  • Base on emission factors derived from National Institute of Environmental Research, Particulate matter from combined cycle power plants (CCPPs) has been estimated to be a important source of $PM_{10}$. Generally there is no serious emission of particulate matter in CCPPs. because the fuel of them is natural gas. But emission gas after long shut down season has very high dust content. Therefore $PM_{10}$ emission rate is dependent on its operation mode. In this study, particulate dispersion study for new city near CCPPs complex has performed using CALPUFF model for three case. $PM_{10}$ concentration has big difference between normal operation and 2 case start-up condition after long shutdown. In normal operating conditions, daily $0.32{\sim}0.50{\mu}g/m^3$ influence on of the surrounding area. But when 1~2 aerobic high concentration discharged conditions, average concentration is higher about $9.2{\sim}34.1{\mu}g/m^3$ than normal operating conditions.

  • Dynamic extinction of solid propellants subjected to rapid pressure drop was studied with the aid of energy equation of condensed phase and flame model in gas phase. It is found that the total residence time($\tau_\gamma$) which measures the residing time of fuel in the reaction zone may play a crucial role in determining the dynamic response of the combustuion to extinction. Residence time was modeled by various combinations of diffusion and chemocal kinetic time scale. Effect of pressure history coupled with chamber volume on the extinction response was also performed and was found that dynamic extinction is more susceptible in a confined chamber than in open geometry. And, dynamic extinction was revealed to be affected profoundly by diffysion time scale rather than chemical kinetic time scale.

  • The validation of a groundwater source heat pump system installation site is estimated by bydrogeothermic model ing. The hydraulic characteristics of the aquifer system is evaluated from pumping and recovery tests. In addition, the temperature distribution by the pumping and the injection of groundwater, and water level fluctuations are simulated by numerical modeling. The total cooling and heating load for the building is designed as 120RT(refrigeration ton) and the ground water source heat pump system covers 50RT as a subsidiary system The scenario of heat pump operation is organized as pumping and inject ion of groundwater that is performed for 8 hours per day in cooling mode for 90 days during the summer season The heat transfer by the injected warm water is limited near the inject ion wells in the simulated temperature distribution. The reason is that the given operation time is too short to expect broad thermal diffusion in large volume of the aquifer in the simulation time The simulated groundwater level and temperature distribution can be used as important data to develope an energy effective pumping and injection well system. Also it will be very useful to evaluate the hydraulic capacity of a target groundwater reservoir.

  • In a previous study, we analyzed the transcriptome of Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans using next-generation sequencing technology and identified several antimicrobial peptide candidates. One of the peptides, scolopendrasin V, was selected based on the physicochemical properties of antimicrobial peptides using a bioinformatics strategy. In this study, we assessed the antimicrobial activities of scolopendrasin V using the radial diffusion assay and colony count assay. We also investigated the mode of action of scolopendrasin V using flow cytometry. We found that scolopendrasin V's mechanism of action involved binding to the surface of microorganisms via a specific interaction with lipopolysaccharides, lipoteichoic acid, and peptidoglycans, which are components of the bacterial membrane. These results provide a basis for developing peptide antibiotics.

  • A numerical model for nuclide migration through fractured rock media has been developed. Nuclide transport with groundwater in rock fissures and the diffusion of nuclides into rock matrix are considered one-dimensionally . In the safety assessment of the repository for radioactive waste, this one-dimensional model by the finite-difference scheme, which enables us not only to use more realistic boundary conditions but also to model the nonhomogeneous rock medium as the multilayered media, can be used effectively with the analytical mode. The solution by the numerical model will be verified analytically, and then extended to the double-layered rock medium transport model.

  • For $P_B=50,\;{\Delta}T=10K$, Ar=5, Pr=2.36, Le=0.015, Pe=1.26, Cv=1.11, the intensity of solutal convection (solutal Grashof number $Grs=3.44x10^4$) is greater than that of thermal convection (thermal Grashof number $Grt=1.81x10^3$) by one order of magnitude, which is based on the solutally buoyancy-driven convection due to the disparity in the molecular weights of the component A($Hg_2Cl_2$) and B(He). With increasing the partial pressure of component B from 10 up to 200 Torr, the rate is decreased exponentially. The convective transport decreases with lower g level and is changed to the diffusive mode at 0.1 $g_0$. In other words, for regions in which the g level is 0.1 $g_0$ or less, the diffusion-driven convection results in a parabolic velocity profile and a recirculating cell is not likely to occur. Therefore a gravitational acceleration level of less than 0.1 $g_0$ can be adequate to ensure purely diffusive transport.

  • The 2.5 vol% TiNi/6061Al composites were fabricated by permanent mold casting, and its microstructures and tensile test for the cold rolled composites with maximum 50% reduction ratio were investigated. In the case of TiNi fiber with 2mm interval in preform, the interface bonding of fabricated composites were good. EPMA analysis results were found the small amount of Mg, Si segregated interface of diffusion layer. Transverse section of TiNi fiber was decreased with increasing reduction ratio and 40% reduction ratio was observed microcrack from TiNi fiber. And the tensile strength of composites at 38% reduction ratio was 194MPa. In the case of over 38% reduction ratio, the decrease of the tensile strength was due to TiNi fiber rupture by excess working. The fracture mode was appeared brittle fracture with increasing reduction ratio

  • Systematic experiments in $CH_4/Air$ counterflow diffusion flames diluted with He have been undertaken to study the oscillatory instability in which lateral flame size was less than burner nozzle diameter and thus lateral heat loss could be remarkable at low global strain rate. The oscillatory instability arises for Lewis numbers greater than unity and occurs near extinction condition. The oscillation is the direct outcome from the advancing and retreating edge flame. The dynamic behaviors of extinction in this configuration can be classified into three modes; growing, harmonic and decaying oscillation mode near extinction. As the global strain rate decreases, the amplitude of the oscillation becomes larger. This is caused by the increase of lateral heat loss which can be confirmed by the reduction of lateral flame size. Oscillatory edge flame instabilities at low global strain rate are shown to be closely associated with not only Lewis number but also heat loss (radiation and lateral heat loss).

  • Two 3-D zinc framework compounds, $[Zn_6(BTB)_4(4,4'-bipy)_4(H_2O)_4]{\cdot}9H_2O$ (1) and $[Zn_3(BTB)_2(4,4'-bipy)_2(H_2O)_2]{\cdot}5H_2O$ (2) ($H_3BTB$ = 1,2,3-benzenetricarboxylic acid, 4,4'-bipy = 4,4'-bipyridine), are obtained from the diffusion method and hydrothermal reaction respectively. Though 1 and 2 has the same coordination geometries of zinc atoms and coordination mode of $BTB^{3-}$, their 2-D layers are different: mirror symmetric layers in 1; parallel ones in 2, further connecting by 4,4'-bipy into 3-D frameworks. The hydrothermal reaction of 2 results in a more stable 3-D framework than the one in 1, which is supported by the single point energy calculations. 1 and 2 show similar blue fluorescence at 417 nm, which can be assigned to LMCT.

  • In this paper, structural behavior of Gasket and GDL of a PEMFC stack is studied to improve the performance and to secure the safety. In the Gasket analysis Mooney-Rivlin strain energy function is used to consider hyperelasticity of load and displacement. The material properties is determined by testing specimens of the gasket at uni-axial and equi-biaxial mode and compared with finite element analysis results. By measuring a thickness change, the material property of GDL is determined. The pressure drop of a unit cell is measured along the channel for the clamping force. A cross sectional change of channel base on the experimental data is obtained experimentally and compare with FEM analysis results.
