  • In this paper we propose influence measures for two basic goodness-of-fit statistics, the coefficient of determination $R^2$ and test statistic F in the linear regression model using the deletion method. Some useful lemmas are provided. We also express the influence measures in terms of basic building blocks such as residual, leverage, and deviation that showed them as increasing function of residuals and a decreasing function of deviation. Further, the proposed measure reduces computational burden from O(n) to O(1). As illustrative examples, we applied the proposed measures to the stackloss data sets. We verified that deletion of one or few influential observations may result in big change in $R^2$ and F-statistic.

  • Determination of the interface heat transfer coefficient was investigated in non-isothermal bulk forming of glass-coated Ti-6Al-4V. FE analysis and experiments were conducted. Equipment consisting of AISI Hl3 die was instrumented with thermocouples located at sub-surface of the bottom die. Die temperature changes were investigated in related to the process variables such as reduction, lubricant and initial die temperature. The calibration approach based on heat conduction and FE analysis using an inverse algorithm were used to evaluate the interface heat transfer between graphite-lubricated die and glass-coated workpiece. The coefficients determined were affected mainly by the contact pressure. The validation of the coefficients was made by the comparison between experimental data and FE analysis results.

  • There were various study about an early compressive strength of concrete. But, they had a problems-likes accuracy and spending too much necessary time. The purpose of this study is develope method that suitable for each field proportioning. The result of this study are as follows : 1) The standard deviation between flyash added concrete's accelerated strength and it's standard compressive strength is follows, 10% in accelerated strength, 4.5% in 28-days strength, 10% in accelerated strength of S/A changed concrete, 2.3% in 28-days strength. 2) When flyash added into concrete, coefficient of determination between accelerated strength and 7-days strength is 0.63%, 0.89 between accelerated strength and 28-days strength. When S/A is changed, coefficient of determination is 0.77, 0.91.

  • PURPOSES : Evaluation of input parameters determination procedure for dynamic analysis of aggregates in DEM. METHODS : In this research, the aggregate slump test and angularity test were performed as fundamental laboratory tests to determine input parameters of spherical particles in DEM. The heights spreads, weights of the simple tests were measured and used to calibrate rolling and static friction coefficients of particles. RESULTS : The DEM simulations with calibrated parameters showed good agreement with the laboratory test results for given dynamic condition. CONCLUSIONS : It is concluded that the employed calibration method can be applicable to determine rolling friction coefficient of DEM simulation for given dynamic conditions. However, further research is necessary to connect the result to the behavior of aggregate in packing and mixing process and to refine static friction coefficient.

  • Recently the high speed end-milling processing is demanded the high-precise technique with good surface roughness and rapid time in aircraft, automobile part and molding industry. The working factors of high speed end-milling has an effect on surface roughness of cutting surface. Therefore this study was carried out to analyze the working factors to get the optimum surface roughness by design of experiment. From this study, surface roughness have an much effect according to priority on distance of cut, feed rate, revolution of spindle and depth of cut. By design of experiment, it is effectively represented shape characteristics of surface roughness in high speed end-milling. And determination($R^2$) coefficient of regression equation had a satisfactory reliability of 76.3% and regression equation of surface roughness is made by regression analysis.

  • We used blood data to predict obesity by complementing the BMI risk, because some blood factors are significantly associated with obesity. For the sampling method, a two-step stratified colony sampling method was used based on sixteen blood factors collected by the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(KNHANES). We identify the number of effective blood data of obesity in the final model as 6 ~ 8 factors that differ somewhat depending on age and gender. Also, the coefficient of determination that represents the predictive power of obesity in the regression model is the highest for both men and women of aged 19 and in their 20s and 30s, and the predictive power decreases with increasing age.

  • The spectrophotometric determination method of scandium with eriochrome cyanine R (ECR) and the composition ratio of the complex were investigated in the presence of surfactants. A volume of 5 mL of 1.0×$10^{-3}$ M ECR and 10 mL of 2.0×$10^{-4}$ M CTMAB are necessary for the determination of 1.0×$10 ^{-7}$ ~ 3.0×$10^{-6}$ M Sc(III) at pH 6.5. The apparent molar absorption coefficient of the Sc(III)-ECR-CTMAB, ternary complex at 610 nm is 5.6×$10^5$ $mol^{-1}cm{-1}$L and its detection limit is 1.0×$10^{-7}$ M. Separation studies were conducted by the column method. The effect of pH, elution solution and the influence of rare earth elements as interferents was discussed. Their separation was carried out in 0.1 M HCl-50% methanol solution and 1.0 M HCl media. The method was applied for the determination of Sc(III) in monazite.

  • Finite difference analysis were applied to study the principle operation of monopole antenna for moisture determination in oil palm fruit at 2 GHz. The electromagnetic field interact with oil palm fruit on the interface between the antenna and oil palm fruit and cause a reflection. The reflection measurement is based on mismatch impedance or dielectric properties between two media. Reflection coefficient is used to quantify the level of reflection. The monopole antenna was made of RG405/U semi-rigid coaxial cable with an inner and outer diameter of 0.45 mm and 1.50 mm, respectively with 2.23 mm length of protruding conductor over 5.66 cm length of monopole antenna. This monopole antenna for moisture detection was compared with induced EMF method in terms of reflection coefficient at 2 GHz. The results show that the complex reflection coefficient measured using monopole antenna provides significant results to predict moisture content in oil palm fruit.

  • A linear correlation, by the stepwise multiple regression analysis, was found between the sensory test of Sigumjang aroma and the gas chromatographic data which were transformed with logarithm. GC data is the most objective method to evaluate Sigumjang aroma. A multiple correlation coefficient and a determination coefficient of more than 0.9 were obtained at the 9th and 13th steps, respectively. At step 31, the coefficient of determination level of 0.95 was attained. The accuracy of its estimation became higher as the number of the variables entered into the regression model increased. Over 90% of the Sigumjang aroma was explained by 13 compounds indentified on GC. The contributing proportion of the peak 26 was the highest followed by peaks 57 (9.27%), 29 (7.51%), 54 (6.01%), 8 (5.99%), 49 (4.97%), and 13 (4.11%).

  • Many building materials may contain high concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other hazardous pollutants(HAPs). Specifically, VOCs discharged by indoor building material may cause "new house" syndrome, atopic dermatitis etc. The diffusion coefficient and initially contained total VOC quantity were determined using microbalance experiments and small chamber tests. Interactions between volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and vinyl flooring (VF), a relatively homogenous, diffusion-controlled building material, were characterized. Rapid determination of the material/air partition coefficient (K) and the material-phase diffusion coefficient (D) for each VOC was achieved by placing thin VF slabs in a dynamic microbalance and subjecting them to controlled sorption/desorption cycles. K and D are shown to be independent of concentration for all of the VOCs and water vapor. This approach can be applied to other diffusion-controlled materials and should facilitate the prediction of their source/sink behavior using physically-based models.
