Development of Multi-body Data Conversion Program for Torque Converter Analysis (토크컨버터 해석을 위한 다물체 자료 변환 프로그램 개발)

  • The finite element programs have been developed for structure, collision, flow, dynamics, heat transfer, acoustics, electromagnetism, MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems), and etc. These programs can be classified as either "package" program or "single purpose" program. Single purpose programs usually have convenient and powerful functions, but these programs have limited expandability to different fields of analysis. Therefore, the method to converter the analysis results of single purpose program to other programs is needed. In the research, multi-body data conversion methods of 1) finite element model and 2) solid model were created to convert fluid analysis result of CFD-ACE+ to ANSYS data structure. Automatic boundary condition algorithms were developed for blade, and finite element model was compared with solid model. It is expected that, by sealess data transfer, the Multi-body Data Conversion Program could reduce the development period of torque converters.

  • In the knowledge based society, it is very important to have an ability to solve problem with knowledge and information. In addition, the number of problems that can not be solved only with existing knowledge are increasing. Therefore, we developed an informatics education program that enhances creative problem solving abilities through systematic collection of information. This program designed to enhance both divergent thinking and convergent thinking. The developed program improves the problem solving ability with learner's internal knowledge as well as new information that is collected from external world. More practical and effective program can be provided through continuous program improvement.

Development of Healthy Family Education Program for Middle School Students (청소년을 위한 건강가정 교육 프로그램 개발)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop and test the effectiveness of a healthy family education program for adolescents. Based on the literature review and an assessment of middle school students' and their parents' needs for the healthy family education, a healthy family education program was developed with four main parts: 'Forming a Happy Family', 'Developing Friendship with (Other Sex) Friends', 'Traveling into the World of Consumption', and 'Healthy Body, Healthy Minds.', In order to test the effectiveness of the program, 35 students from a middle school in Seoul were treated with the education program. The treatment group was compared to a control group before and after the treatment in terms of their attitude toward and knowledge in family healthiness. As a result, the developed program was found to have a positive effect on enhancing the attitude and knowledge of middle school students related to family healthiness.

The Effects of a Maternal Self-Efficacy Promotion Program on Maternal Confidence and Mother-Infant Interaction

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of a maternal self-efficacy promotion program for Korean primiparas on maternal confidence and mother-infant interaction. Method: This study was non-equivalent quasi-experimental research with a control group selected by purposive sampling. Based on Bandura’s (1986) self-efficacy theory, the research team developed the maternal self-efficacy promotion program. The program included achievement experiences, verbal persuasion, and vicarious experiences. The program was provided through face-to-face teaching at the time of discharge, counseling sessions over the telephone, and a home visit. Subjects also learned about parenting skills using a videotape developed by the research team. Sixteen primiparas were recruited to the experimental group at one hospital in Kyongi province, and fifteen primiparas who were matched according to socioeconomic status were recruited to the control group at a postpartum care center in the same province. Results: Subjects in the experimental group demonstrated significantly higher maternal confidence and mother-infant interaction than those in the control group. Conclusion: The maternal self-efficacy promotion program appears to be an effective nursing intervention for parenting of first-time mothers in Korea.

Development and Effectiveness of Expressive Writing Program for Women with Breast Cancer in Korea (유방암 환자를 위한 표현적 글쓰기 프로그램의 개발 및 효과)

  • Purpose: To develop a expressive writing program for women with breast cancer and to identify its effects on stress physical symptom, cancer symptom, anxiety, depression, and QOL. Methods: A non-equivalent control pre-post design was used. Participants were recruited from self-help groups in six hospitals and were assigned to the experimental group (29) or control group (29). Data were collected before, after, and at four weeks after the intervention program. Changes in the variables were evaluated to test effects of the developed program, using $X^2$-test, Fisher's exact test, repeated measures ANOVA, and paired t-test. Results: The expressive writing program was developed for women with breast cancer based on Pennebaker's expressive writing. Significant differences were found between the two groups for stress related to physical symptoms ($p$<.00) and quality of life ($p$=.024). No significant differences were found in cancer symptoms, anxiety, or depression between the two groups. Conclusion: The results indicate that the expressive writing program designed to express cancer-related deep thoughts and emotions helps in decreasing physical symptoms and improving QOL. Further studies are needed to identify the effect on emotions such as anxiety and depression for women with breast cancer with above average levels of anxiety and depression.

  • A multi layered elastic analysis program, IDYSPAP, was developed. The objective of this study was to develop the IDYSPAP program on Graphic User Interface environment for field engineers using Visual Basic, which was considered span of multi-wheels and maximum 4 axles using superposition of linear elastic theorem. It is suggested that this study considers algorithm with dynamic properties of asphalt layer on various temperature and non-linear properties of subbase and subgrade on stress non-linearity for asphalt pavement structure. This Program was modified to divide asphalt layer automatically according to layer division concept. The developed program was verified with initial measuring data in test road sections of KEC (Korea Expressway Co.) using laboratory test results.

  • Based on the constructivist learning environments model and the learner-centered psychological principles, STEAM education program with the theme of eliminating smog was developed. Through the program, senior elementary school students will learn and apply the convergence knowledge of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics such as the human body's respiratory system (S), immune system (S), big data (M, T), computer programming(M), and aduino sensor utilization (E) directly to solve the problem. After expert validity testing, we found that developed program meet the standards of STEAM education program development and can develop creative thinking skills to find and solve problems in students' daily lives. In addition, this study is meaningful in providing a reference example for the development of STEAM education programs that enhance convergence knowledge in the future.

Development of a Web-based Education Program for Nurses working in Nursing Homes on Human Rights of Older Adults (노인요양시설 간호사 대상 웹기반 노인인권 교육프로그램 개발)

  • Purpose: This study was done to develop a web-based education program for nurses working in nursing homes. The focus was on the rights of older adults. Methods: The program was designed based on the Network-Based Instructional System Design (NBISD) model and was operated and evaluated between July 2007 and June 2008. Results: Out of nursing records of 40 residents from a nursing home, the final 7 cases were deducted through classification using the Resource Utilization Group (RUG)-III. The data on needs for education was collected from 28 nurses working in 15 nursing homes located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, who agreed to complete a self-report questionnaire. A comprehensive review of the literature and two focus groups interviews were used to search for risk factors and guidelines for protection of human rights. The education program was developed based on Kolb's experiential learning model and composed of 5 units, which included content on types of human rights and rights to death with dignity, elder abuse, physical liberty, and self-determination. The program was positively evaluated showing a score of 3.35 (SD=0.37) out of 4. Conclusion: The educational program developed in this study should promote nurses' sensitivity to the rights of elders and improve nurses' behaviors in protecting the rights of elders residing in nursing homes.

Computer Program Development for Station Reliability Assessment using System State Transition Sampling (시스템상태천이 샘플링을 이용한 변전소 신뢰도평가 컴퓨터 프로그램 개발)

  • This paper presents the computer program for station reliability assessment. The developed program is based on Monte-Carlo simulation using system state transition sampling, which has the merit of rapid assessment compared to state duration sampling. One of the contributions of this paper is introduction of exclusiveness among events, which makes non-exponential probabilistic distribution be utilized in modeling repair time. The developed program is applied to well-blown sample system, and its assessment results are listed in this paper to show the reliability of the program.

  • Development and Evaluation of the Effectiveness of a Web-Based Learning System Program for Nursing Education on Peritoneal Dialysis Ji-Soo Yoo(Professor, College of Nursing, Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea) Seong-Mi Moon(Doctoral Candidate, College of Nursing, Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea) The purpose of this study was to develop a nursing education program using a web-based learning system to teach peritoneal dialysis and to evaluate the effectiveness of the program. The program was developed in two steps. The first step was to develop the content using CVI, and the second was to program it using HTML. The program which was developed was evaluated with 50 nurses of whom 48 responded to the questionnaire. The results are as follows: Of the subjects, 85.4% responded that they were satisfied with this web-based learning system and 87.5% stated that they would recommend this system to nurses who are in other nursing education programs. Of the educational material charac- teristics, the item that the subjects evaluated as most valuable was "accuracy of the content". For system related charact- eristics, the item to which the subjects gave the most positive response was "clarity of the system tool marking" (81.3%). In conclusion, it was verified that a web-based learning system is an effective and satisfactory method for nursing education.
