  • This paper has studied a remote AMR(Automatic Meter Reading) system using the power line and the telephone line as a communication media and the digital power meter. In the developed system, because we have used the power line and telephone, the facility is very easy and then its cost is not expensive. The system includes following elements: a digital power meter, an indoor communication system using a power line modem and a telephone line interface system for sending data to the utility company.

  • In this paper, we presented a modeling of the power line channel and a new digital communication system over the channel. Firstly, we proposed a new tranceiver structure with DS-CDMA spread spectrum technique and convolutional coder and block interleaver against severe noisy power line environment. Also, QPSK modulation technique was used to get bandwidth efficiency. And then we performed a simulative evaluation of the system using MATLAB communication/simulink toolbox. According to the simulation results, the proposed system gives $10^{-6}$ BER at 20dB SNR.

전력선통신을 이용한 선박 및 건축용 발열유리 온도제어 시스템 (Power Line Communication-based Heated Glass Temperature Control System)

  • Heated glasses are widely used to prevent surface condensation and freezing in ship and building windows. This study proposes a heated glass temperature control system composed of power and control circuits to control the temperature of heated glasses. The proposed temperature control system adopts a digital controller instead of a conventional analog controller. Thus, the proposed system has better characteristics, such as precise setup and control of glass temperature, setup and control of output power, and control mode change between ON/OFF and phase controls. The system can also implement multi-functional control algorithms. The control characteristics are not dependent upon external disturbances, such as ambient temperature and electrical noises. Furthermore, the proposed temperature control system utilizes the power line communication (PLC) method to control the number of heated glasses without any extra communication lines. The system proposes a new communication protocol with strong immunity to electrical switching noises. A new sensorless algorithm is used to detect the temperature of the heated glass. This study presents the design guidelines in detail and its effectiveness are confirmed by implementing a 4-kw prototype temperature control system.

  • In case Power Line Communication (PLC) method is applied to a rainwater monitoring system, PLC module should be utilized. In this paper, PLC module using ST7538Q is implemented. The design rules of the IC peripheral circuit are explained in detail. The operation of the implemented PLC module is verified through the experimental results.

  • 본 논문에서는 복잡한 전관방송 장비와 케이블을 용이하게 운용하고, 확장 및 증설할 수 있도록 전력선 통신을 이용한 전관방송 시스템을 개발하였다. 전력선 통신 기반 전관방송 시스템은 디지털 스트리밍 변조 방식을 적용한 제어 보드와 스피커 보드로 구현되었으며, 오디오 최대 출력, 오디오 채널 응답 시간, 오디오 출력 SNR, 그리고 오디오 출력 THD+N에 대한 성능 측정을 실시하여 만족스러운 결과를 확인할 수 있었다.

  • Transmission line is exposed to a large area, and then faults are likely to occur than the other component of power system. When a fault occurs on a transmission line, fault locator helps fast recovery of power supply on power system. This paper deals with the design of a digital fault locator for improvement accuracy of the fault distance estimation and a fault occurrence position for transmission line. The algorithm of a fault locator uses a DC offset removal filter and DFT filter. The algorithm utilizes a fault data of GPS time synchronized. The computed fault information is transmitted to the other side substation through communication. The digital fault locator includes MPU module, ADPU module, SIU module, and a power module. The MMI firmware and software of the fault locator was implemented.

  • 현재의 디지털 통신시스템은 매우 다양한 디지털 변조방식을 채택하고 있다. 이러한 통신시스템에서는 인접채널에 대한 간섭을 최대한 줄이기 위해서 필연적으로 선형 전력증폭기를 요한다. 선형 전력증폭기는 매우 다양한데 그 중에서 전방궤환 전력증폭기는 구조상 광대역이면서 선형화 정도가 매우 우수하다. 전방궤환 전력중폭기에 사용되는 지연선로의 손실로 인하여 전체효율이 감소한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 지연선로를 손실이 매우 작은 지연필터를 사용함으로써 효율과 선형성을 동시에 개선하였다. 측정된 결과 ACLR이 약 17.43dB 개선되었으며 이것은 지연필터를 사용함으로써 2.54dB 더 개선되었음을 나타낸다.

  • This paper describes the implementation of control and monitoring system of ship's lamps at local area using power line communication method, power line modem(PLM). We design modem, microprocessor interface for electric power control by frequency control and analog to digital signal conversion, lamp device. PLM communication is very economical using existing electric power line unlike RS-232, RS-485 communications. We verify and confirm by experimental work that control and monitor lamp system for ship by an PLM communication.

  • 본 논문에서는 스마트 그리드 배전 시스템이 요구하는 디지털 FRTU(: Feeder Remote Terminal Unit)를 위한 통신 방법론을 연구하였다. 디지털 FRTU는 고장처리부와 통신부로 구성하는데, 고장처리부는 고장 시 고장정보를 통신부로 전송하며, 통신부는 주변 디지털 FRTU간 양방향 통신을 통해서 고장구간을 자율적으로 판별할 수 있도록 설계하였다. 성능 검증을 위해서 다양한 고장 시나리오들에 대한 고장모의가 가능하도록 3개의 디지털 FRTU를 기반으로 3개의 선로구간을 구성하는 하나의 성능 검증 시스템을 구축하였다. 구축된 성능 검증 시스템 상에서 1선 지락고장, 선간 및 3상 단락고장을 포함하는 다양한 고장 경우들을 실험적으로 모의하였으며, 각 경우에서 정확한 추론결과를 검증으로써 개발된 방법론의 유효성을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • Sun power generation systems which use large capacity centralized inverters have loss of power generation due to cloud and building shadows, pollution, cell deterioration, etc. To minimize loss of power generation, decentralized solar power systems using multiple micro-inverters are being proposed as an alternative. A distributed solar power system consisting of a system-connected system uses power line communication to collect data from the micro-inverters. Power line communication has the advantage of using power lines without separate lines for data transmission, but in distributed solar power generation systems that use a large number of micro-inverters, the bit error rate is less reliable due to the phenomenon caused by limited transmission power, high load interference and noise, variable signal attenuation, and impedance characteristics. So we proposed wireless intelligent controller for micro-inverter that is used to build distributed solar power systems. and we design and implement that. Further, the proposed wireless intelligent controller for micro-inverter was used to establish a small-volume solar power plant to check its function and operation.
