Analysis of combining ability is a widely used biometrical tool to select promising parents and hybrids, to determine the kinds and relative magnitudes of genetic variability among hybrids as well as to forecast yield attributes in early breeding generations both in plants and animals. Various statistical approaches like Jinks and Hayman (1953), Griffing (1956), Kempthorne (1957) etc. have been extensively applied in plants. These approaches have also been tried in the mulberry silkworm, Bombyx mori L. In the present review, an attempt has been made to collect most of the studies carried out on combining ability in silkworm at one place and make it available to the scientists engaged in sericultural research.

맥주보리의 양적형질에 대한 유전정보를 얻고자 7개 품종으로 이면교배하여 $F_1$ 세대에 대한 유전자의 분포상태 분산성분.유전력 등을 분석한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 공시된 품종집단에 대한 $F_1$ 세대의 우성정도를 Vr-Wr graph상에서 볼 때 간장.수장.망장.곡립장.1수립수 등은 초우성으로 유전되었고 경직경.곡립폭 1000립중은 불완전우성으로 유전되었다. 각 형질에 대한 분산분석 결과에서 상가적효과, 우성효과, 모본효과, 정역간의 효과는 간장.수장.망장.경직경.곡립장.곡립폭.1수립수.1000립중 등에서 모두 유의하였다. 유전 분산성분에서 간장.수장.망장.경직경.곡립장.곡립폭.1수립수.1000립중은 우성효과가 상가효과보다 컸다. 협의의 유전력은 수장이 40.06%로서 높았다.

가잠에 있어서 잡종세대의 우수한 계통을 생산할 수 있는 교배친의 선정과 교배친의 잡종세대의 유전 현상에 대한 기초 정보를 얻고자 7개 품종을 이면교잡하고 이를 F1세대에 대하여 유전자의 분포상태 및 우성 정도, 그리고 조합능력 등을 검정한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. Vr-Wr graph 및 분산성분에서 단견종은 우성효과가 큰 초우성으로, 단층종과 단층비율은 상가적 효과가 큰 불완전우성으로 각각 추정되었다. 2. 조합능력은 전형질에서 유의적으로 작용하였고 일반조합능력이 특정조합능력보다 크게 평가되었다. 3. 조합능력의 효과 중 GCA 효과는 잠 107이 전 형질에서 가장 높았고, SCA 효과는 잠 113$\times$ 중 14의 조합이, 잠 107$\times$중 14의 조합이 크게 평가되어 주로 중 14가 교배부체일 때에 조합능력이 컸었다.

대두의 엽형에 관한 유전연구의 일환으로 엽장이 친 품종, 엽폭이 긴 품종, 엽장과 엽폭이 짧은 7품종들을 문배친으로 하여 이들 품종간의 이면문잡에 의한 21개잡종 F$_2$세대와 교배친을 재료로 엽병장, 주소엽병장, 주소엽장, 주소업폭, 측소엽장, 측소엽폭 등의 엽형질에 관여하는 유전자의 분포상태를 본 바 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 엽병장은 주소엽병장보다 길고 전체적으로 평균 5배정도였고, 주소엽장은 측소엽장보다 길며, 엽장은 엽폭보다 길었으나, 주소엽폭보다 측소엽폭이 도리어 긴 경향이었다. 2. 조사 측정된 6개형질 모두 부분우성으로 유전되고 회귀계수가 낮은 것으로 보아 비대립 유전자의 관여가 큰 것을 알 수 있였다. 3. 엽병장에는 A품종(선비잡이콩)과 B품종(동산6002)에, 엽장에는 A품종과 C품종(경남002), 엽폭에도 A품종과 B정종에 우성유전자가 많이 관여하고 있는 것으로 보였고, G품종(D69-7816)과 F품종(D62-7816)에는 각 형질에 열성유전자가 많이 관여하고 있는 것으로 보인다.

Six flue-cured cultivars of Nicotiana tabacum L., 15 possible $F_1$ hybrids and 15 $F_2$ populations among them, and 15 haploid populations of $F_1$ hybrids and 6 haploid from parents, were evaluated. The variances of general combining ability were predominant for all characters studied in $F_1$ hybrid and $F_2$ population, and in haploid populations of $F_1$ hybrids except leaf width, value and reducing sugar. There were significant correlations between generations in variances and ranks of parental GCA effects estimated from general combining ability analysis of $F_1,\;F_2$ and haploid generation of $F_1$ hybrids for yield, stem height, days to flower. leaves per plant, value and total alkaloids.

The experiment was conducted to obtain basic information on breeding of flue-cured tobacco varieties. Nine cultivars and partial diallel set of 36 F1 hybrides were grown at Taegu Experiment Station, Korea Ginseng & Tobacco Research Institute in 1983. Estimated heritability in the narrow-sense ranged from 66.21% to 94.12% for yield, leaves per plant, days to flower, leaf weight, leaf width, leaf shape, nicotine content and reducing sugar content, while that for stalk height, leaf length, midrib weight and midrib width ranged from 28.12% to 56.25%. The genotypic correlations were positive among yield, leaf weight, leaf length, leaf width, midrib weight and midrib width in the middle leaves, days to flower, nicotine content and reducing correlated with leaf length than leaf width. At the path coefficient analysis of the effect of leaf and midrib characters upon yield according to stalk position, leaf weight, leaf width and midrib width in the middle leaves, and leaf weight, and leaf width in the top leaves showed high direct effects.

참깨는 무한화의 특성을 지니고 있어 수확시 필연적으로 미등숙 종실의 발생과 탈립으로 인한 수량 손실이 발생하는 등 재배상 여러 가지 문제점을 야기하는데, 현재 개발되고 있는 내탈립성 참깨들은 이러한 문제점을 해결해 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대되고 있다. 본 연구는 새로 개발된 내탈립성 참깨와 기존품종들 간의 이면교잡을 실시하여 탈립성을 포함한 주요양적형질에 대한 잡종강세 및 조합능력을 분석하였으며, 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 탈립율은 모든 조합에서 탈립율이 증가하는 방향으로 잡종강세가 작용하였으며 PA형(수원195호)/ID형(SIG960320-5-1-1) 조합에서 가장 컸는데, 이는 탈립 저항성과 관련된 형질이 모두 열성으로 $F_{1}$ 세대에서는 그 특성이 발현되지 않았기 때문이었다. 2. 잡종강세 발현은 주당삭수, 주당수량 및 분지수 등에서 컸으며, 경장과 착삭부위장에서는 적게 나타났다. 3. 일반조합능력(GCA)은 6개 형질 모두에서 유의성이 인정되었으며, 특정조합능력(SCA)에서는 탈립율, 주당삭수 및 주당수량에서 유의성을 보였다. 4. 모든 형질에서 GCA분산이 SCA 분산보다 커서 상가적 유전자 작용의 효과가 더 큰 것으로 추정되었다. 5. 교배친의 GCA 검정에서 수원195호는 탈립율과 경장의 감소효과가 크고 주당삭수와 주당수량을 증대시키는 효과를, SIG96320-5-1-1은 주당수량 감소와 경장을 증가시키는 효과를 보였다. 교배조합별 SCA는 양백깨/수원195호 조합은 주당삭수 증대면에서, 안산깨/SIG96320-5-1-1 조합은 주당수량 증대면에서, 안산깨/수원177호 조합은 탈립율 감소면에서 가장 큰 효과를 나타냈다.

For some basic information in tobacco breeding, the modes of inheritance and heritabilities for the twelve agronomic and chemical characters were estimated in the study of eight varieties partial diallel set. Additive gene actions were significant for all characters except total nitrogen content and dominance gene effects were also significant for all characters. Yield, number of leaves per plant, leaf length and leaf shape index were inherited as partial dominance, and overdominance was detected for plant height, stem diameter, internode length, total alkaloid, total nitrogen and total sugar content. Dominant gene showed increasing effects in yield, plant height, stem diameter, internode length, leaf width and total sugar content, but showed decreasing effects in the other characters. The broad heritability was very high for all characters. and the narrow heritability was high in days to flower and yield, but low in internode length, total alkaloid, total nitrogen and total sugar content.

In order to obtain the basic information for the successful breeding of aromatic tobacco (N. tabacum L.), the combining ability and the mode of inheritance in 28 $F_2$ hybrids by diallel crosses between Korea local and oriental varieties were investigated. Estimates of general combining ability were significant for all characters investigated, and the specific combining ability was significant for stalk height, leaves per plant, leaf length, leaf width and days to flower. The partial dominance was exhibited by all characters investigated as well as additive effects were larger than dominance effects for all characters.

누에 품종육성을 위한 기초자료를 얻기 위해 7개 품종을 이면교잡하여 얻은 F1 세대에 대한 유전자의 분포상태, 우성정도, 분산성분과 성분비 등을 분석한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 8개 형질에서 정방향의 잡종강세를 나타낸 형질은 암견층비율을 제외한 7개 형질이었으며 이 중암전견중, 암용체중은 매우 높은 잡종강세를 나타내었고 부방향의 잡종강세는 암·수견층비율에서 볼 수 있었다. 2. 각 형질에 대한 분산분석의 결과는 세포질의 영향인 모체효과와 정·역간의 효과에서 암견층비율과 암용체중을 제외한 전 형질에서 유의성이 인정되었다. 3. Vr-Wr graph에서 암전견중과 암·수용체중은 초우성을 나타내고 수전견중, 암·수견충중, 암·수견층비율은 불완전우성으로 유전되었다. 4. 유전분산성분에서 수전견중, 암·수견층중, 암·수견층비율은 상가적 효과가 우성효과보다 크게 나타났고, 암전견중은 우성 효과가 상가적 효과보다 크게 표현되었다. 5. 협의의 유전력은 암·수전견중, 암·수견층중, 암·수견층비율에서 0.51 이상으로 높았고, 광의의 유전력은 암용체중을 제외한 전 형질에서 0.77 이상으로 높았다. 6. 우성의 방향은 암견층비율이 부이고, 암·수견층중이 5.22, 6.02로 다소 높았으나 암·수전견중, 수견층비율, 암·수용체중은 정으로 낮았다.
