, host based detection and network based detection. Host based detection methods are a method which checks the files that worms make, a method which checks the integrity of the file systems and so on. Network based detection methods are a misuse detection method which compares traffic payloads with worm signatures and anomaly detection methods which check inbound/outbound scan rates, ICMP host/port unreachable message rates, and TCP RST packet rates. However, single detection methods like the aforementioned can't response worms' attacks effectively because worms attack the Internet in the distributed fashion. In this paper, we propose a design of distributed worm detection system to overcome the inefficiency. Existing distributed network intrusion detection systems cooperate with each other only with their own information. Unlike this, in our proposed system, a worm detection system on a network in which worms select targets and a worm detection system on a network in which worms propagate themselves cooperate with each other with the direction-aware information in terms of worm's lifecycle. The direction-aware information includes the moving direction of worms and the service port attacked by worms. In this way, we can not only reduce false positive rate of the system but also prevent worms from propagating themselves across the Internet through dispersing the confirmed worm signature.

  • The performance of mobile devices and wireless networks is improved rapidly and Mobility management skills such as Mobile IP and ad-hoc technology were developed. So the requirement of processing the distributed computing is highly increased in any place and any time or in the state of movement. Therefore we studied the mobile grid system to process the distributed applications properly in wireless networks. In addition to typical computational resources, Mobile Grid brings new resources such as sensor, mobile devices or other wireless devices to distributed computing for the purpose of resource-sharing. In this paper, we design and implement the mobile grid system in wireless lan network environment for the providing the grid service. Also, we evaluate the performance of mobile grid system using the processing the distributed applications in implemented mobile grid environments.

  • In this paper, we present a case study for a drug repositioning simulation based on distributed supercomputing technology that requires highly efficient processing of large-scale computations. Drug repositioning is the application of known drugs and compounds to new indications (i.e., new diseases), and this process requires efficient processing of a large number of docking tasks with relatively short per-task execution times. This mechanism shows the main characteristics of a Many-Task Computing (MTC) application, and as a representative case of MTC applications, we have applied a drug repositioning simulation in our HTCaaS system which can leverage distributed supercomputing infrastructure, and show that efficient task dispatching, dynamic resource allocation and load balancing, reliability, and seamless integration of multiple computing resources are crucial to support these challenging scientific applications.

  • For efficiently providing distributed services, distributed computing environments are specified the requirements of various services and distributed object platforms applied an object-oriented technology by TINA Consortium and OMG CORBA. Because applications are becoming large and distributing, their servicing and managing interfaces among objects are being complicated. In order to solve these defects, it is necessary to suggest a new object grouping model and specify object service/management requirements can be introduced under the object groups.

  • In recent years, we have seen a proliferation of mobile-network-enabled smart objects, such as smart-phones and smart-watches, that form a cyber-physical integrated network to connect the cyber and physical worlds through the capabilities of sensing, communicating, and computing. Discovery of the relationship between smart objects is a critical and nontrivial task in cyber-physical integrated network applications. Aiming to find the most stable relationship in the heterogeneous and dynamic cyber-physical network, we propose a distributed and efficient relationship-discovery algorithm, called dynamically maximizing remaining unchanged time with minimum connected dominant set (DMRUT-MCDS) for constructing a backbone with the smallest scale infrastructure. In our proposed algorithm, the impact of the duration of the relationship is considered in order to balance the size and sustain time of the infrastructure. The performance of our algorithm is studied through extensive simulations and the results show that DMRUT-MCDS performs well in different distribution networks.

  • This paper presents a shared data decomposition model for improving concurrency in multi-user, distributed software developments. In our model, the target software system is decomposed into the independent components based on project roles to be distributed over clients. The distributed components are decomposed into view objects and core objects to replicate only view objects in a distributed collaboration session. The core objects are kept in only one client and the locking is used to prevent inconsistencies. The grain size of a lock is a role instead of a class which is commonly used as the locking granularity in the existing systems. The experimental result shows that our model reduces response time by 12${\sim}$18% and gives good scalability.
