  • This study aimed to summarize the characteristics of visitor experience for different market segments based on insect experience orientation in order to develop Ptecticus tenebrifer (Diptera: Stratiomyidae [Walker]) experience programs using local resources in the insect industrial market. A total of 325 effective samples were collected, and the attributes of insect experience orientation were connected to education, emotion, society, and ego. The survey respondents were students and parents of school-age children. Cluster analysis showed that the respondents were classified into two or three groups that were all found to be high in the prediction validity and discriminant analysis. Based on this result, the respondents were properly subdivided into three clusters for final analysis. Those three groups were: the passive group, the moderate group, and the active-orientation group. As a group aiming for various insect experiences, the active-orientation group consisted of parents whose children range in age from either 5 to 9 or from 10 to 14. This group was willing to spend 7 ~ 8,000 won on each experience program, and they preferred emotional experience programs. The passive and moderate orientation groups were most interested in having an educational experience. In order to increase people's interest in experience programs, education-oriented programs should be developed and promotional marketing should be reinforced. The results and implications of this study may be useful for the development of insect experience programs that can meet various visitor experience orientations as basic data that can contribute to the vitalization of the 6th industrialization plan for the insect industry.

  • Based on innovative technologies and new start-up ideas, startups have been actively researched on the entrepreneurship needed to strengthen the organization's capabilities and generate results in the start-up process. This study studied the entrepreneurial orientation on the performance of startups in the Philippines and the financial and non-financial performance of enterprises. This study carried out not only the entrepreneurial orientation to the performance of Filipino startups but also the role of social capital as parameters in the performance of enterprises. The empirical research was completed for 93 Philippine startups and the suitability of the research model was evaluated with a PLS-based structural equation model. The results of the study first confirmed that the enterprise orientation of Philippine startups has a positive impact on both financial and non-financial performance of the enterprises. Second, the entrepreneurial orientation of Philippine startups has been shown to have a positive effect on both the structural, cognitive and relational dimensions of social capital. Third, it was found that the relevant dimensions of social capital mediated both the corporate orientation and the relationship between the financial and non-financial performance of the entity. Entrepreneurial orientation has been confirmed to be directly or indirectly affecting the performance of startups through social capital. These findings reaffirmed that entrepreneurial orientation is still a valid important factor in developing countries as well as in countries such as Korea and the United States. Based on this study, we have identified the need for research from a more integrated perspective, such as the concept of strategic orientation. Finally, practical implications were presented to reflect the findings analyzed.

  • The most important thing in measuring the tool wear is to set up the measurement base. The end mill that is being used for machining of die is difficult to set up the base and to measure the tool wear because of geometric properties of that such as a helix and relief angle. In this study, a new instrument using spindle orientation function in end milling is developed to measure the tool wear and evaluated by the measuring system on the machine. Finally, this new method makes possible the wear measurement of same position and reduces the measuring time compared with the measuring methods such as the microscope and CCD.

  • This paper presents a development of high accuracy aligner and describes a method to find the orientation of a substantially circular disk shaped wafer with at least one flat region on an edge thereof. In the developed system, the wafer is spun one 360 degree turn on a chuck and the edge position is measured by a linear array to obtain a set of data points at various wafer orientation. The rotation axis may differ from wafer center by an unknown eccentricity. The flat angle is found by fitting a cosine curve to the actual data to obtain a deviation. The maximum deviation is then corrected for errors due to a finite number of data points and wafer eccentricity by calculating an adjustment angle from data points on the wafer fiat. After determining the flat angle the wafer is spun to the desired orientation. The wafer eccentricity can be calculated from four of the data points located away from the flat edge region. and the wafer is then centered.

  • The goal of this clerkship is to expose the student to basic skills needed fir a patient oriented pharmacist to assume an existing clinical role and participate in therapeutic decision making processes. As the pharmacy profession has moved from the traditional product orientation to a patient orientation, curricula within the college of pharmacy have evolved to include more experiential coursework to lister this patient orientation. This change has been supported by the philosophy of pharmaceutical care which encourages pharmacists to assume a patient advocacy role in optimizing a patient's drug therapy while minimizing the adverse effects of the medication. The role of experiential education, and especially the clerkship experience will be to hasten and enhance the development of this concept and philosophy for pharmacy students.

  • This study was conducted to identify the effect of daylighting in hospitals on hospitalization time of patients and patients' outcomes in hospitals. Two major variations include orientation of hospital wards and the hospitalization times of various kinds of patients. Patients' data were obtained from two hospitals located in Seoul, Korea. The hospital buildings have north-facing and north-facing wards. The patients were classified according to the types of diseases and the orientation of the patient rooms. Then, statistical T-tests were applied in order to verify if natural light might shorter the hospitalization time of patients. The study also identified the types of diseases that were more responsive to the quantity of natural light in patient rooms. This information may be used as a basis for the development of guidelines for patient rooms in hospitals to achieve more effective healing environments. Likewise, the results may be applied to medical treatment buildings, recreational centers and hospital as well.
