Physical, mechanical and deteriorating properties of Phellodendron amure were investigated. Air dried density located indoor was 0.41 but $0.43g/cm^3$ outdoor. In oven dry shrinkage, T/R ratio for located indoor was 1.40 but 1.32 outdoor. Hygroscopic property at $40^{\circ}C$ with 90% relative humidity was 16.30% for indoor and 15.80% for outdoor. Compressive strength for outdoor conditioned sample was 43.81 MPa but 40.33 MPa for indoor conditioned. Also bending strenght for outdoor conditioned was 84.63 MPa but 68.80 MPa for indoor conditioned. Impact strength was 3.43 and $4.00J/cm^2$ indoor and outdoor, respectively. Hardness at cross-section was 47.92 and 49.20 MPa indoor and outdoor, respectively. With one-year conditioning at indoor or outdoor, there was no significantly different in strength properties, which came from strong resistance for deterioration. Also Phellodendron amure wood showed dimensionally stable raw material based on low T/R ratio.
In this paper, the new channel estimation was proposed that have the low complexity and high performance using Fuzzy inference method uses recently from various field for estimation about uncertainty in channel estimation of OFDM. Proposed method is channel estimation performance improve, calculation and interpolation for statistics character of channel using the pilot before LS channel estimation by Fuzzy inference method. Simulation result in QPSK proposed channel estimation method shows the enhancement of 5.5dB compared to the LS channel estimation and the deterioration of 1.3dB compared to the MMSE channel estimation in mean square error point $10^{-3}$. symbol error rate shows similarity performance the MMSE $10^{-1.96}$, proposed channel estimation $10^{-1.93}$ and enhancement of $10^{-0.35}$ compared to the LS channel estimation in signal to noise ratio point 20dB.
Polystyrene/single-walled carbon nanotube (PS/SWCNT) nanocomposites were prepared by latex technology and the effect of surfactant (SDS) on nanotube dispersion, rheological and electrical properties was investigated. The nanocomposites were prepared through freeze-drying after mixing PS particles and aqueous SWCNT/SDS suspension. As the SDS content increased, the storage modulus and complex viscosity of the nanocomposites were increased due to enhanced dispersion of nanotubes, but if the content excessively increased, the modulus and viscosity began to decrease due to low molecular weight of SDS. The electrical conductivity sharply increased with the addition of SDS, and then did not show significant changes. This result is speculated to be the competition between the increased dispersion of nanotubes and the deterioration of electrical conductivity by SDS adsorption. An optimal ratio of SDS to SWCNT for improving electrical conductivity and end-use properties was 2. With this ratio, the electrical percolation threshold of SWCNT was less than 1 wt%.
This study empirically analyzes whether political rent-seeking behavior exits in Korea. The empirical analysis shows that there is a cyclical decline in aggregate revenue immediately following the election year. However, when using other aggregate fiscal variables including aggregate revenue, fiscal balance, tax and public burden ratio, no such cyclical deterioration are found. By sector, the expenditures of the economic affairs show a cyclical increase in the year right after the election. In addition, as the ratio of ruling party senators to total senators is high, the expenditures of the economic affairs tend to increase more and this tendency becomes more stronger right after the presidential election year. Such a result turns out to be consistent even when the expenditure was analyzed separately from the mandatory and discretionary expenditures by sector. This is a testimony to the existence of political rent-seeking behavior in Korea.

Kenya has recently experienced worrying collapse of buildings during construction largely attributable to the poor quality of in-situ concrete and poor workmanship. The situation in the country is further compounded by rapid deterioration of infrastructure, hence necessitating the development of alternative structural systems such as concrete filled unplasticized poly vinyl chloride (UPVC) tubes as columns. The work herein adds on to the very limited and scanty work on use of UPVC tubes in construction. This study presents the findings of experimental and analytical work which investigated the structural response of composite concrete filled UPVC tubes under compressive load regime. UPVC pipes are cheaper than steel tubes and can be used as formwork during construction and thereafter as an integral part of column. Key variables in this study included the strength of infill concrete, the length to diameter ratio (L/D) of the plastic tube, as well as the diameter to thickness ratio (D/2t) of the plastic tube. Plastic tubes having varying diameters and heights were used to confine concrete of different strengths. Results obtained in the study clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of UPVC tubes as a confining medium for infill concrete, attributable to enhanced composite interaction between the UPVC tube and infill concrete medium. It was determined that compressive strength of the composite column specimens increased with increased concrete strength while the same decreased with increased column height, albeit by a small margin since all the columns considered were short columns. Most importantly, the experimental confined concrete strength increased significantly when compared to unconfined concrete strength; the strength increased between 1.18 to 3.65 times the unconfined strength. It was noted that lower strength infill concrete had the highest confined strength possibly due to enhanced composite interaction with the confining UPVC tube. The study further proposes an analytical model for the determination of confined strength of concrete.

Understanding the mechanism(s) to overcome or prevent seed ageing deterioration during storage is of fundamental interest to seed physiologists. Vitamin E (tocols) is known as a key metabolite to efficiently scavenge lipid peroxy radicals which cause membrane breakdown resulting in seed ageing. However, in rice research this hypothesis has been tested for very few lines only without considering intraspecific variation in genomic structure. Here, we present a correlation study between tocols and seed longevity using a diverse rice panel. Seeds of 20 rice accessions held in the International Rice Genebank at the International Rice Research Institute, representing aus, indica, temperate japonica and tropical japonica subpopulations, were used for tocols analysis (quantification of ${\alpha}$-, ${\beta}$-, ${\gamma}$-, ${\delta}$-tocopherol/tocotrienol by ultra performance liquid chromatography) and storage experiments at $45^{\circ}C$ and 10.9% seed moisture content (sample taken for germination testing every 3 days up to 60 days). To examine interactions between DNA sequences and phenotype, the 700k high-density single-nucleotide polymorphism marker data-set was utilized. Both seed longevity (time for viability to fall to 50%; $p_{50}$) and tocols content varied across subpopulations due to heterogeneity in the genetic architecture. Among eight types of tocol homologues, ${\alpha}$-tocopherol and ${\gamma}$-tocotrienol were significantly correlated with $p_{50}$ (negatively and positively, respectively). While temperate japonica varieties were most abundant in ${\alpha}$-tocopherol, indica varieties recorded 1.3 to 1.7-fold higher ${\gamma}$-tocotrienol than those of other subpopulations. It was highlighted that specific ratio of tocol homologues rather than total tocols content plays an important role in the seed longevity mechanism.
The aim of this study is to investigate the durability of fly ash based geopolymer mortar with and without protective coatings in aggressive chemical environments. The source materials for geopolymer are Fly ash and Ground Granulated Blast furnace Slag (GGBS) and they are considered in the combination of 80% & 20% respectively. Two Molarities of NaOH solution were considered such as 8M and 10M. The ratio of binder to sand and Sodium silicate to Sodium hydroxide solution (Na2SiO3/NaOH) are taken as 1:2 and 2 respectively. The alkaline liquid to binder ratio is 0.4. Compressive strength tests were conducted at various ages of the mortar specimens. In order to evaluate the performance of coatings on geopolymer mortar under aggressive chemical environment, the mortar specimens were coated with two different types of coatings such as epoxy and Acrylic. They were then subjected to different chemical environments by immersing them in 10% standard solutions of each ammonium nitrate, sodium chloride and sulphuric acid. Drop in compressive strength as a result of chemical exposure was considered as a measure of chemical attack and the drop in compressive strength was measured after 30 and 60 days of chemical exposure. The compressive strength results following chemical exposure indicated that the specimens containing the acrylic coating proved to be more resistant to chemical attacks. The control specimen without coating showed a much greater degree of deterioration. Therefore, the application of acrylic coating was invariably much more effective in improving the compressive strength as well as the resistance of mortar against chemical attacks. The results also indicated that among all the aggressive attacks, the sulphate environment has the most adverse effect in terms of lowering the strength.
This study was conducted to investigate the efficacy of using a coating of gelatin extracted from refiner discharge to extend the shelf life of salmon during cold storage ($5^{\circ}C$). Relative percentage of moisture loss in gelatin-coated salmon during cold storage was less than that of uncoated salmon. The treatment of salmon with gelatin reduced volatile basic nitrogen (VBN) formation throughout the entire storage period. Measurements of the peroxide value (POV), fatty acid composition, and (20:5n-3+22:6n-3)/16:0 ratio during cold storage indicated that the coating of salmon with gelatin from refiner discharge effectively suppressed lipid oxidation over the entire storage period. The extent of sensory color change during cold storage was less in the gelatin-coated than in the uncoated salmon. From the results of chemical measurements, such as relative moisture content, VBN, POV, fatty acid composition, (20:5n-3+22:6n-3)/16:0 ratio, and sensory color change, the conclusion was made that the coating treatment of salmon with refiner discharge gelatin effectively suppressed moisture loss, lipid oxidation, and color deterioration over the entire storage period.

We propose novel OCDMA system with the structure of reconfigurable may encoder/decoder(RAE/ RAD), which are able to reallocate the 2-D optical codes to each subscriber and recover the transmitted data at all the receiving nodes. We have first implemented the double hard limiters composed of limiting amplifier(first hard limiter) that maintain a level of the encoded data from receiving node and AND detector(second hard limiter) for detecting the position of the encoded data and recovering the data. With the proposed system, it was successfully implemented to recover a specific channel data out of 16 code-multiplxed channels using FPGA and 4 DFB-LDs having distinct wavelengths. From experimental results, the code length resulted from increasing the number of the simultaneously connected channels has been reduced by using 2-D OCDMA multiplexed in time and wavelength instead of 1-D OCDMA. In addition, bit errors phenomenon on account of deterioration of autocorrelation peak-to-side lobe ratio is enhanced by using the double hard limiters composed of AND detector and limiting amplifiers.

PURPOSE: The objective of this study was to provide a basis for the need to apply psychological factors-based rehabilitation programs to osteoarthritis patients by understanding how the limitations on the activities of osteoarthritis patients relate to the health-related quality of life and depression. METHODS: This study assessed 1,994 osteoarthritis patients from the 7th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES, 2016-2018). The subjects were divided into two categories: with activity limitation and without activity limitation. A Chi-square test and logistic regression analysis were conducted. RESULTS: The EQ-5D index of subjects with activity limitation was .84 ± .16, it was .94 ± .12 in those with no activity limitation (p < .05). The diagnosis of depression was 16.8% and; 8.3% in those with and without activity limitation, respectively (p < .05). There was a significant difference in the odds ratio for each item in the EQ-5D. Moreover, the odds ratio for depression with an activity limitation was 2.171 (1.512 - 3.118) compared with no activity limitation. CONCLUSION: The activity limitation of osteoarthritis patients reduces the health-related quality of life significantly and increases the probability of depression. Therefore, the treatment of osteoarthritis patients should be approached considering the psychological conditions. Moreover, early diagnosis of depressive symptoms is needed to prevent symptom deterioration and increase the compliance with rehabilitation therapy.
