  • The purposes of this paper are to describe the burnout, absence and disciplinary action among police officers in Korea and to identify the correlation among these three variables. And aim of this study is to provide basic information for the health improvement of police officers in Korea. Studies have shown significant static correlation between the practice of absence from work and the absence from work that is false, but the coefficient of correlation is very low. In addition, there was no significant correlation between burnout and disciplinary action. Regression analysis showed significant relationships with burnout and absence intention, practice of absence and types of disciplinary action, but they were very poorly explained. So you can see that the burnout of police officers generally has a small effect on absence, but not on the disciplinary action. Future studies should include supplementary studies of these associations.

  • This research aims to suggest ways to improve the effectiveness of disciplinary suspensions of police officers. Research is based on reviews of prior research and related documents, in addition to analysis of the current status of disciplinary action through public information provided by the National Police Agency. The researcher examined cases in appeal commission example book and analyzed the types and reasons for such cases. This study offers three proposals for improving the disciplinary system. First, the discipline guidelines of police officers should be examined in relation to those of other government employees. Second, a comprehensive manual for data from the disciplinary process should be created and used institutionally. Lastly, police officers should establish an appeals commission that already exists within various civil service operations.

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare differences in perception and knowledge of child abuse and child disciplinary practices according to the history of child abuse victimization. Methods: A questionnaire survey on child abuse was conducted with 491 adults raising children. We compared the perception and knowledge of child abuse and child disciplinary practices between two groups of adults with and without a history of childhood abuse victimization. Results: The group with a history of childhood abuse had lower levels of knowledge of child abuse (F=6.990, p<0.01) and engaged in more negative disciplinary practices (F=5.974, p<0.05) than those without. However, no differences in the perception of child abuse were observed between the two groups. Conclusion: The results suggest that adults with a history of childhood abuse have lower levels of knowledge of child abuse and use more negative disciplinary practices in raising their children. This highlights the need to administer not only educational but also more direct hands-on interventions to vulnerable parents in order to foster healthy parenting and disciplinary practices.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare what meanings of earth science pre-service teachers and primary pre-service teachers about science books and reading through science disciplinary reading and how their thoughts on science education are reflected in the science disciplinary reading process. For the study, 24 third-year students majoring in earth science education and 25 second-year students majoring in primary education were selected as subjects for the study at a teacher training college located in the central part of Korea. As a result of the study, first, earth science pre-service teachers used disciplinary reading a lot to acquire knowledge of science content, but primary pre-service teachers used it for the purpose of using it in class, scientific interest, and curiosity solution. Second, earth science pre-service teachers and primary pre-service teachers showed differences in their thinking in using science related books for science education. While earth science pre-service teachers rarely described the use of science books in their classes, primary pre-service teachers actively described science classes. Third, from the perspective of science disciplinary reading, primary pre-service teachers were more actively emphasizing the meaning of disciplinary reading compared to earth science pre-service teachers. In light of the research results that the reading activity in science has a lot of effect, it is thought that a wide range of research on science disciplinary reading should be conducted as a teaching strategy in school field classes.

  • Understanding the thermodynamics and structural transformation during the Metal-Insulator Transition (MIT) is critical to better understand the underlying physical origin of phase transition in the vanadiumdioxide ($VO_2$). Here, through the temperature-dependent in-situ high resolutiontransmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), and systematic electrical transport study, we have shown that the tunable MIT transition of $VO_2$ nanowires is strongly affected by interplay between strain and domain nucleation by ion beam irradiation. Surprsingly, we have also observed that the $VO_2$ rutile (R) metallic phase could form directly in a strain-induced metastable monoclinic (M2) phase. These insights open the door toward more systematic approaches to synthesis for $VO_2$ nanostructures in desired phase and to use for applications including ultrafast optical switching, smart window, metamaterial, resistance RAM and synapse devices.

  • This paper presents an analytical framework of Conceptual Understandings of Earth Systems (CUES) that shows a relationship between disciplinary knowledge of Earth systems and the specific thinking skills required to understand that knowledge. This framework is developed through an extensive literature review of students' and teachers' understandings of earth systems concepts and systems thinking in earth science context. This study first presents the categories of disciplinary knowledge of Earth systems, Earth System Knowledge (ESK). This study then illustrates a relationship between categories of ESK and the ontological categories (Matter, Process, Systems) that has been used to study students' conceptual understandings of Earth systems. Finally, this study presents the CUES framework to show the relationship between disciplinary knowledge and thinking skills. The implications of using this framework for curriculum development, assessment, and teacher education and ESS research are discussed.

  • An engineering design problem involving Multi-Disciplinary Analysis(MDA) generally requires a large amounts of CPU time for the entire design process, and therefore Multiple Processing System (MPS) are essential to reduce the completion time. However, when applying conventional parallel processing techniques, all of the CAE S/W required for the MDA should be installed on all the servers making up NIPS because of characteristic of MDA and it would be a great expense in CAE S/W licenses. To solve this problem, we propose a Weight-based Multiqueue Load Balancing algorithm for a heterogeneous MPS where performance of servers and CAE S/W installed on each server are different of each other. To validate the performance, a computational experiments comparing the First Come First Serve algorithm and our proposed algorithm was accomplished.

  • The purpose of this study is to find the difference between the parents generation and that of the children in the disciplinary methods by means of parental social population variation. With these purpose in mind, the problems have been suggested like following: 1) what are the general differences of between the two generations of parents and children in disciplinary method? 2)What are the general differences of the views between those two generations according to sex? 3) What are the general differences between the parents generation and the child generation according to age? 4) What are the general differences between the parents generation and the child generation according to education level? 5) What are the general differences between the parents generation and the child generation according to income level? In order to solve these problems, questionnaries were distributed on this appendix 374parents (father: 177, mother: 197) who have the children. Questionnaires were compose on "Parents Inventory" of Radke were employs, classfied five measures. To test and verifying the above hypothes, the following five measures. were used. 1) Philosophy of authority (authoritarian vs. democratic) 2) Parental restrition (strict and stubbon vs. democratic) 3) Severity of punishment (severity vs. mildness) 4) Parent-child rapport 9desirable vs. undesirable) 5) Relative responsibility of father and mothehr towards child disciplinary (equal vs. differ) The result of this study is like follows: 1) In general comparison of two generations, tends to be more democratic in the philosophy of authority, more relaxed and easygoing in the parental restroction, more severe in the severity of punishment, and good rapport in the parent-child rapport than grandparents generation and the responsibility of father don't change but that of mother tends to augment in child disciplinary 2) In comparison of two generation according to sex, the mother showed more democratic in the philosophy of authority and closely perceive her parents in the parent-child rapport as compared with the father. 3) In comparison of two generation according to age, the younger parents showed more relaxed attitudes towards the child disciplinary, the perception better relations of their parents in the parent-child rapport. 4) In the comparison of two generations according to education level the more educated parents showed the more relaxed and easygoing attitude towards in the parental restriction. 5) In comparison of two generation according to income, as the parents of large income generally (not always) showed easygoing than their previous generation in the parental restriction, and they perceive that they have a good one in parent-child rapport. This study caused by the some difficult problem required futher investigation on the result of two generations the problems happened in the inner unitary of items. And, it proposed some problems which constitutes the problems of the proper interpretation of the results between two generations brought about discordance of items between tow generations
