기하학적 텍스쳐 정보를 이용한 금속 패드 변색영상 분류 알고리즘 (Metal pad Discolored Image Classification Algorithm using Geometric Texture Information)

  • This paper presents a method of classifying discolored defects of metal pads using geometric texture for AFVI (Automated Final Vision Inspection) systems. In PCB manufacturing process, the metal pads on PCB can be oxidized and discolored partly due to various environmental factors. Nowadays the discolored defects are manually detected and rejected from the process. This paper proposes an efficient geometric texture feature, SUTF (Symmetry and Uniformity Texture Feature) based on the symmetric and uniform textural characteristics of the surface of circular metal pads for automating AFVI systems. In practical experiments with real samples acquired from a production line, 30 discolored images and 1232 roughness images are tested. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method using SUTFs provides better performance compared to Gabor feature with 0% FNR (False Negative Rate) and 1.46% FPR (False Positive Rate). The performance of the proposed method shows its applicability in the real manufacturing systems.

RGB영상의 독립성분분석을 이용한 건고추영상 분류 (Dried pepper sorting using independent component analysis on RGB images)

  • 고추는 건조과정에서 부패되거나 색이변하는 경우가 발생하므로 건고추 품질을 높이기위해서는 건고추를 선별 할 수 있는 기법이 필요하다. 독립성분분석은 블라인드소스분리에서 가장 널리 사용되는 방법으로 이 기법을 사용하여 건조시킨 고추 영상에서 가장 중요한 성분에 대한 농축영상을 얻는다. 취득한 농축영상은 일반 이진(BW) 영상과 달리 주요 성분만 반영한 것으로 영상의 주요 성분 분포 상태를 알 수 있으며 품질을 판단하여 선별하는 것이 가능하다. 또한, 추출된 농축영상의 크기는 고추의 매운 맛을 내는 주요 성분인 캡사이신류의 양과 관련성이 있음을 알 수 있다. ICA 독립성분을 기반으로 한 농축영상 추출을 통해 고추 건조과정에서 부패되어 색상이 좋지 않거나 캡사이신류과 같은 주요 성분이 없게 된 고추를 선별해하는 방법을 제안한다.

GPU를 이용한 Gabor Texture 특징점 기반의 금속 패드 변색 분류 알고리즘 (Discolored Metal Pad Image Classification Based on Gabor Texture Features Using GPU)

  • This paper presents a Gabor texture feature extraction method for classification of discolored Metal pad images using GPU(Graphics Processing Unit). The proposed algorithm extracts the texture information using Gabor filters and constructs a pattern map using the extracted information. Finally, the golden pad images are classified by utilizing the feature vectors which are extracted from the constructed pattern map. In order to evaluate the performance of the Gabor texture feature extraction algorithm based on GPU, a sequential processing and parallel processing using OpenMP in CPU of this algorithm were adopted. Also, the proposed algorithm was implemented by using Global memory and Shared memory in GPU. The experimental results were demonstrated that the method using Shared memory in GPU provides the best performance. For evaluating the effectiveness of extracted Gabor texture features, an experimental validation has been conducted on a database of 20 Metal pad images and the experiment has shown no mis-classification.

폴리비닐알코올 젤의 집속초음파에 의한 온도분포 변화 (Thermal distribution change in polyvinyl alcohol gel caused by focused ultrasound)

  • 폴리비닐알코올(polyvinyl alcohol, PVA)젤을 온도가시화용 생체모의매질로 사용하기 위한 기초적인 정보를 얻기 위하여, PVA의 농도를 바꾸어가며 집속초음파에 의한 온도변화 특성을 조사하였다. 기본적인 음향 특성을 조사하기 위하여 PVA농도에 따른 음속, 감쇠계수, 밀도 등이 측정되었고 열역학적 특성인 열전도도, 열용량이 측정되었다. 30 ℃ 이상에서 변색되는 시온필름을 사용하여 집속초음파에 의해 상승되는 초점부근의 온도 변화의 범위를 관찰하였으며 기록된 이미지의 화상처리를 통하여 변색범위의 면적을 도출하였다. PVA의 농도가 2 wt%~16 wt%의 범위에서 증가할수록 젤 내부에서 30 ℃ 이상으로 상승하는 영역은 선형적으로 증가함을 보였고 집속초음파 트랜스 듀서에 인가하는 파워가 증가할수록 변색영역이 증가함을 확인하였다. 이들 결과는 유한요소법을 사용한 시뮬레이션 결과와도 좋은 일치를 보였다.

열화상 분석을 이용한 전력시스템의 안전진단에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Safety Diagnosis for Electric Power Systems Using Thermal Imaging Analysis)

  • In this paper, the safety diagnosis using thermal image analysis is described for power equipments. The conventional three-phase comparison method has only provided the results of thermal comparison for the equipments. The proposed method defines the conditions of poor connection by visual checks, and supports the criteria with each thermal rise step. As a result, the thermal difference from $5^{\circ}C$ to $10^{\circ}C$ meant the warning state. In addition, the thermal difference more than $10^{\circ}C$ meant that the connection status was unbalanced. In this case, the countermeasure might be the internal load distribution. If the thermal difference more than $20^{\circ}C$ is observed, it means a hot spot at the poor connection. If the hot spot is observed all over the surface, its cause was the unbalanced load, which made the conductive parts discolored and raised the possibility of oxidization or $Cu_2O$ generation. This diagnostic technology employing thermal image analysis method can be directly applied in the field and ensures the safety of equipments.

회전각도를 이용한 알부민 농도 측정용 3차원 종이 칩 (Angular-based Measurement for Quantitative assay of Albumin in three-dimensional Paper-based analytical Device)

  • 본 연구에서는 별도의 이미지 분석 장비를 사용하지 않고 정량적으로 알부민의 농도를 측정할 수 있는 회전각도를 이용한 3차원 종이 칩(3D-PADs)를 제시한다. 변색된 구간의 회전각도를 측정하는 간단한 방법으로 검출을 시연하였다. 3D-PADs는 왁스 프린터를 이용한 인쇄와 라미네이팅 과정을 거쳐 빠르게 제작할 수 있다. 3D-PADs는 샘플의 알부민을 검출하기 위하여 citrate buffer와 tetrabromophenol blue를 흡수시켰다. 3D-PAD의 흡수패드에 샘플 용액을 흡수시키면, 샘플 용액은 형성된 유로를 통하여 수직 및 수평 흐름을 통해 분석 구간으로 흐른다. 변색된 구간의 회전각도는 특정한 알부민의 농도를 나타내며, 알부민 측정의 신뢰할 수 있는 값임을 확인할 수 있었다.

독립성분분석을 이용한 RGB 이미지 토마토 분류 (Tomato sorting using independent component analysis on RGB images)

  • 토마토는 여러 가지 다른 숙성 단계에서 수확될 수 있다. 토마토의 숙성 상태를 판단하기 위해 토마토 과육을 HPLC로 분석한 여러 가지 화합물과 토마토 RGB 이미지를 ICA로 분석한 독립성분간의 관계를 분석하였다. 여러 토마토 화합물중 품질에 가장 영향을 많이 미치는 라이코펜과 토마토 RGB 이미지의 독립성분간의 부분최소제곱 $Q^2$ 값이 0.92로 매우 높음을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 라이코펜에 대응되는 독립성분을 토마토 RGB 이미지에 적용하여 픽셀 면적을 구한 것과 단순이진 이미지로 구해진 이미지의 픽셀 면적간의 비교를 제시하여 독립성분의 유효성을 제시하였다. 독립성분을 반영한 토마토 이미지를 통해 토마토의 숙성 상태를 보여주는 것이 가능하며, ICA 독립성분을 이용한 농축이미지 생성을 통해 토마토의 색상이 좋지 않거나 라이코펜과 같은 주요 성분이 없게 된 토마토를 분류해 내는 것이 가능해진다.

  • Odontodysplasia is a rare developmental anomaly of tooth formation in which hard tissue are affected. Odontodyplasia affects the primary and permanent dentitions in the maxilla, mandible, or both jaws. The maxilla is involved twice as often as the mandible. The condition is more common in female than in male patients and in the anterior than in the posterior regions. The clinical manifestation of odontodysplasia are hypoplasia and hypocalcification of the enamel and dentin of affected teeth. Teeth tend to be small and discolored, with short roots and widely open pulp canal. Delayed eruption of affected teeth with abscess formation is common. Radiographically teeth assume a faint radiolucent image ("ghost teeth"). enamel and dentin appear thin and are similar in radiodensity. The pulp chambers are often larger than normal, calcifications(pulp stone and denticle) are found within them. The etiology of regional odontodysplasia is unknown. However, several causes have been discussed, including somatic mutation, local circulatory disorders, local trauma, failure of migration and differentiation of neural crest cells, local infection.

공포영화에 나타난 공포 캐릭터의 분장표현 연구 (A Study on Make-up Expression of Horror Character in Horror Movie)

  • The purpose of the study was to examine make-up expression elements of horror characters as an evil spirit, a vampire, a zombie, a monster and a psycho murderer through make-up, focused on horror movies of the United States after1960s. First, an evil spirit was expressed that the pupil grew dim without a focus and the skin was torn by going bad and rot completely. Also, it was expressed that its teeth was changed to pointed canine teeth as a wild beast and its pale and bloodless face showed blood vessels clearly. To express its bloodless and pale skin, air brush was swept into the skin over several times. Its canine tooth was made acryl powder into its shape and was harden to make its shape smooth. Also, it was colored to show people like the real thing. Second, a vampire was expressed by make-up elements as long nails, a sharp canine tooth, a pale skin with a blood vessel and dead eyes. Its rough skin and long nails were manufactured with latex foam, which was colored like the skin. Third, a monster image as a werewolf was expressed by make-up elements as fur, sharp teeth, changed nails and toenails, a rough skin and a face changed to a wolf. Rubber mask and rubber body suit were manufactured as a make-up of special character and so all its body was changed. Fourth, a psycho murderer and body-deformed man were expressed by make-up elements as a distorted mask, swelled-up and deformed skull and face form, terribly deformed body, discolored and hang down skin and teeth with an indeterminate form. Its body and face were manufactured by the foam latex technology according to make-up design as a make-up of special character.

Association between Socioeconomic Status and Altered Appearance Distress, Body Image, and Quality of Life Among Breast Cancer Patients

  • Background: Breast cancer patients experience a variety of altered appearance - such as loss or disfigurement of breasts, discolored skin, and hair loss - which result in psychological distress that affect their quality of life. This study aims to evaluate the impact of socioeconomic status on the altered appearance distress, body image, and quality of life among Korean breast cancer patients. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted at advocacy events held at 16 different hospitals in Korea. Subjects were eligible to participate if they were 18 years of age or older, had a histologically confirmed diagnosis of breast cancer, had no evidence of recurrence or metastasis, and had no psychological problems at the time of the survey. Employment status, marital status, education, and income were assessed for patient socioeconomic status. Altered appearance distress was measured using the NCI's cancer treatment side effects scale; body image and quality of life were measured by the EORTC QLC-C30 and BR23. Means and standard deviations of each outcome were compared by socioeconomic status and multivariate linear regression models for evaluating the association between socioeconomic status and altered appearance distress, body image, and quality of life. Results: A total of 126 breast cancer patients participated in the study; the mean age of participants was 47.7 (SD=8.4). Of the total, 83.2% were married, 85.6% received more than high school education, 35.2% were employed, and 41% had more than $3000 in monthly household income. About 46% had mastectomy, and over 30% were receiving either chemotherapy or radiation therapy at the time of the survey. With fully adjusted models, the employed patients had significantly higher altered appearance distress (1.80 vs 1.48; p<0.05) and poorer body image (36.63 vs 51.69; p<0.05) compared to the patients who were unemployed. Higher education (10.58, standard error (SE)=7.63) and family income (12.88, SE=5.08) was positively associated with better body image after adjusting for age, disease stage at diagnosis, current treatment status, and breast surgery type. Similarly, patients who were married and who had higher education had better quality of life were statistically significant in the multivariate models. Conclusions: Socioeconomic status is significantly associated with altered appearance distress, body image, and quality of life in Korean women with breast cancer. Patients who suffer from altered appearance distress or lower body image are much more likely to experience psychosocial, physical, and functional problems than women who do not, therefore health care providers should be aware of the changes and distresses that these breast cancer patients go through and provide specific information and psychosocial support to socioeconomically more vulnerable patients.
