Characteristics of Turbulent Nonpremixed Jet Flame in Cross Air Flow (주유동에 수직으로 분사되는 난류 비예혼합 분류 화염의 특성)

  • An experimental study on the characteristics of stability of propane turbulent nonpremixed jet flames discharged normal to air free-streams with uniform velocity profile is conducted. Experimental observations are focused on the flame shape, the stability considering two kinds of flame, lift-off distance, and the flame length according to velocity ratio. In order to investigate the mixing structure of the flame base at the lower limit, we employ the RMS technique and measure the species concentration by a gas chromatography. In the results of the stability curve and lifted flame, it is fecund that the dependency of nozzle diameter is closely related to the large-scale vortical structure representing counter-rotating vortices pair. Also, the detailed discussion on the phenomenon of blowout due to this large vortical motion, is provided.

  • 한국어에서의 명사구 색인을 위한 기존의 방법들은 주로 간단한 규칙을 이용하여 왔고 그 결과 문장에 존재하는 모든 명사구를 추출하지 못했다. 이를 해결하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 개념 기반 명사구 색인 방법을 제안한다. 하나의 문장은 하나 이상의 개념으로 이루어져 있으므로, 명사구 추출은 개념을 고려하여 이루어져야 바람직하다 문장은 구문적으로 하나 이상의 내포문으로 이루어져 있다. 일반적으로 내포문 단위 내의 용어들이 나타내는 각각의 개념들은 서로 높은 연관성을 가진다. 그러므로 문장이 가지는 개념의 상이성을 내포문의 개념 상이성으로 축소할 수 있다. 문장을 내포문 단위로 분할하기 위하여 의존 문법을 기반한 구문분석과 공기정보를 이용한다. 특히 공기정보는 원거리 의존관계(long distance dependency)를 결정하여 한 내포문에 속함을 밝혀내는 데 도움을 준다. 이러한 내포문 내의 의존관계를 이용하여 명사구를 추출한다.

  • We proved the feasibiltiy of a parallel optical interconnection technique using single GRIN (graded-index) rod lens as an intermediate coupling device, which increases the working distance and makes packaging easy. The proposed technique shows relatively less dependency on misalignments. In this paper, for convensience of experiments, we applied this method to 4-channel coupling between two fiber arrays, and compared it with butt-coupling and the method of using ball lens. The comparison shows the feasibility of adopting the proposed method to the parallel interconnection between a laser diode array and an optical fiber array.

  • In this paper A new theory of linear loop transformation called Elimination of Data Dependency(BDD) is presented. The current framework of linear loop transformation cannot identify a significant fraction of parallelism. For this reason, a method to extract the maximum loop parallelism in perfect nested loops is presented. This technique is applicable to general loop nests where the dependence include both distance and directions.

  • Increasing the solvent molecular size leads to shrinkage of the polymer chains and increase of the critical overlap concentrations. In addition, the dependency of $R_{g}$ on polymer concentration under normal solvent conditions and solvent molecular size is in good agreement with scaling laws. When the solvent molecular size approaches the ideal end-to-end distance of the polymer chain, an extra aggregation of polymer chains occurs, and the solvent becomes the so-called medium-sized solvent. When the size of solvent molecules is smaller than the medium size, the polymer chains are swollen or partially swollen. However, when the size of solvent molecules is larger than the medium size, the polymer coils shrink and segregate, enwrapped by the large solvent molecules.

  • Prototype based methods are commonly used in cluster analysis and the results may be highly dependent on the prototype used. In this paper, we propose a fuzzy clustering method that involves adaptively expanding convex polytopes. Thus, the dependency on the use of prototypes can be eliminated. The proposed method makes it possible to effectively represent an arbitrarily distributed data set without a priori knowledge of the number of clusters in the data set. Specifically, nonlinear membership functions are utilized to determine whether a new cluster is created or which vertex of the cluster should be expanded. For this, the membership function of a new vertex is assigned according to not only a distance measure between an incoming pattern vector and a current vertex, but also the amount how much the current vertex has been modified. Therefore, cluster expansion can be only allowed for one cluster per incoming pattern. Several experimental results are given to show the validity of our mehtod.

Dynamic Adjustment of Hello and Hold Timer in AODV Routing Protocol

  • Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) protocol and its variants employ two important timers, hello and hold timer to keep track of topology changes. Moreover, hold timer is computed by multiplying constant value to hello timer. But, this configuration leads to inaccurate settings of hold timer. To solve this problem, in this paper, we propose a new dynamic adjustment of hello and hold timer scheme by removing dependency between them. A new metric to measure mobility is applied into hello timer, while expected link lifetime does holder timer. Simulation results show a significant reduction in the number of messages, a fact suggesting that it is possible to maintain and in some cases improve the performance of AODV with a minimum amount of messages released into the network.

  • Nano-scratch tests were performed on PMMA thin films spin-coated on a Si substrate using an atomic force microscopy (AFM) with loads ranging form 10nN to 100nN. At low loads, a ridge pattern was formed on the PMMA thin film surface. No wear particles were observed during the pattern-forming mild wear. At high loads, severe wear by plowing occurred, accompanied by wear particles. The film with the highest hardness showed the highest wear resistance. Friction force generated during the scratching was measured, which was closely related with surface deformation of the film. A simple empirical equation to deduce scratch hardness of the film from a linear fixed-distance scratch test was proposed, and scratching-speed dependency of the scratch hardness was displayed.

  • In this paper, a simple parallel compiler using of Parafrase II is presented. This is a new general method the extracting parallelism in order to parallel processing effectively in nested loop. For this, the source program of Parafrase II parallel compiler is analyzed and implemented. Moreover, this method can be applicable where the dependency relation is both uniform and non-uniform in distance.

  • Knowledge of camera parameters, such as position, orientation and focal length, is essential to 3D information recovery or virtual object insertion. This paper analyzes the error sensitivity of focal length due to position error of feature points which are employed for self-calibration. We verify the dependency of the focal length on the distance from the principal point to feature points with simulations, and propose a criterion for feature selection to reduce the error sensitivity.
