  • Calculations for the dissolution behavior of liquid CO2 droplets released in the East Sea and the Clipperton Clarion from a moving ship and a fixed pipeline have been carried out in order to estimate the CO2 dissolution characteristics in the ocean. The results show that the injection of liquid CO2 from a moving ship in a high temperature point is an effective method for dissolution. Also, it is noted that the ultimate plume generated from CO2 bubbles repeatsand shrinking due to the peeling from a fixed pipeline, and the presence of hydrate layer on a liquid CO2 droplet acts as a resistant layer in dissolving liquid CO2.

  • Antacid granules were prepared by agglomeration and powder method in high speed agitation type granulator. The copmositions of the test antacids were sodium bicarbonate nad magnesium carbonate nad a coating material was powder of polyvinylacetal diethyl-aminocacetate (AEA) and an additive material was talc powder. The dissolution characteristics of base from the antacid granules were investigated to evaluate neutralization capacity of hydrochloric profile of base and neutralization behavior, the following results were obtained : The prepared granules showed a pH-dependent dissolution pattern of a base. The dissolution profile of a base was varied with addition of talc powder as well as coating amount of AEA. The relationship between the ratio of dissolution retarded time for 20% and 10% AEA. The relationship between the ratio of dissolution retarded time for 20% AEA coated granules $\theta_{20}/\theta_{10}$ and the diameter reduction of the granules was explained by the rate process of neutralization of hydrochloric acid.

  • The solubility, the surface concentration and the dissolution behavior of carbon dioxide in deep sea were numerically investigated. Base on the calculations the relations between the surface concentration of liquid carbon dioxide droplet with the hydrate film and the solubility and those between the ambient carbon dioxide concentration in the plume and the dissolution rate were obtained. The result show that a carbon dioxide droplet is released both at 1000 m in depth with the initial droplet diameter of 0.011 m or less and at 1500 m in depth with a diameter of 0.015 m or less, and the droplet is completely dissolved below 500 m in depth. The hydrate film acts as a resistant layer for the dissolution of liquid carbon dioxide, and the effect of the hydrate film on the dissolution of liquid carbon dioxide depended upon the depth.

  • Effects of passive film quality by chemical passivation and solution flow on the corrosion behavior of 304 stainless steel in HCl solution were investigated using a coloration indicator, and by corrosion weight loss, electrochemical polarization and element dissolution measurements. A high redness degree suggests a low passive-film integrity for 304 stainless steel following air exposure, while the minimum redness degree for the samples after chemical passivation suggests a high passive-film integrity. In the static condition, samples subjected to air exposure exhibited a high corrosion rate and preferential dissolution of Fe. Chemical passivation inhibited the corrosion rate due to the intrinsically high structural integrity of the passive film and high concentrations of Cr-rich oxides and hydroxide. Solution flow accelerated corrosion by promoting both the anodic dissolution reaction and the cathodic reaction. Solution flow also altered the preferential dissolution to fast uniform dissolution of metal elements.

  • Water-soluble phosphate glasses containing Ag and Cu ion were prepared through melting process. Dis-solution characteristics, bactericidal effect and cytotoxicity were investigated with composition and time in D. I. water using the powdered sample. Surface change were observed with increasing dissolution time us-ing the bulk specimen. Dissolution amount was maximum at the molar Ag:Cu ratio of 1 and increased with increasing time. The behavior of dissolution was total dissolution from the early stage. But no new layer was observed at the glass surface during dissolution. The bactericidal effect for pseudomonas sp, e. coli, sta-phylococcus aureus, and salmonella increased with increasing dissolution amount and therefore great bac-tericidal effect appeared. The result of cytotoxicity experiment to L929 showed that solution with more than 10 ppm of Ag ion had strong cytotoxicity.

  • In this study, we demonstrated the release behavior of carvedilol with the content of polyvinylpyrrolidone K-30 (PVP K-30) and the effect of citric acid and fumaric acid as acidifiers on the release behavior of drug. In addition, it tries to inquire into the release behavior difference of the carvedilol according to the manufacturing method. The release behavior of the tablets was compared with Dilatrand$^{(R)}$ in the simulated gastric fluid (pH1.2). Differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) were characterized for the physicochemical properties of the tablets. In case of mixing the carvedilol and PVP K-30, in case the ratio of the carvedilol and PVP K-30 was 1:5, the release behavior was the highest among. As well as the dissolution rate of tablets manufactured by lyophilization and rotary evaporator was higher than physical mixture. The dissolution rate of containing acidifiers was more improved. But, rather the excessive amount of the acidifier addition reduced the dissolution rate.

  • Since PVDF/poly(1,4-butylene adipate) blend shows much lower LCST curve compared with PVDF/PMMA blend, the PVDF/PBA blend can be a good candidate for investigating the effect of the electric field on the phase separation and dissolution behavior of an electro-active polymer and electro-inactive polymer blend. • In order to assess the susceptibility of the environmentally assisted cracking(EAC) on SA508 Cl.3 steel in primary water condition, potential step test and slow strain rate test(SSRT) were conducted in a simulated crack tip condition. In this test, anodic dissolution was dominant in the crack tip environments. Proposed simple dissolution model is a modification of Hishida's anodic dissolution model at the plastic zone. One can predict actual crack growth rate with the smooth specimen through this model.

  • For microelectronic packaging application, the crystallizable glass powder in CaO-$A1_2O_3-SiO_2-B_2O_3$system was mixed with various amounts of alumina inclusions (\approx 4 $\mu \textrm{m}$), and its sintering behavior, crystallization behavior, and dielectric constant were examined in terms of vol% of alumina and the reaction between the alumina and the glass. Sintering of the CASB glass powder alone at $900^{\circ}C$ resulted in full densification (99.5%). Sintering of alumina-filled composite at $900^{\circ}C$ also resulted in a substantial denslfication higher than 97% of theoretical density, In this case, the maximum volume percent of alumina should be less than 40%. XRD analysis revealed that there was a partial dissolution of alumina into the glass. This alumina dissolution, however, did not show the particle growth and shape accommodation. Therefore, the sintering of both the pure glans and the alumina-filled composite was mainly achieved by the viscous flow and the redistribution of the glass. Alumina dissolution accelerated the crystallization initiation time at $1000^{\circ}C$ and hindered the densification of the glass. Dielectric constants of both the alumina-filled glass and the glass-ceramic composites were increased with increasing alumina content and followed rule of mixture. In case of the glass-ceramic matrix composites showed relatively lower dielectric constant than the glass matrix composite. Furthermore, as alumina content increased, crystallization behavior of the glass was changed due to the reaction between the glass and the alumina. As alumina reacted with the glass matrix, the major crystallized phase was shifted from wollastonite to gehlenite. In this system, alumina dissolution strongly depended on the particle size: When the particle size of alumina was increased to 15 $\mu\textrm{m}$, no sign of dissolution was observed and the major crystallized phase was wollastonite.
