  • This paper investigates changing processes of new product development (NPD) systems. In order to continuously develop first-class products, world wide super-class products and hit products, R&D (Research & Development) must be competitive. Firms must achieve competitiveness in terms of quality and cost by launching new products. Most films focus on improving effectiveness and efficiency of NPD process. However, sometimes, they face to the critical challenge of transforming NPD processes entirely reflecting dramatic change of their core products. Transforming of NPD process is difficult in that it involves technological and organizational changes in marketing, R&D, Engineering and manufacturing systems. The purpose of this paper is to shed light on processes and factors affecting successful transformation of new product development systems. We present a case study on the changing processes of S company's NPD process. S company has changed new product development systems successfully from a major IT equipment supplier to an automotive supplier. Empirical results show successful changes of 10 core NPD processes from understanding the market and customers process to after sales process. In case of transformation of NPD, adaption of attribute of business is crucial for success factors in the process innovation. This paper shows the bridging the gap between IT and automotive industrial dynamics and growth through adaption of two processes in the NPD.

  • The main objective of the present paper is to conduct a depth analysis of the structural relationship among cooperation of manufacturing corporations, their development of new products and performance in view of an empirical study. The findings of this study could be summed up as follows: First, from the analysis of relationship between cooperation of manufacturing corporations and development of new products, it was found out that there is a positive relationship among such factors of new product development as development process, organizational culture and substructure when cooperation among corporations becomes intensive. Second, the analysis of relationship between development of new products and financial outcomes showed that the factors of new product development like organizational culture and substructure do influence financial performance, while the development process don't. Third, in terms of relationship between factors of new product development and non-financial performance, it was analyzed that non-financial performance can be affected by such factors of new product development as development process, organizational culture and substructure.

  • A continuous development of new products is the lifeblood for firms that hope to maintain competency in competitive environments. Ongoing success in these environments is dependent on whether the management can choose or can't chose the proper mix of new product development strategy, new product development process, and organizational structure. Rather than considering the interrelationship among these success factors, however, most previous studies of new products development have examined these issues individually. Moreover, because past research has been unidimensional in nature, there is a lack of knowledge about how new product development strategy, process, and structure could be linked up each other. Consequently, we have no complete perspective of the linkage among new product development strategy, process, structure, and performance. The purpose of this study is to examine the new product development strategy, process, and structure of firms, and explore the effect of each on performance as well as linkage among strategy, process, strategy and structure.

  • The development of technology in modern industrial world which grows and changes every day is shortening the cycle of life span of products, so there is a flood of products around us. It is enough to say that this phenomenon leads to further emphasis on the aspect of design for human being. It is not a new fact that to design for the rational function and the modeling from to make a combination and to satisfy consumers' desire is a short cut to gain competitive superiority in developing new products for MIS security. Therefore the design which plays a leading role in the activity of creating more convenient, more aesthetic, and more econemical products is called 'NEW CORPORATE WEAPON'. The amount of effort made for developing products is different in each company, but recently the plan to develope new products and its process arouse more interest. This thesis purports to improve objective understanding about the development of design by investigating products development research and the process of analysis and designing as a case study on developing a domestic supersonic humidifier. This thesis consists of five chapters in all. In chapter one as a preface, the purpose the method and the scope of the study is described. Chapter two contains my effort to grasp the background of study on the design and the basic structure of supersonic humidifier. Chapter three is an examination into the present conditions of supersonic humidifier used in domestic and foreign area, and the shape of design. In chapter four, a guide for the development of design is established. The idea sketch based on a fundamental shape and the drawing are added to this. In chapter five on the basis of the result of analysis in the preceding research I describe the development of design of products on the premise that marketing gives proof for them but the products oriented by manufacturer are not included in this case. In this thesis, I try to recognize the process of the develpment of design and the importance of the plan for design in developing products by examining an investigative and analytic study on the design of products.

  • Purpose - In the joint development of new products, buyers and suppliers exchange information to solve various problems. Uncertainty and ambiguity are typical examples. Uncertainty refers to the lack of information to solve the problem, and equivocality refers to the case where the information is interpreted in multiple processes in the process of providing the information. These uncertainty and equivocality cause new products to be delayed in their development and adversely affect quality. However, unfortunately, there is a lack of researches on how the uncertainty and equivocality of such concepts control the results of new product joint development. But, smooth communication and effective exchange of information is not emphasized only in the general organization. The importance of the new product joint development projects to achieve the two organizations' common goals becomes even greater. The purposes of this study are to analyse the effect of supplier's strategy on the NPD performance and moderating effect of uncertainty and equivocality. Research design, data, and methodology - In order to make a contribution to the lack of academic researches in Korea, this study collects data through questionnaires based on organizational information processing theory and previous studies, and conducts empirical analysis. Results - As a result, the product modularization strategy and the strategic supply chain relationship positively influenced the new product development performance - return on investment and ease of manufacturing. And the interaction effect of uncertainty and equivocality with supplier's strategy - product modularity strategy and strategic supply chain management relationship - reduces or negates the influence of product modularization strategy on new product development performance. Conclusions - This implies that it is important to control uncertainty and equivocality in order for the supplier strategy to have a positive effect on new product development performance. It also emphasizes the necessity of sharing information appropriately for companies that do not want to share the information as possible due to their fear of loss of competitive advantage in the joint development of new products. Because this kind of negative policy might let uncertainty and equivocality be happen in new product joint development process.

  • Although the generic implementation of aqueous two-phase systems (ATPS) processes for the recovery of biological products has been exploited for several years, this has not resulted in a wide adoption of the technique. The main reasons involve the poor understanding of the mechanism governing phase formation and the behavior of solute partitioning in ATPS processes, the cost of phase forming polymers, and the necessary extended time to optimize the technique. In this review paper, some of the practical disadvantages attributed to ATPS are addressed. The practical approach exploited to design ATPS processes, the application to achieve process integration, the extended use for the recovery of high-value products, and the recent development of new low-cost ATPS, are discussed. It is proposed that the trend of the practical application of ATPS processes for the recovery of biological products will involve the purification of new high-value bioparticulate products with medical applications. Such a trend will give new impetus to the technique, and will draw attention from industries needing to develop new, and improve existing, commercial processes.
