Flat Panel Display를 위한 구동방식 및 구동회로

  • 각 분야에서 고화질 고해상도의 Flat Panel Display(FPD)에 대한 요구가 급증하고 있으며, FPD 소자들도 다양하다. FPD를 위한 구동방식은 근본적으로 matrix addroessing 방식을 사용하지만 FPD 소자의 동작 원리, 특성, 구동상의 문제점 등에 따라서 구동방식도 매우 다양하다. 다양한 FPD 소자들이 구동 방식과 구동회로를 다 살펴볼 수 없으므로 본고에서는 FPD소자인 PDP, EL, LED, EC, LCD, DMD, AMA, GLV, FED 등의 동작 원리를 설명하고, 이 소자들 중에서 AMLCD와 dc-PDP 소자의 구동방식과 구동회로에 대하여 논의한다. AMLCD의 구동방식으로는 펄스 구동 방식과 용량 구동 방식을 살펴보고, AMLCD의 문제점들을 극복할 수 있는 방법들을 설명한다. dc-PDP의 구동 방법인 pulse-memory 구동방식과 새로운 pulse-memory 구동 방식을 살펴보았다.

  • We developed new FED cathode film material that has catalysis function for graphite nano fiber. Using the cathode film with catalyst, we can simplify the FED process. It is composed of Cr, Fe-Ni catalyst. Fabricating FED panel with the film, we confirmed good emission performance of the panel.

  • The WV film successfully enlarged the field of view of the TN mode and made TN popular for larger size applications such as PC monitors. The hybrid alignment of the PDM (polymerized discotic material) layer is also suited for the OCB mode, which is promising as a nextgeneration LCD-TV because of fast panel response and a wide viewing angle. This paper describes recent technological progress in WV films, especially for OCB.

  • A 262K-color QVGA LTPS AMLCD was developed. This panel has integrated gate driver and data multiplexer (1:3) by p_Si LTPS TFT process. The commercialized driver IC was adopted to implement this display. Fine image quality, low powerconsumption and cost-efficiency feature make the panel be suitable for mobile application.

  • This paper proposes a non-contact color inspection system for plasma display panel (PDP). The red, green, and blue test pattern images are acquired by using the area color CCD camera at the various distance from the PDP. The RGB values are obtained from the region of interest (ROI) which are extracted by applying the image processing to the test pattern image. Finally, the CIE xy and u'v' chromaticity coordinates of the test pattern images according to the distance are acquired from the RGB color coordinates.

  • This paper reports the optimal gas mixing ratio for color plasma display panel to improve luminous efficiency using gas dischage simulation which contains energy equation. We verified a simulation by measuring vacuum ultraviolet. The luminous efficiency has improved considerably(about 30%) by adding Ar (0.5%), compared with Ne-Xe(4%) mixing gas.

  • In this paper, we showed the erosion characteristics of MgO protector layer releated to lifetime of plasma display panel(PDP). We observed MgO erosion characteristic as a functions of deposition conditions. In RIE condition of Xe gas, the lowest erosion rate appears in the conditions of no heating, bias voltage -30V and pressure 5mtorr. In general. as deposition rate increases, erosion rate decreases.

  • Optical architecture and experimental results on low cost multiview autostereoscopic projection display are presented. The display, containing only one high resolution projection panel and only one projection lens is capable of displaying multiview autostereoscopic images. Key components, applied in the display are segmented mirror for splitting the projection beam and one-dimensional diffuser with slanted axis of diffusion for viewing zone formation. Image distortions, inherent in the display have been compensated with opposite sign pre-distortion of projected perspective images.
