This paper considers a new weighed model reduction method using block diagonal solutions of Lyapunov inequalities. With the input and/or output weighting function, the stability of the reduced order system is guaranteed and an a priori error bound is proposed. to achieve this after finding the solutions of two Lyapunov inequalities and balancing the full order system, we find the reduced order systems using the direct truncation and the singular perturbation approximation. The proposed method is compared with other existing methods using numerical examples.
This paper is on weighted model reduction using structurally balanced truncation. For a given weighted(single or double-sided) transfer function, a state space realization with the linear fractional transformation form is obtained. Then we prove that two block diagonal LMI(linear matrix inequality) solutions always exist, and it is possible to get a reduced order model with guaranteed stability and a priori error bound. Finally, two examples are used to show the validity of proposed weighted reduction method, and the method is compared with other existing methods.

This paper proposes the new type of an ion exchange water generator system. The system has an +/- ion exchange membrane located in center and a diagonal-interdigit type electrode applied to a pulsed power. This system is studied in the liquid for the oxidation/reduction potential and the dissolved oxygen concentration by the polarity effects. Consequently, as a diagonal-interdigit type electrode is installed in each side of device, the oxidation/reduction potential and dissolved oxygen concentration by polarity changes and electrical resistivity differences be observed. An ion concentration in the ion exchange water generator system is increased by dissolved oxygen generated from oxidation/reduction potential changes.
In this paper we find some classes of operators implying normaity. The main result is as follows. If T is restriction-convexoid and is reduced by each of its eigenspaces corresponding to isolated eigenvalues, which is a class including hyponormal operators, and if $\sigma$(T) is countable then T is diagonal and normal.
The behavior of beam-column joints in moment resisting frame structures is susceptible to damage caused by seismic effects due to poor performance of the joints. A good number of researches were carried out to understand the complex mechanism of RC joints considered in current seismic design codes. The traditional construction detailing of transverse reinforcement has resulted in serious joint failures during earthquakes. This paper introduces a new design philosophy involving the use of additional diagonal bars within the joint particularly suitable for low to medium seismic effects in earthquake zones. In this study, ten full-scale interior beam-column specimens were constructed with various additional reinforcement details and configurations. The results of the experiment showed that adding additional bars is a promising approach in reinforced concrete structures where earthquakes are eminent. In terms of overall cracking observation during the test, the specimens with additional bars (diagonal and straight) compared with the ones without them showed fewer cracks in the column. Furthermore, concrete confinement is certainly an important design measure as recommended by most international codes.

Reinforced concrete deep beams are structural beams with low shear span-to-depth ratio, and hence in which the strain distribution is significantly nonlinear and the conventional beam theory is not applicable. A strut-and-tie model is considered one of the most rational and simplest methods available for shear strength prediction and design of deep beams. The strut-and-tie model approach describes the shear failure of a deep beam using diagonal strut and truss mechanism: The diagonal strut mechanism represents compression stress fields that develop in the concrete web between diagonal cracks of the concrete while the truss mechanism accounts for the contributions of the horizontal and vertical web reinforcements. Based on a database of 406 experimental observations, this paper proposes a new strut-and-tie-model for accurate prediction of shear strength of reinforced concrete deep beams, and further improves the model by correcting the bias and quantifying the scatter using a Bayesian parameter estimation method. Seven existing deterministic models from design codes and the literature are compared with the proposed method. Finally, a limit-state design formula and the corresponding reduction factor are developed for the proposed strut-andtie model.
In an effort to enhance the quality of feature vector classification and thereby reduce the recognition error rate of the speaker-independent speech recognition, we employ the Mahalanobis distance in the calculation of the similarity measure between feature vectors. It is assumed that the metric matrix of the Mahalanobis distance be diagonal for the sake of cost reduction in memory and time of calculation. We propose that the diagonal elements be given in terms of the variations of the feature vector components. Geometrically, this prescription tends to redistribute the set of data in the shape of a hypersphere in the feature vector space. The idea is applied to the speech recognition by hidden Markov model with fuzzy vector quantization. The result shows that the recognition is improved by an appropriate choice of the relevant adjustable parameter. The Viterbi score difference of the two winners in the recognition test shows that the general behavior is in accord with that of the recognition error rate.
This paper explores new techniques that are based on a hidden-layer linear transformation for fast speaker adaptation used in deep neural networks (DNNs). Conventional methods using affine transformations are ineffective because they require a relatively large number of parameters to perform. Meanwhile, methods that employ singular-value decomposition (SVD) are utilized because they are effective at reducing adaptive parameters. However, a matrix decomposition is computationally expensive when using online services. We propose the use of an extended diagonal linear transformation method to minimize adaptation parameters without SVD to increase the performance level for tasks that require smaller degrees of adaptation. In Korean large vocabulary continuous speech recognition (LVCSR) tasks, the proposed method shows significant improvements with error-reduction rates of 8.4% and 17.1% in five and 50 conversational sentence adaptations, respectively. Compared with the adaptation methods using SVD, there is an increased recognition performance with fewer parameters.
Oxygen-free copper (OFC) was prepared as a 90 mm cube and then processed with Multi-Axial Diagonal Forging - Initialization of Prior manufacturing History (MADF). The MADF process has been newly developed as a severe plastic deformation method. The MADF process consists of upset forging with a thickness reduction of 30% and diagonal forging with a diagonal angle of $135^{\circ}$. 1 cycle process consists of a 12 passes forging process. In order to analyze the characteristic changes according to the number of iterations, 1, 2, and 3 cycles of the MADF process were performed. The OFC specimens were MADF processed without surface cracks up to 3 cycles. The microstructure, hardness and tensile test of processed materials were analyzed to study the change of material properties according to the amount of MADF process. The results showed that the MADF process effectively refined the microstructure and increased the strength of OFC. In the case of specimens processed for more than 2 cycles, the grains of all measurement regions were refined to be less than $7{\mu}m$ of grain size. The 1 cycle MADF processed OFC showed the highest mechanical properties with the hardness of 132 HV and tensile strength of 395 MPa. Hardness and strength seemed to be saturated when processed over 2 cycles.

This study investigated the effects of the processing number of multi-axial diagonal forging (MADF) on the microstructural changes of OFC fabricated by MADF processes. The as-extruded OFC was cut to $25mm^3$ cube for the MADF processes. The MADF process consists of plane forging with a thickness reduction of 30% and diagonal forging with a diagonal forging angle of $135^{\circ}$. In order to analyze the microstructural evolutions according to the number of repetitions, 1, 2, 3 and 4 cycles of the MADF process were performed. OFC specimens were successfully deformed without surface cracking for up to 4 cycles of MADF. The grain size, average misorientation and average grain orientation spread (GOS) of MADF processed materials were analyzed using EBSD technique and their Vicker's hardness were also measured. The results showed that MADF process effectively refined the microstructure of OFC with initial average grain size of $84.2{\mu}m$. The average grain sizes of specimens MADF processed for 1, 2, 3, 4 cycles were refined to be $8.5{\mu}m$, $2.2{\mu}m$, $1.5{\mu}m$, $1.1{\mu}m$, respectively. The grain refinement seemed to be saturated when OFC was MADF processed over 2 cycles. In the case of specimens subjected to two or more cycles of MADF, the degree of decrease in average grain size was drastically reduced as the number of cycles increased due to softening phenomena such as dynamic recovery or dynamic recrystallization during processing. The degree of increase in average Vicker's hardness was also dramatically reduced as the number of cycles increased due to the same reason.
