How Must We Prepare in the Next Decades When Caring for Those With Developmental Disabilities: "Grown Up" (2018)

  • The Guarantee of Rights and Support for Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act was enacted and revised in 2014. However, national measures for persons with developmental disabilities remain insufficient. In the film, "Grown Up," director Hyeyoung Jang filmed the daily life of her sister, who has developmental disabilities. She raised not only the issue of institutionalization in people with developmental disabilities in Korea but also the issue of a lack of policies that would be essential to them and their family members. In the future, I hope that as experts, child and adolescent psychiatrists in Korea will pay more attention to the lives of people with developmental disabilities outside the clinic and propose policies to help them and their family members.

발달장애인 선거권에 대한 대학생의 인식 연구: 장애관련 교육경험 유무를 중심으로 (A Study on the Perception of the Right to Vote of Persons with Developmental Disabilities in College Students: Based on the Experience of Disability Related Education)

  • 본 연구는 대학생들의 발달장애인 선거권에 대한 인식을 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 광주광역시의 A대학교와 B대학교에 재학 중인 학생들을 대상으로 편의표집을 통해 최종 370명의 자료를 분석하였다. 분석결과, 장애관련 강좌를 수강한 적이 있는 경우에 발달장애인의 선거권에 대한 인식이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 장애관련 봉사 참여 횟수가 많을수록 발달장애인의 선거권에 대한 인식이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 발달장애인의 참정권 필요하다고 응답한 경우가 그렇지 않은 경우보다 선거권의 인식이 긍정적인 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 통해 대학생을 포함한 비장애인들이 발달장애인의 선거권에 대한 긍정적인 태도와 인식을 확립하기 위한 방안 모색이 필요함을 제언하였다.

발달장애인 부모의 성격 5요인이 주관적 안녕감에 미치는 영향: 자기조절효능감을 매개로 (The Effects of 5 Personality factors on Subjective Well-Being in Parents with Developmental Disabilities: The Mediating Effects of self-regulatory efficacy)

  • Objectives: This study examined the relations among 5 personality factors, self-regulatory efficacy and subjective well-being in parents with developmental disabilities. This study also examined the mediating effect of self-regulatory efficacy on the relationship between 5 personality factors and subjective well-being in parents with developmental disabilities. Methods: The research subjects consisted of 114 parents with developmental disabilities. They completed questionnaires 5 personality factors, self-regulatory efficacy and subjective well-being by parents. The data were analyzed by SPSS 22.0 program. Results: The results of this study showed that 5 personality factors-neuroticism and extroversion-had a direct effect on subjective well-being in parents with developmental disabilities. Second, 5 personality factors-extroversion- had an indirect effect on the subjective well-being through self-regulatory efficacy in parents with developmental disabilities. Conclusions: These findings have implications for future research and practice by highlighting the importance of self-regulatory efficacy in subjective well-being in parents with developmental disabilities.

발달장애인의 사회적 농업분야 일자리 창출방안 연구 (Study on the Creation of Jobs in the Social Farming of People with Developmental Disabilities)

  • 본 연구는 사회적 농업에서 발달장애인의 일자리 가능성을 모색하여 창출방안을 도출하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 해외 사회적 농업 활동 중에서 발달장애인 대상 사례를 참조하였다. 그리고 국내의 사회적 농장 다섯 곳을 방문하여 관찰하고, 담당자를 인터뷰하였다. 연구내용은 발달장애인의 일자리로서 사회적 농업의 의미와 가능성을 파악하고 사회적 농업에서 지속가능한 발달장애인 일자리 창출방안을 탐색하였다. 연구결과, 국내의 사회적 농업은 초기단계 있으며, 발달장애인에 대한 치유와 돌봄 중심의 농업체험 중심의 활동이 대부분이었다. 향후 지속적인 농업교육과 활동을 통해서 발달장애인에게 적합한 농업 일자리로서의 가능성이 충분하다는 결론을 도출하였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구에서는 사회적 농업 분야에서 발달장애인 일자리 창출모형을 제안하였다. 본 연구에서 제시하는 일자리 창출모형은 크게 치유중심의 체험형, 돌봄 중심의 보호작업형, 사회적 일자리 모형으로 구분하였고, 사회적 일자리 모형에 스마트 팜 모형과 식물공장 모형을 추가하였다.

A Strategies for Using Smartphone as a Social Real Life Tools for Students with Developmental Disabilities

  • 본 연구는 스마트폰 사용이 활성화된 사회 환경 속에서 발달장애 학생이 스마트폰 애플리케이션을 사회 실생활 도구로 효과적으로 활용할 수 있는 방안에 관해 '발달장애 학생, 정보사회, 스마트폰 사용, 애플리케이션 활용' 주제 관련 선행연구 문헌들을 검토하여 다음과 같이 살펴보았다. 첫째, 정보사회를 살아가는 발달장애 학생의 스마트폰을 활용한 사회통합 능력 향상 지원 방안을 기술한다. 둘째, 발달장애 학생의 사회 실생활을 지원해 줄 수 있는 스마트폰 애플리케이션 유형을 기술한다. 셋째, 발달장애 학생의 사회 실생활 적응을 위한 스마트폰 애플리케이션 요구 영역을 기술한다. 이 연구 결과는 발달장애 학생이 정보사회에서 스마트폰의 다양한 기능을 익히고 배워 이용함으로써 주변 사람들과 상호교류하여 의사소통능력을 향상시키고 직업재활과 사회통합에 도움이 되도록 적절한 애플리케이션을 개발하여 교육적으로 지원, 제공하는 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

발달장애인의 취업이 사회활동에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Employment of Persons with Developmental Disabilities on Social Activities)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 발달장애인의 취업이 사회활동에 미치는 영향을 파악하여 발달장애인의 사회통합 활동 방안을 모색하는 것이다. 연구방법으로 391명의 발달장애인을 대상으로 취업 여부와, 사회활동에 대한 설문조사 자료를 통해 교차분석과 상관분석, 그리고 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 발달장애인의 취업은 사회활동에 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 즉 취업한 발달장애인의 사회활동 참여는 79.7% 미취업 상태는 39.3%로 나타났다. 둘째, 개인적 특성을 통제변인으로 신중하게 검증한 발달장애인의 취업은 사회활동에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 5.2배 증가하였다. 연구결과로 볼 때 발달장애인의 사회활동 참여를 위해서는 발달장애인의 적극적인 취업지원과 취업에 대한 정책적 노력이 요구됨을 알 수 있다. 마지막으로 지원고용과 장애인 표준사업장 확대, 직무지도원 제도 도입과 관련 기관과의 네트워크 구축을 제언하였다.

발달장애 아동 어머니가 지각하는 자녀의 문제행동 (Perceptions in Mothers of Problem Behaviors of Children with Developmental Disabilities)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the problem behaviors of children with developmental disabilities and to verify the difference of problem behaviors on the family characteristics. Method: The participants were 61 couples who were 3-9 years-old children with developmental disabilities and their mothers. And the data was collected from July to Oct. 2004. To measure the perception of problem behaviors, Eyberg Child Behavior Inventory (ECBI) were used that modified by Song(1992) and Kim(2006). Result: 'Gets angry when doesn't get his or her own way', 'Is easily distracted' were frequent with children with developmental disabilities. As a result of analysing problem behaviors(intensity and number) on the family characteristics, education level of mother was significant statistically. Conclusion: The results of the present study suggest that developing health programs for children with developmental disabilities and their mothers are need which can be applied for various nursing fields like hospital, community health center and so on.

ACADEMIC FOUNDATION OF DEVELOPMENTAL REHABILITATION: THE MAIN FOUNDATION OF LIFELONG EDUCATION FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the academic foundation of developmental rehabilitation, and the main context and criteria of the review were based on lifelong education for individuals with disabilities. As for the research method, expert consultation was formed based on literature analysis. The contents of the study presented structuring career roadmaps for individuals with developmental disabilities, establishing subject-extracurricular standards for lifelong education curriculum, adult-centered teaching and learning evidence-based practices, job majors, and data-based ILEP document certification. As a result of the study, developmental rehabilitation was valuable as an academic basis for establishing a major foundation for lifelong education for individuals with disabilities, and could be understood as a field deeply applied by convergent nature through special education, rehabilitation science, and social welfare.

Meta-Analysis on the Effect of Therapeutic Horseback Riding on Children with Developmental Disabilities and Neural Patients

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the evidence that therapeutic horseback riding can improve balance, muscle, ADL, equivalenc, GMFM, gait, emotion with developmental disabilities and neural patients. Methods: To conduct meta-analysis, the search focused on studies that employed therapeutic horseback riding for developmental disabilities and neural patients for which eight databases (KIS, RISS, DBpia, National Assembly Library, Pubmed, Embase, Google scholar and Cochrane Library) were used to extract literature published from 2002 to September 2019. The data were analyzed the RevMan 3.5.3 program. Results: As a result of meta-analysis, therapeutic horseback riding total effect size is 0.552 for children with developmental disabilities and neural patients. And effect size result of according to assessment type variable first, balance effect size is 0.594. Second, muscle activities effect size is 0.425. Third, ADL effect size is 0.430. Fourth, equivalance effect size is 0.640. Fifth, GMFM effect size is 0.482. Sixth, gait effect size is 0.400 and seventh emotion effect size is 0.876. Conclusion: These findings is horseback riding is effective The effect size by outcome was observed to be the effective for children with developmental disabilities and neural patients. and also the horseback riding provided the positive effects of balance, muscle activities, ADL, equivalance, GMFM, gait, emotion for children with developmental disabilities and neural patients. It is hoped that this study will contribute to the development of effective treatments for children with developmental disabilities and neural patients therapeutic horseback riding and the development of study.

A Study on the Linkage Model Between Institutions Related to Lifelong Education for People with Developmental Disabilities Based on the K-PACE Center of Daegu University: A Perspective on the Whole Life Cycle for People with Developmental Disabilities

  • The purpose of this study was to form a linked model in which local institutions related to lifelong education for the disabled can cooperate based on the Daegu University K-PACE Center. The contents of the study started with recognizing the problem that the adult-centered lifelong education support system does not effectively cope with these factors, even though the independent life of people with developmental disabilities is a major factor determining the quality of life. Regarding this problem recognition, this study primarily emphasized the view that educational support for independent life of people with developmental disabilities should establish the context of the school foundation. The context of the school foundation is established for lifelong education centered on adulthood for people with developmental disabilities because the curriculum is embodied through the standards of subject matter education. In this regard, the Daegu University K-PACE Center, which established a curriculum that supports the independent life of people with developmental disabilities in terms of linking higher and lifelong education, actually reflects the context of the school foundation. As a result, this study prepared a strategy that could be considered as a transition to advance the curriculum organized by the Daegu University K-PACE Center, and the strategy was secondarily reflected as a procedure that could be linked to local lifelong education-related institutions for the disabled. Finally, this study presented a form of transition in which people with developmental disabilities can access the curriculum of lifelong education through the connection of local lifelong education-related institutions for the disabled, centering on the entire life of adulthood.
