  • In this paper we propose a method of pattern classification of the hand movement using EMG signals through Self-organizing feature map. Self-organizing feature map is an artificial neural network which organizes its output neuron through learning and therefore it can classify input patterns. The raw EMG signals become direct input to the Self-organizing feature map. The simulation and experiment results showed the effectiveness of the classification of EMG signal using the Self-organizing feature map.

  • This study examines and analyzes EMTs works in hospital with 48 subjects working for hospitals at partial areas. It aims to provide basic materials for practice-centered learning to students at Dept. of Emergency Care and information of roles of EMTs. As a result of study, it was found that EMTs works included classification of severity of patients when they came to hosptial, supervision and move of serious case, move of patients and a member of cardiopulmonary resuscitation team as well as filling empty of medical staff and playing medical assistant under direct control of doctors and they played important roles in medical examination. These results showed that EMTs could extend their areas of service within hospital and they could have a positive influence on their seniors' employment.

  • This paper proposes the robot inverse calibration method using a neural networks. A highorder networks called Pi-Sigma networks has been used. The Pi-Sigma networks uses linear summing units in the hidden layer and product unit in output layer. The inverse calibration model which compensates the difference of joint variables only between measuring value and analytic value about the desired pose(position, orientation) of a robot is proposed. The compensated values are determined by using the weights obtained from the learning process of the neural networks previously. To prove the reasonableness, the SCARA type direct drive robot(4-DOF) and anthropomorphic robot(6-DOF) are simulated. It shows that the proposed calibration method can reduce the errors of the joint variables from $\pm$2$^{\circ}$to $\pm$ 0.1$^{\circ}$.

  • This paper proposes a method to apply the Backpropagation(BP) algorithm of MVL(Multi-Valued Logic) Neural Network to pattern recognition. It extracts the property of an object density about an original pattern necessary for pattern processing and makes the property of the object density mapped to MVL. In addition, because it team the pattern by using multiple valued logic, it can reduce time f3r pattern and space fer memory to a minimum. There is, however, a demerit that existed MVL cannot adapt the change of circumstance. Through changing input into MVL function, not direct input of an existed Multiple pattern, and making it each variable loam by neural network after calculating each variable into liter function. Error has been reduced and convergence speed has become fast.

  • The new movement in science education in America and Europe has been heavilly oriented into technological and soceital aspect of science since 1970. However, this spirit has not been well informed in Korea and not adapted in science education. This paper aimed to arouse Korean science educators attention to everyday situation as a science education context. In this paper, the discipline centered science education was briefly reviewed and problems related to the philosophy was pointed out. At the same time the researcher introduced STS context as a science education objective, and elaborated the three elements(physical situation, technological situation. and societal situation) of the context. In the paper, the advantages of the use of everyday context in science education were examined. THe advantages were analysed in terms of the nature of science, learning psychology, integrated science, and societal aspect of science education. The paper also suggested the criteria to select teaching materials from STS context. The suggested criteria were the degree of science concepts involvement, frequency of experience, strength of experience, and possibility of direct experience.

  • Automatic document classification may differ significantly according to the characteristics of documents that are subject to classification, as well as classifier's performance. This research identifies e-mail document's characteristics to apply a three-step preprocessing algorithm that can minimize e-mail document's atypical characteristics. In the first 5go, uncertain based sampling algorithm that used Mean Absolute Deviation(MAD), is used to address the question of selection learning document for the rule generation at the time of classification. In the subsequent stage, Weighted vlaue assigning method by attribute is applied to increase the discriminating capability of the terms that appear on the title on the e-mail document characteristic level. in the third and last stage, accuracy level during classification by each category is increased by using Naive Bayesian Presumptive Algorithm's Dynamic Threshold. And, we implemented an E-Mail Recommendtion System using a three-step preprocessing algorithm the enable users for direct and optimal classification with the recommendation of the applicable category when a mail arrives.

  • This paper describes the neural network control method for the identification and control of chaotic nonlinear dynamical systems effectively. In our control method, the controlled system is modeled by an unknown NARMA model, and a feedforward neural network is used for identifying the chaotic system. The control signals are directly obtained by minimizing the difference between a setpoint and the output of the neural network model. Since learning algorithm guarantees that the output of the neural network model approaches that of the actual system, it is shown that the control signals obtained can also make the real system output close to the setpoint.

  • As an attempt to systematize the environmental education in schools according to the 7th curriculum, this study extracted the contents of environmental education to which Social Studies Education can approach in the social studies lessons. This study analyzed these contents from the goals of environmental education and from its contents and, as a result, it found out the following: (1) in the aspect of ‘knowledge’ and ‘skills’, Social Studies and the goals of environmental education have direct relations with each other, and (2) Social Studies can be taught in the aspect of ‘environmental pollution’, ‘environmental preservation & alternative’ ,‘human environment’, ‘population’, ‘inderstrialization & urbanization, ‘resources’, and so on. By utilizing various teaching and learning methods of Socal studies education, We can approach the goals of environmental education: ‘attitudes’ and ‘participation’. We think that ‘problem solving ability’ is main teaching method” in Socal Studies.

  • One of the learning difficulties for Korean learners of English is the intonation of English focused yes/no questions. Focused words in English yes/no questions are realized as low pitch accents which contrast with high pitch accents in Korean counterparts. In order to improve Korean students' intonation, direct and metalinguistic explanations on the intonation of English focused yes/no questions were given to Korean learners of English. In pre-tests and post-tests, students' perceptions on the target items were measured. The study results showed that phonetic explanation using intonation contour enhanced students' perception on English intonation. With respect to the position of focused words, sentence initial and medial focused questions were more difficult than sentence final focused questions. The perception was most improved in sentence initial focused questions. The study showed the immediate effects of the explicit instruction on perceptions of English intonation.
