Analytical solutions for the forced convection heat transfer of viscoelastic fluids obeying the Giesekus model are obtained in a concentric annulus under laminar flow for both thermal and hydrodynamic fully developed conditions. Boundary conditions are assumed to be (a) constant fluxes at the walls and (b) constant temperature at the walls. Temperature profiles and Nusselt numbers are derived from dimensionless energy equation. Subsequently, effects of elasticity, mobility parameter and viscous dissipation are discussed. Results show that by increasing elasticity, Nusselt number increases. However, this trend is reversed for constant wall temperature when viscous dissipation is weak. By increasing viscous dissipation, the Nusselt number decreases for the constant flux and increases for the constant wall temperature. For the wall cooling case, when the viscous dissipation exceeds a critical value, the generated heat overcomes the heat which is removed at the walls, and fluid heats up longitudinally.
Wave energy dissipation and energy transfer between wave components, during the directional wave breakings, are investigated. Directional incipient and plunging breakers were generated by focusing the multi-frequency and multi-directional wave components at a designed location, based on a constant wave amplitude and a constant wave steepness frequency spectrum. The time series of surface wave elevation was measured at 9 different locations around the wave focusing point, using a wave gauge array. In order to examine the variation of the directional spreading function, the horizontal velocity of fluid motion was also measured. By comparing energy spectrums, before and after the breaking, the characteristics of energy dissipation and energy transfer, caused by wave breaking, are investigated. Their dependencies on directionality, as well as frequency, are analyzed. The breakings significantly dissipate wave energy, through energy transfer, in the upper region of the peak-frequency band, while enhancing wave energy in the low-frequency band.
Oxides of the form Mn$_{4}$/O$_{4}$-CuO-Co$_{3}$/O$_{4}$-NiO-ZnO present properties that make them useful as power NTC thermistor for current limited. Electrical properties of Mn$_{3}$/O$_{4}$-CuO-Co$_{3}$/O$_{4}$-CuO-Co$_{3}$/O$_{4}$-NiO-ZnO power NTC thermistor such as I-V characteristics tim constant activation energy and heat dissipation coefficient measured as a function of temperature and composition. In Mn$_{4}$/O$_{4}$-CuO-Co$_{3}$/O$_{4}$-NiO-ZnO system with the 5wt% addition of Co$_{3}$/O$_{4}$ it can be seen that resistivity and B-constant were increased as the ratio of ZnO/Mn$_{3}$/O$_{4}$ was increased. Heat dissipation constant, I-V characteristics and time constant showed similar behaviour compared with those of conventional thermistors. In particular resistance change ratio ($\Delta$R) the important factor for reliability varied within $\pm$5% indicating the compositions of these products could be available for power thermistor.
An adaptive nonlinear artificial dissipation model is presented for performing aeroacoustic computations by the high-order and high-resolution numerical schemes based on the central finite differences. An effective formalism of it is devised by combining a selective background smoothing term and a well-established nonlinear shock-capturing term which is for the temporal accuracy as well as the numerical stability. A conservative form of the selective background smoothing term is presented to keep accurate phase speeds of the propagating nonlinear waves. The nonlinear shock-capturing term that has been modeled by the second-order derivative term is combined with it to improve the resolution of discontinuities and stabilize the strong nonlinear waves. It is shown that the improved artificial dissipation model with an adaptive control constant which is independent of problem types reproduces the correct profiles and speeds of nonlinear waves, suppresses numerical oscillations near discontinuity and avoids unnecessary damping on the smooth linear acoustic waves. The feasibility and performance of the adaptive nonlinear artificial dissipation model are investigated by the applications to actual computational aeroacoustics problems.
BACKGROUND: This study was performed to evaluate the residue dissipation of boscalid and spinetoram on crown daisy and sweet pepper affected by the morphology of the crop. The half-lives and dissipation rate constants for boscalid and spinetoram on crown daisy and sweet pepper were calculated. And then lower limit of 95% confidence interval for dissipation rate constant could be used to propose the pre-harvest residue limit. METHODS AND RESULTS: The pesticide products diluted according to the pesticide label were applied one time on crown daisy and sweet pepper at 2 field sites, respectively. Initial concentration of boscalid and spinetoram on crown daisy after application were in the range of 72.80~117.15 mg/kg and 2.82~4.67 mg/kg, respectively. And Initial concentration of boscalid and spinetoram on sweet pepper were in the range of 1.58~1.62 mg/kg and 0.10~0.21 mg/kg, respectively. Boscalid and spinetoram for crown daisy dissipted below the maximum residue limit(MRL) at 10 and 2 days after application, respectively. All residues concentration of boscalid and spinetoram for sweet pepper below the MRL at 0 day after application. The half-lives based on dissipation rate constant for boscalid and spinetoram on crown daisy were 4.2~4.9 days and 3.0~2.4 days respectively. And the half-lives for boscalid and spinetoram on sweet pepper were 6.7~7.0 days and 2.8~4.0 days respectively. CONCLUSION: The difference in initial concentration of boscalid and spinetoram among crop commodities were due to different crop morphology with larger surface areas. This study was suggested that pre-harvest residue limit would be calculated from lower limit of 95% confidence interval for dissipation rate constant and would be useful to protect consumers by controlling the pesticide residues in crop.
The sintering and electrical properties of YMnO3 bulk ceramics were investigated with Y/Mn ratios(Mn rich ;0.80/1.20, 0.90/1.10, 0.95/1.05, and Y rich ; 1.00/1.00, 1.05/0.95, 1.10/0.90). The crystal structure of samples showed a hexagonal structure, and the sample of Y/Mn = 0.95/1.05 indicated higher c-axis oriented peak than other samples. In the case of Mn rich samples, the grain sizes were about 7.8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and they showed 95% of theoretical density. Whereas, in the case of Y rich samples, the grain sizes were about 2.3${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and they showed 86%. The dielectric constant and dissipation factor of the Mn rich samples were smaller than those of the Y rich samples. The samples of Y/Mn = 0.90/1.10 showed the lowest a dissipation factor, and their dielectric constant, dissipation factor and Curie temperature were 36, 0.0136 and 68$0^{\circ}C$, respectively.
This paper presents the electrical properties of PTFE nozzle for a electrical apparatus. In the arcing environment in a electrical apparatus, radiation is considered to be the major energy transport mechanism from the arc to the wall. The fraction of the radiation power is emitted out of the arc and reaches the nozzle wall, causing ablation at the surface and in the depth of the wall. The energy concentration in the material leads to the depolymerization and eventually leads to the generation of decomposed gas as well as some isolated carbon particles. Adding some fillers into PTFE is expected to be efficient for improving the endurability against radiation. In this experiment, three kinds of fillers that have endurance in the high temperature environment were added into PTFE. Light reflectance of fillers was investigated. Dielectric constan and dissipation factor of PTFE composites were investigated. Dielectric constant and dissipation factor of the PTFE composites increased with increasing contents of the fillers.
A Modified equivalent circuit by combining a series and parallel of polymer matrix for estimating the dielectric constant ${\bar{K}}_{33}$ values changing the volume percent of $PbTiO_3$, the dependences of frequency for the 713 and dissipation factor for 0 - 3 composites was derived. The difference of the dielectric constant and dissipation factor between the calculated and measured values became smaller at higher volume percent of $PbTiO_3$. There was, good agreement between the calculated and observed results for 70 volume percent of $PbTiO_3$ and 30 volume percent of Eccogel composite at 1(KHz), 25($^{\circ}C$). The optimized variable x was 0.94 in $PbTiO_3$ ceramics. $PbTiO_3$ powder and Eccogel polymer were used as piezoelectric fillers and matrix, respectively.
