  • This paper outlines the research findings on the microstructure and mechanical properties of AZ31 Mg alloy fabricated by differential speed rolling (DSR) with respect to processing variables such as temperature, roll speed ratio (RSR), and deformation route. The resultant microstructure of the sample, deformed by 2-pass DSRs at 473 K, comprised finer grains with more uniform distribution than those at 573 and 623 K. This was due to active recrystallization, which was expected to appear during DSR at temperatures higher than 573 K. When the sample was deformed via DSR with RSR of 1:4 for the upper and lower rolls at 453 K, the values of yield and ultimate tensile strength were observed to be higher than their counterpart with RSR of 1:1. The application of sample rotation around the longitudinal axis would give rise to an excellent combination of tension strength (~330 MPa) and ductility (~20 %) at ambient temperatures. This is discussed based on its uniform fine grained structure and the softening of basal texture.

  • This paper presents the optimal design of an exhaust system of a vacuum-compatible air bearing using a genetic algorithm. To use the air bearings in vacuum conditions, the differential exhaust method is adopted to minimize the air leakage, which prevents air from leaking into a vacuum chamber by recovering air through several successive seal stages in advance. Therefore, the design of the differential exhaust system is very important because several design parameters such as the number of seals, diameter and length of an exhaust tube, pumping speed and ultimate pressure of a vacuum pump, seal length and gap(bearing clearance) influence on the air leakage, that is, chamber's degree of vacuum. In this paper, we used a genetic algorithm to optimize the design parameters of the exhaust system of a vacuum-compatible air bearing under the several constraint conditions. The results indicate that chamber's degree of vacuum after optimization improved dramatically compared to the initial design, and that the distribution of the spatial design parameters, such as exhaust tube diameter and seal length, was well achieved, and that technical limit of the pumping speed was well determined.

  • In this paper, optical noise is reduced by a differential detector with a plastic optical fiber bundle in a wireless optical interconnection. A plastic optical fiber bundle divides the received optical signal equally and connects it to two photodiodes. In this configuration two photodiodes effectively detect the optical signal at one point, and the output voltage variation due to the abrupt change of optical noise distribution in space disappears. The signal to noise ratio in a differential detector with a fiber bundle was improved to be $10\;\cal{dB}$ higher than in a single photodiode with an optical filter.

  • This article presented a comprehensive model to study static buckling stability and associated mode-shapes of higher shear deformation theories of sandwich laminated composite beam under the compression of varying axial load function. Four higher order shear deformation beam theories are considered in formulation and analysis. So, the model can consider the influence of both thick and thin beams without needing to shear correction factor. The compression force can be described through axial direction by uniform constant, linear and parabolic distribution functions. The Hamilton's principle is exploited to derive equilibrium governing equations of unified sandwich laminated beams. The governing equilibrium differential equations are transformed to algebraic system of equations by using numerical differential quadrature method (DQM). The system of equations is solved as an eigenvalue problem to get critical buckling loads and their corresponding mode-shapes. The stability of DQM in determining of buckling loads of sandwich structure is performed. The validation studies are achieved and the obtained results are matched with those. Parametric studies are presented to figure out effects of in-plane load type, sandwich thickness, fiber orientation and boundary conditions on buckling loads and mode-shapes. The present model is important in designing process of aircraft, naval structural components, and naval structural when non-uniform in-plane compressive loading is dominated.

  • The traditional Korean Ondol System that is a radiant floor heating system was made as warm floor and cool indoor temperature. Nowaday, Ondol is developed as the hydronic floor heating system. But unbalance of floor temperature and indoor temperature is occurred bocause strengthen thermal insulation and airtightness in building changes thermal performance. To solve these problems, we examine actual indoor environment of heating system methods in existing apartments and present the new method of floor heating system. The existing heating system made definite indoor temperatures but floor temperatures that is $22^{\circ}C-26^{\circ}C$ was maintained. To solve these problems, we adopted the differential heating system which made warm area and cool area. A differential heating system was made different pitches of heating pipe in single zone and ratio of warm area to cool area is 1 to 2. As a result of experiments, warm area temperature is $40.7^{\circ}C$, cool area temperature is $36.1^{\circ}C$. A difference of temperature between both area is 4K. A distribution of indoor vertical temperature is similar to both warm area and cool area.

  • In this paper, frequency analysis of curved functionally graded (FG) nanobeam by consideration of deepness effect has been studied. Differential transform method (DTM) has been used to obtain frequency responses. The nonlocal theory of Eringen has been applied to consider nanoscales. Material properties are supposed to vary in radial direction according to power-law distribution. Differential equations and related boundary conditions have been derived using Hamilton's principle. Finally, by consideration of nonlocal theory, the governing equations have been derived. Natural frequencies have been obtained using semi analytical method (DTM) for different boundary conditions. In order to study the effect of deepness, the deepness term is considered in strain field. The effects of the gradient index, radius of curvature, the aspect ratio, the nonlocal parameter and interaction of aforementioned parameters on frequency value for different boundary conditions such as clamped-clamped (C-C), clamped-hinged (C-H), and clamped-free (C-F) have been investigated. In addition, the obtained results are compared with the results in previous literature in order to validate present study, a good agreement was observed in the present results.

  • In the measurement using DMA and CPC in series, there is some time delay for particles classified in DMA to detect in CPC. During this time, the DMA time-response changes due to the velocity profile of sampling tube and the diffusion of particles in the volume that exists between the DMA exit and the detector of ultra-fine CPC. This is called mixing effect. In the accelerated measurement methods like the TSI -SMPS, the size distribution is obtained from the correlation between the time-varying electrical potential of the DMA and the corresponding particle concentrations sampled in DMA. If the DMA time -response changes during this delay time, this can cause the error of a size distribution measured by this accelerated technique. The kernel function considering this mixing effect using the residence time distribution is proposed by Russell et al. In this study, we obtained a size distribution using this kernel to compare to the result obtained by the commercial accelerated measurement system, TSI -SMPS for verification and considered the errors that result from the mixing effect with the geometric mean diameters of originally sampled particles, using virtually calculated responses obtained with this kernel as input data.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to examine the influence of private label cues, including store image, product design, price promotion, and origin image, on consumers repurchase intention by mediating consumption value from a distribution perspective. Additionally, it explored nationality's moderating role in the relationship between consumption value and repurchase intention. Research design, data and methodology: Drawing on the SOR model, data were collected from 246 consumers who had purchased private-label products in the past month. Structural equation modeling analysis was employed to test hypotheses using AMOS and SPSS. Results: Findings revealed that cues significantly impact consumers' perception of consumption value, influencing repurchase intention. Price promotion directly affected repurchase intention, while other cues indirectly influenced it through consumption value mediation. Nationality moderated the relationship between consumption value and repurchase intention, with Korean consumers showing a higher propensity to repurchase than Chinese consumers. Conclusions: Theoretical implications of the study contributed to understanding consumer behavior by confirming the impact of private label cues, elucidating their differential effects on repurchase intention, and integrating theoretical frameworks. Managerial implications underscored the significance of leveraging cues to enhance consumption value perceptions, tailoring marketing strategies to accommodate cultural nuances, and utilizing cues to bolster consumer repurchase intentions, ultimately enhancing distribution channel effectiveness.

  • The nonlinear buckling response of nano composite anti-symmetric functionally graded polymeric microplate reinforced by single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) rested on orthotropic elastomeric foundation with temperature dependent properties is investigated. For the carbon-nanotube reinforced composite (CNTRC) microplate, a uniform distribution (UD) and four types of functionally graded (FG) distribution are considered. Based on orthotropic Mindlin plate theory, von Karman geometric nonlinearity and Hamilton's principle, the governing equations are derived. Generalized differential quadrature method (GDQM) is employed to calculate the non-linear buckling response of the plate. Effects of FG distribution type, elastomeric foundation, aspect ratio (thickness to width ratio), boundary condition, orientation of foundation orthotropy and temperature are considered. The results are validated. It is found that the critical buckling load without elastic medium is significantly lower than considering Winkler and Pasternak medium.

  • Computation is performed to predict number density, volume fraction and size distribution of soot particles in typical operating conditions of a diesel engine. KIVA has been integrated with the CMC routine to consider turbulence/chemistry coupling and gas phase kinetics for heat release and soot precursors. The compositions of soot precursors are estimated by tracking Lagrangian particles to consider spatial inhomogeneity and differential diffusion in KIVA. The soot simulator SWEEP is employed as a postprocessing step to calculate conditional and integral quantities of soot particles.
