Development and use of Supporting Device for Patellar X-ray Imaging (슬개골 엑스선 영상 촬영을 위한 보조기구의 개발과 활용)

  • In this study, it focuses on the development of radiographic devices for patellar imaging. On the previous X-ray examination of patella and patellofemoral joint, it analyzed the problems which could affect the results: unstable patients' pose, radiation exposure, and deterioration of image quality. The purpose of the research is to propose a future use of a developed device with an explanation of the process, function, and advantage of the device including the methods. The device is developed to focus on the diagnosis of the longitudinal and longitudinal fractures of the patella and patella/femoral joint, displacement such as dislocation, bone formation, stenosis of the patella/femorla joint, and cartilage wear. Due to the patient's anxious posture, it caused a shaking image, overlapping structures, and etcs, these factors challenge to diagnose accurately. In addition, the existing Settegast method and Hughston method, which are most frequently performed in the hospital field, are not suitable for the presence or absence of features or dislocation due to the heavy load on the patella of the patient. The developed device requires patients in a lying position and placing only their leg on the device, it increases the conveniences of the examination and decreases unnecessary radiation exposure of the patient except the patellar examination area. Moreover, one of the systems in the device fixes the detector, where the patients no longer need to hold the detector nor be in unstable posture, but describes the structure of the patella/femoral joint more clearly. Hoping the device will apply to more patients.

A Detection Method of Resistive Leakage Current Flowing through ZnO Arrester Blocks (산화아연 피뢰기소자에 흐르는 저항분 누설전류의 검출기법)

  • This paper resents a developed measuring device of resistive leakage current and a fundamental discussion of deterioration diagnosis for Zinc Oxide(ZnO) arrester blocks. We have developed the leakage current detection device for ageing test and durability evaluation for ZnO arrester blocks. The resistive leakage current can be used as an indicator to discriminate whether the ZnO arrester blocks is in good state or in bad. The resistive leakage current measuring system with the compensation circuit was designed and fabricated. The sauce tests for ZnO arrester blocks were investigated by observing the resistive leakage current together with fast Fourier transform analysis. The proposed monitoring systems for the resistive leakage current can effectively be used to investigate the electrophysical properties of ZnO arrester blocks in laboratory and to develop the techniques of forecasting the deterioration of ZnO arresters in electric power systems.

  • This paper describes the comparison results on electrical characteristic changes of ZnO blocks by lightning impulse current. The five types of ZnO blocks used in lightning arrester for distribution lines have been estimated repeatedly till about 400 times by a standard lightning impulse current of 3kA, $8/20{\mu}s$, and changes of the performance characteristics of them to operation times were examined and compared quantitatively every fifty times discharge. It is expected that the result will be useful to diagnose the soundness of ZnO blocks or lightning arresters, and to develope deterioration diagnosis device for them.

  • Recently, the necessity of safety diagnosis of electrical devices has been increasing as the fire caused by electric devices has increased rapidly. This study is concerned with the safety diagnosis of electric equipment using intelligent Fuzzy technology. It is used as a diagnostic input for the multiple electrical safety factors such as the use current, cumulative use time, deterioration and arc characteristics inherent to the equipment. In order to extract these information in real time, a device composed of various sensor circuits, DSP signal processing, and communication circuit is implemented. The fuzzy logic algorithm using the Gaussian function for each information is designed and compiled to be implemented on a small DSP board. The fuzzy logic receives the four diagnostic information, deduces it by the fuzzy engine, and outputs the overall safety status of the device as a 100-step analog fuzzy value familiar to human sensibility. By experiments of a device that combines hardware and fuzzy algorithm implemented in this study, it is verified that it can be implemented in a small DSP board with human-friendly fuzzy value, diagnosing real-time safety conditions during operation of electric equipment. In the future, we expect to be able to study more intelligent diagnostic systems based on artificial intelligent with AI dedicated Micom.

Evaluation of Albumin Creatinine Ratio as an Early Urinary Biomarker for Chronic Kidney Disease in Dogs

  • Chronic kidney disease (CKD) occurs in more than 15% of the dogs over 10 years of age and causes irreversible renal function deterioration. Therefore, it is important to diagnose CKD early and treat the disease properly. The purpose of this study aimed to to evaluate the clinical utility of urine albumin/creatinine ratio (ACR) using POC (point-of-care) device as an early detection urinary biomarker in CKD dogs and to confirm the correlation between ACR and other known CKD biomarkers. Urine and serum samples were obtained from 50 healthy dogs and 50 dogs with CKD. Serum blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine, and symmetric dimethylarginine (SDMA) concentrations, and urine protein creatinine ratio (UPC) were measured. Urine specific gravity (USG) was evaluated using refractometer, and ACR was measured using an i-SENS A1Care analyzer. The ACR values of dogs with CKD were significantly different from those of healthy dogs (p < 0.001), as with other renal biomarkers. ACR showed significant differences between healthy dogs and dogs with CKD at every IRIS stage (p < 0.005), whereas no significant differences were observed between dogs with CKD IRIS stage I and healthy dogs with UPC. There are significant positive correlation between ACR and BUN (r = 0.611, p < 0.001), creatinine (r = 0.788, p < 0.001), SDMA (r = 0.747, p < 0.001), and UPC (r = 0.784, p < 0.001), and significant negative correlation between ACR and USG (r = -0.700, p < 0.001). In receiver operator characteristic curve analysis, the area under the curve (AUC) was 0.982 (95% CI 0.963-1.000, p < 0.001), with an optimal cut-off value of 64.20 mg/g (94% sensitivity and 94% specificity). Thus, ACR is a useful urinary biomarker for the early diagnosis of proteinuria in CKD and combined use of ACR and other renal biomarkers may be helpful for early diagnosis and prevention of CKD in dogs.

A Study on the Analysis of Virus Barrier Materials in a Chest X-ray Laboratory to Respiratory and Droplet Infections Only Patients (호흡기 및 비말감염 환자 전용 흉부 X-선 검사실의 바이러스 차단제 분석에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, envisioned a laboratory equipped with virus blocking equipment for chest X-ray examinations of respiratory or droplet-transmitted virus-infected patients, and the material with the least deterioration in X-ray output and image quality among the proven blocking materials that block viruses in the design process. and experimented to find the thickness. As a result, when 1 cm of acrylic was applied, the X-ray output was reduced by only about 3.27 % compared to the absence of the barrier material, the SNR was 40.7 and CNR was 30.9, which was the best. The SSIM index result was analyzed as 0.891, which was analyzed to be implemented as the most similar image compared to the original image. The barrier material applied in the research method was objective in that it used a product approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. the results of this study are expected to provide useful information when installing X-ray examination facilities for the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory-related virus-infected patients in the future.
